Chapter 506: Andromeda
Six months soon passed in what felt like the blink of an eye to the many members of the Federation’s fleet.

But for Alex, it felt like an eternity.

He was bored out of his mind, but that wasn’t the only problem.

His main problem with the whole thing was that because he was stuck on his ship, he couldn’t exactly train and increase his strength.

This was a bit of a setback for him, considering it was 6 months.

To people like Principal Farnes and Althea, this was probably nothing, but for Alex who had barely been an awakened for a few years.

Six months was a lot of lost time for him.

Mira felt the same, as she had the same annoyed, despondent look as she looked outside the viewport at the slowly approaching star.

This star was the first they saw in Andromeda, and they naturally chose it as their first destination.

They had practically no information about the ins and outs of Andromeda, so they were just eyeballing it and hoping the star system the star occupied was one of real value and not just a dead system.

Dead systems were what the Federation coined Star systems that had no practical worth at all.

Though, this actually wasn’t the first star they had witnessed on the way over here though.

Just like they had suspected, there were some dwarf galaxies not worth mentioning on the way, with some minor star systems and a mediocre amount of resources.

The Federation just watched as the anti federation forces and other outside groups outsed themselves by veering off course and quickly started conflicts in amongst themselves for dominance over these systems.

This small skirmish between the non-important forces was of no concern to the higher ups.

They just ignored them and went on their merry way as it was better for them if they destroyed each other rather than the Federation themselves having to delay their arrival by putting themselves up to the task.

Besides, they were actually doing the Federation a favour by revealing themselves so early and leaving the main group, as this saved them from having to deal with them when they arrived at Andromeda.

Aside from this minor inconvenience, the fleet’s arrival at the first major star in Andromeda marked a pivotal moment in their journey.

And it came not a moment too soon for Alex and Mira.

After six months of monotony and frustration, the glowing star brought with it a renewed motivation.

Alex walked over next to Mira and joined her at the viewport of his ship.

They watched as the fleet closed in on the system. It was impossible not to feel a surge of anticipation, even if the uncertainty of what awaited them still loomed over their heads.

Beside him, Mira leaned against the console, with her arms crossed and her face sat in a frown.

“So,” Alex was the first to break the silence. “First real stop in Andromeda. What do you think we’ll find? Treasure troves of resources Hostile alien armardas? Or a dead system?”

Mira gave a half hearted shrug. “At this point, I’ll take anything that breaks the monotony. Even a dead system would be more exciting than the last six months.”

Alex couldn’t help but chuckle at her words.

“Careful what you wish for.”

But they also resonated with him.

As the fleet moved closer to the star, the Jewel, stationed at the heart of the formation, began to deploy long range sensor arrays to scan the system.

Almost immediately, data flooded back to the Jewel and the fleet’s many command ships, painting a much clearer picture of the star system’s layout.

It wasn’t a dead system.

The star was surrounded by a wide variety of celestial bodies, including a habital zone containing two rocky planets, a sprawling asteroid belt, and a gas giant with an impressive array of moons, many of which also seemed to be habitable.

More intriguingly however, faint energy signatures emanated from several locations within the system, suggesting the presence of structures and technology.

A communication soon came through the fleetwide channel, this time from Principal Farnes himself.

“This is Principal Farnes. Initial scans of the system indicate potential points of interest, including habitable planets and multiple energy signatures of unknown origin. Exploration teams will be deployed to investigate these sites. All fleet members are to remain on high alert. We don’t know what awaits us here, but we must be prepared for anything.”

Alex perked up at the announcement.

‘Finally some action!’

“Looks like we’re finally getting out of these ships,” he said to Mira, with a spark of excitement in his voice.

They had naturally volunteered themselves into the forefront of action in the fleet, the Exploration teams.

The Exploration teams would be the first to arrive at any site of interest, and as a result would be the first to come into conflict if they encountered other alien races during this process.

This was exactly what Alex wanted.

Conflict.

Something that could finally help him increase his strength.

And as competitive as she is, Mira didn’t want to fall behind him either.

But even if she was unbothered by Alex’s rate of growth, she would still sign herself up for such a thing.

Her ambitions were her own after all.

The fleet wasted no time organising its first wave of exploration teams. Alex and Mira, as part of the prodigies, were naturally assigned to one of the most high priority missions — investigating the energy signatures on the habitable planet.

Their descent to the planet’s surface was smooth, the shuttle weaved through the thick clouds before breaking through to reveal a lush, verdant world below.

Rolling forests stretch as far as the eye could see, interspersed with glittering rivers and jagged mountain ranges

It was breathtaking…
