Chapter 518: Yaron
Booom!
However, while Alex and Mira were both steeling their resolve, preparing themselves for their inevitable deaths, a loud explosion could be heard from above.
It was so surprising that not only did Alex and Mira take their attention away from the menacing aliens, but even the aliens themselves turned to look up at the source of the explosion.
High above them right at the edge of the planet’s atmosphere, a ship rapidly descended through the ozone layer and then the clouds after that a few seconds later. It was so fast that it broke the sound barrier every time it passed through a new layer of air, sending more and more loud explosions shattering across the surface below.
Alex and Mira couldn’t quite make heads or tails of the situation, as they couldn’t qutie make out if the approaching ship was a Federal ship or not. Part of them hoped it was, but their hopes weren’t high. The timing of things would just be too impeccable if it were.
However, as more seconds passed, their hopes gradually began to rise. Not that they had recognised the approaching ship, but it seemed the aliens on the other side didn’t either. It was this fact that kept them vigilant, but also increased their excitement and adrenaline.
If the Aliens, who were much more powerful than them and had a much higher and more accurate perception, couldn’t recognise if the ship was theirs or not, then the likelihood was that it wasn’t.
This idea sent waves through Alex and Mira, and they prepared themselves for the battle of their lifetime.
The identity of the descending ship no longer mattered to them, instead they waited for it to touchdown. For all they knew this could be a new arriving party outside of both the federation and the opposing aliens, and could be a new group altogether, but this would also be to the benefit of Alex and Mira.
This new group could provide a distraction for them to make an escape, if they could catch the right timing.
Rumble!
Thud!
A few seconds passed and the ship landed on the group a few kilometres away from the opposing sides, and both sides waited with heightened tension, waiting to find out the identities of the new arrivals.
Strangely, Alex couldn’t detect the inside of the ship with his spatial detection, nor could Mira. And from the alternating expressions on the alien’s faces, it appeared they couldn’t either.
*Sssss*
The sound of the exterior doors opening on the ship could be heard to everyone present, as they had no problems focusing their hearing onto the area they had landed.
Everyone there was a powerful awakened, so listening to something like that from a few kilometres away was the least of their abilities.
Step.
Step.
However, when the first figure emerged from the ship, Alex and Mira couldn’t help but glance at each other with shock.
“Humans!”
They both exclaimed at the same time, and the soon recognised the insignia of the Federal military on the approaching figure’s uniform.
Soon, more and more figures appeared from the ship, each one dressed in the same uniform. It became clear to the duo now that Mira’s emergency broadcast had managed to reach the Federal fleet’s ears and they had sent reinforcements over to them.
With this, their hearts couldn’t help but begin to thump wildly in their chests.
They were saved.
Or at least they prayed.
They could only hope that the Federation took Mira’s words seriously and sent the appropriate amount of reinforcements over to deal with the mutltitude of B tier aliens that were waiting for them.
However, that wouldn’t matter if they didn’t send an awakened that was at least A tier.
After the smoke from their landing cleared, it took no time for the new group of soldiers sent by the fleet to arrive next to Alex and Mira, and they began to introduce themselves to each other.
“You must be Alex and Mira, I am Captain Korn. I’ll skip the introductions of my regiment since we are clearly… preoccupied.”

Korn spoke briefly to Alex and nodded to Mira who stood slightly behind him, meanwhile keeping his gaze trained on the opposing aliens the entire time.
“How strong are you and your men captain Korn?”
Alex skipped the formalities as well since Captain Korn took the lead, and got straight to the point.
He didn’t know why the aliens hadn’t taken action yet, but he was glad they gave them the time to at least prepare themselves. Then again, it probably wasn’t out of their goodwill, but because they simply didn’t view them as threats.
But things quickly changed with the arrival of Captain Korn and his men. Alex could see the tension was rising on the faces of not only the B tier aliens, but even their A tier captain.
“I am an A rank Mutant class, while my men are all B tier Mutants themselves.” Korn gave a basic summary at Alex’s request.
‘I don’t know if that will be adequate or not, but it is millions of times better than our previous odds… The only thing we can do is fight and find out!’
Alex made note of the federal party’s strengths, and then everyone turned their attention to the aliens who still stood there patiently.
“And you are?”
Korn spoke to them in the standard federal language, though he wasn’t expecting a response from them.
From what he had gleamed from his short time on the ground, he could tell that they weren’t the chatty type, and the young duo’s expressions also corroborated this fact.
“I am Yaron, of the Lux race. Your people have tresspassed into our territory, leave or you will regret coming here today.”
To the shock of everyone present, the lead alien actually responded to Captain Korn!
‘So they are willing to speak now that someone of their level has arrived. How typical.’
Not only that but even though this Yaron clearly spoke a different garbled mess of sounds, they could understand him clearly.
‘It must be the result of some strange technology…’ Alex thought to himself.
However, very soon though, Yaron’s body started to steam up. Strangely, a thin line formed vertically across his body from his head to his abdomen, as if he were suddenly cut in half.
But that clearly wasn’t the case.
‘It’s an exoskeleton!’
Alex realised quickly what was happening, and he was shocked to find that this whole time, he wasn’t even looking at the Lux’s real form.
It would only be a moment before he could though.
