Chapter 514: Red Alert
Althea didn’t know what she would find when she searched Leon’s communicator, but she actually found on there was not what she was expecting one bit. Contrary to what Leon might be thinking, she didn’t believe his story one bit — at best she believed he might have been roped into doing something he didn’t fully understand.
But after taking a look at his communicator, it was clear that wasn’t the case — well, in some ways he actually was roped into doing it. Unknowingly though.
The first thing she took notice of was the audio file simply titled ‘Mira – emergency’, which she naturally chose to listen to first as it was the one thing that struck out to her. It was her daughter’s name after all, even if they had become estranged from each other over the years, she still held some love and lingering attachment for her daughter – no matter how stoic she tried to make herself seem.
And, just as Leon had described, Mira’s words came flooding through the distortion, and from what Althea could pick out and understand, they weren’t the first civilisation to make it to the Andromeda Galaxy, and even this star system.
In fact, after hearing her daughter’s words and the distress in her voice, she had no doubt that this civilisation might have been even more powerful than the Red Demons even when they were in their prime.
And there were probably many more civilisations just like them dotted all over the Andromeda galaxy, all vying for power and control over the scraps that were left behind after the Red Demon race fell!
‘This isn’t good. We need to activate red alert immediately!’
Althea didn’t take any precautions and didn’t bother voicing her thoughts to any others in the neighbouring room either.
As the head commanding officer of the Jewel, and subsequently the fleet, she had sole authority over what was said and done. Principal Farnes was stronger than her and technically held more authority when it came down to the Federation as a whole, but for this Federal fleet and this mission to Andromeda, he handed over control to Althea.
He didn’t plan on leading things from behind a strategy board in this new adventure — he wanted to be on the frontier of discovery as well, which wasn’t something he could do from behind a desk tens of thousands of light years from all the action.
“Computer, activate red alert!”
Immediately, Althea voiced her command to the Jewel’s core computer, to the surprise of both Leon and the other high ranking officers in the rooms neighbouring this one.
Leon looked at her incredulously, as it was clear as day that she had barely even scanned the contents of his communicator before issuing this order.
But whatever he thought, Althea knew her daughter’s voice and tone, and knew that the audio recording on his communicator was the real deal. It wasn’t something that could be faked.
And if Mira was concerned, then that meant something was powerful enough and terrifying enough to warrant not only her, but Alex’s alarm too. With Alex’s power, if they came across something he couldn’t deal with, then it would be a problem for the entire fleet, not just the expedition team.
Immediately, every hallway, door, and room in the Jewel started flashing with red lights and alarms started blaring, with speakers all across the planet sized ship all saying the same message.
“Red Alert! Red Alert! All personnel to their stations! Red Alert! Re-”
The message continued on looping and repeating, while the soldiers and workers aboard the Jewel all stepped into action. This is what they had been training for. This is what they had spent all those drills, all those months in wait for.
It all came down to this moment.
The fleet wouldn’t issue a red alert drill at a time as sensitive as this one while in the middle of unknown territory, so it must have been real!
It wasn’t long before the real powerhouses like Principal Farnes, Admiral Olgierd and the other S tiers received word of Althea’s enactment of Red Alert above the Jewel, and they all quickly rushed over to hear an explanation from her directly.
A few seconds after activating Red Alert, the once empty interrogation room containing only Leon and Commander Althea became packed with all sorts of powerful S tiers who came rushing over from all over the Fleet.
They all looked at her with questioning looks, as if their expressions were telling her ‘Give us an explanation.’
“Listen to this.”
Althea didn’t say much and instead put Leon’s communicator on speaker so that everyone in the room could hear it clearly, even though it was only a formality considering their hearing was near godlike with their S tier strength.
“… Mira of the Expedition team… powerful alien lifeforms… B tier and above… send help immediately!”
Murmurs began to spread across the room immediately as the audio recording continued to loop, allowing anyone to listen again if they didn’t quite catch everything the first time.
“She said B tier ‘and above’! That means there are at least A tier aliens in this star system, perhaps even S tiers!”
One of the S tiers was quick to catch onto her words, and pointed out this fact instantly.
The others agreed with her and looked at each other with concerning gazes.

If there were such powerful beings in this star system on the outskirts of the galaxy, then what would be waiting for them further in, or all the way at the centre?
It was a scary prospect, but they kept their heads strong considering they were all battle hardened warriors with decades upon decades of experience fighting in the Primordial Expanse.
They had faced strong opponents like this before in the Primordial Expanse, so they wouldn’t be scared and back down from something like this!
If they could win the war against the Red Demons, then this 1 battle would be a piece of cake!
All they had to do was send some equally strong combatants down to deal with the threat.
“But what about the expedition team… Mira… Alex…”
However, one of them quietly raised the main problem from the side while everyone else revelled in the excitement of entering battle.
