Chapter 516: Colossal ship
While the number of reinforcements may seem small, it was important to note that they couldn’t just leave the fleet unprotected while they went off to fight one squad and one ship of aliens.
For all they knew, the situation with Alex, Mira and the rest of the expedition squad could just be the bait to get the powerhouses away from the main fleet, and the real force of Aliens would then strike at the first opportunity, crippling the main fleet while it was at its weakest.
The room stilled, with every eye focused on Althea. Despite the intimidating thought of not knowing how strong exactly the Aliens were, or how many there were, the S tiers were all seasoned warriors who had built their lives on facing impossible odds and coming out on top. Two figures stepped forward without hesitation.
The first was Admiral Olgierd, with his weathered and battle haderend face carrying the experience of countless battles.
“I’ll join you.” He declared proudly. “This isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with unknown odds. And it sure as hell won’t be the last.”
Althea gave him a respectful and knowing nod as he walked over to join her at the side.
The second was a tall woman with dark, piercing eyes and an air of unshakable confidence. Her name was Commander Isla Mistborn, and she was Althea’s very own sister. But she was much more well known in the awakened circles as an excellent combat strategist and one of the stronger S tier combatants among the bunch, ranking around the low 20s out of the 50 or so present.
Her addition to this was both personal and a logical one, firstly she was angry that her own niece was a victim of this surprise attack, but she was also the most experienced when it came to on the fly tactics, even more so than even Olgierd.
“Count me in.” She said with an air of absolute confidence. “I’d like to see how these so called advanced Aliens compare to the Red Demons.”
Althea acknowledged her sister with open arms and a slight bow of her head. “Then it’s settled. The primary strike team will consist of myself, Admiral Olgierd, and Commander Isla. The secondary team leader and strike force will be selected based on readiness.”

Within moments, the entire Jewel’s command deck was abuzz with activity. Alteha, Olgierd and Isla prepared for departure on board a private military ship, while the selected A team leader, a man who only went by the name Jericho, assembled his own B tier squadron. Leon, still stunned by the rapid escalation of events, just sat dazed as he was removed from cuffs and returned back to his duty.
Minutes later, the two teams boarded their respective ships, and the engines roared to life. Alteha took one last glance at the fleet, locking eyes with Farnes, before turning away without a word exchanged between them.
The Jewel and the other flagships stayed behind to protect the main fleet, with Farnes acting as the commanding officer. He was the strongest individual powerhouse they had, so there were no worries that something could go wrong with him at the helm.
The two ships soon disappeared into the void as they became tiny dots, and soon unable to be seen at all.
The distance between them and the planet where the action was all taking place wasn’t that much on a cosmic scale, as the main fleet had parked themselves just outside of the star system and the planet they were headed to was located just inside the habitable zone on the other side of the system, so it would only take them a few minutes to arrive.
These few short minutes passed by in a blink, and the aforementioned planet very quickly came into view. The looming silhouette of the alien world appeared before them, but their focus was taken away by something much more breathtaking.
A few hundred thousand kilometres away from the planet, a huge rip in the fabric of space sat there dormantly. A wormhole. Humanity had not yet advanced to the point where they could open these to traverse the universe much more effectively so seeing an artificially created one in person was quite the spectacle, even for the S tier entourage.
But, to their shock and awe, something was poking out of this wormhole.
Something huge.
“That looks like a huge ship…”
Isla was the first to point it out, with her jaw practically gaping open. It wasn’t the fact that it was an alien ship that had her slackjawed, it was the size of it!
It was around 30% of the size of the Jewel!
To put it into perspective, that single ship probably had more mass than the moon of the planet it was orbiting!
“Just what did those kids manage to get themselves involved with…” Isla spoke her thoughts aloud once again, with her hope for them to still be alive rapidly dwindling the more she took in the sight before her.
If this was what lay in wait for them outside of the planet, she could only imagine and pity the expedition team who had to deal with this on a much more personal level on the surface.
Admiral Olgierd, who had seen his fair share of colossal constructs in his time, narrowed his eyes and muttered. “That’s no ordinary ship. It’s a mobile fortress.”
His mind flicked to the Jewel, and wondered what kind of firepower this alien fortress held in comparison.
“Mobile fortress? Try a small moon.” Isla snapped, her tone filled with frustration.
“If this is the kind of opposition we’re dealing with, the expedition team doesn’t just need help – they need a miracle!”

Althea remained silent, with her focus entirely on the planet growing larger in the main viewport. Her knuckles quickly grew white from how tight she was gripping her armrest, but her thoughts remained steady.
“We’ll neutralise the ship first thing. It’s the ground team’s job to assist the expedition team.”
