Chapter 763: Into the Sunset
Author: I MADE A GIANT MISTAKE!!! DON’T UNLOCK THE NEXT CHAPTER!!! I accidentally pasted it there twice, so it costs a lot of coins. I can only delete up to 100 words, so I can’t fix it properly. The best I could do was paste the chapter into chapter 765, so that chapter has both included. I apologize!

…

“Nooo!!” Vex’s adorably weak protests welcomed my declaration as she squirmed in my arms, trying to free herself like I was a kidnapper. But no one bought her act, for we all knew how strong she was.

It was time to feast on the unclaimed flesh of the two-century-old woman who’d made her charming process so incredibly long and hard!

“Future hubby!! Let me down right this instant!” Vex demanded, pummeling my back with her fists while getting carried off into the sunset in the form of a potato sack draped over my shoulders. The weight of her punches was immense, so much so that any normal man would’ve become red paste by now, but also not strong enough to make me feel real pain.

She was just being a drama queen right now.

As such, I landed a second slap on her sensual buttocks, earning myself an adorable yelp and an increase in the intensity of her rather aggressive back massage. “Stop calling me your future hubby. I thought you’d already gotten used to calling me hubby, you did it multiple times back in Lionheart.”

“!!” This adorable woman froze for a second before ceasing her pummeling of my back and began squirming in my hands instead. “It’s not so easy…”

“Who are you and whatever have you done to the ultra shameless woman I’ve known all this while? Did you hit your head during our little Lionheart escapade? When you were the announcer for the large Phenom Trials final event, you spouted one insane line right after the next.”

“It’s different! I was right in my element back there! But now…? I’m being hauled off by a horny guy who plans to make steamy love to me, marking every inch of my body as his!! How do you even dare compare these situations and come to the conclusion that they’re the same?!”

I raised an amused eyebrow at her rather detailed imagination. “Be honest with me, how many erotic books did you read during your 200-year-long life where you’ve never seen a man? You seem to have developed quite the nasty, depraved fetishes, woman.”

She gasped loudly, whether in shock or outrage was hard to tell. “N-n-none, naturally! What kind of question is that?! And I have no depraved fetishes! Also, stop calling me ‘woman,’ I don’t like it!”

“Alright, alright, I get it. Now stop screaming in my ear, I’m begging you.”

“Hmph!”

Now I’ve even gotten her cute pouts. I swear, this woman is just way too adorable for being someone I feared like my life depended on it, assuming her to be an ancient monster. Well, to be fair, my life likely did indeed depend on it, as she would’ve swatted me away like an annoying fly if I said too much disrespectful stuff before she got to know me better, and she’s an ancient monster compared to my age, so…

*Sniff, sniff!*

“Hmm… Indeed, my nostrils hadn’t lied to me. I’m smelling the foul stench of that psycho woman on you, girl.”

I froze.

So did Vex.

Then, like the veil between realms parted, space cracked, and from that silver fracture stepped out a massive figure.

Gone was the pint-sized, chibi fox I’d grown used to seeing lounging around the palace. In her place now stood a towering creature of elegance and raw power: Lady Yoruha in what I assumed to be her true form.

Nine brilliant tails fanned out behind her like a shimmering curtain. Her fur shone like polished obsidian, and her presence alone warped the air with pressure. She was enormous, and her glowing eyes locked onto us.

Vex blinked rapidly.

Then blinked again.

Her voice cracked.

“…Y-You’re… Lady Yoruha?!?”

I tilted my head. “Wait. You’re only realizing that now? You’d already seen her when entering my home’s domain. She was playing with my daughter right in front of your eyes.”

Vex shot me a scornful look. “I was distracted, okay?! I was trying to emotionally recover from the fact that you have a green daughter who was zooming around the place like some overgrown bee!”

I couldn’t help it. I laughed.

Yeah, Rosie could be a bit much at times.

“So… Anyone care to explain why I smell Black Fang’s foul stench on her?”

My attention shifted immediately, realizing the error of my ways when my ears picked up on her entirely unamused tone. I straightened my back and turned to Yoruha, offering a short nod of respect—both because she deserved it… and because ticking her off was a very, very bad idea.

“My apologies, Lady Yoruha. It wasn’t my intention to ignore your presence.”

She said nothing.

I continued, choosing my words carefully.

“She’s Black Fang’s underling, a member of the Vesper Consortium. I know there’s bad blood between Black Fang and you. I won’t pretend to know the full story; in fact, I don’t know anything about it. But what I do know is that Vex isn’t her. She’s a subordinate, sure, but she’s not an extension of the woman. She’s her own person. And she’s under my roof now.”

The air thickened as my mana stirred, slow and deep like the first roll of thunder before a storm.

I held this large kitsune’s monstrous gaze. Even though I was nowhere near her level, it didn’t matter. I had to say this. Had to make it clear.

“I welcomed you into my home, Lady Yoruha. I’m glad you and Rosie get along. Truly, I am beyond glad. But if you think that gives you the right to assault one of my women… then you’re wrong.”

My voice dipped lower.

“I don’t care how much stronger you are. I don’t care if you’re a million times older and more experienced. I don’t care if you’re a living legend, a mythical entity. If you lay a finger on her, I will do everything in my power to kill you.”

A beat of silence passed as all three of us present conducted a muted staredown.

Then another second passed.

And then Yoruha’s imposing form broke into a toothy, terrifyingly amused grin.

Her tails fanned wider, her body shrinking and condensing as she shifted into her adult humanoid form: tall, voluptuous, and dressed in flowing black and white silks that clung to her like a second skin. Her long midnight black hair spilled down her back like liquid moonlight, and her eyes glittered with amusement.

“Fufufu… now that’s the kind of fire I like to see in a man. I can’t help but wonder if your primordial nature is making you bolder, more arrogant than you have any right to be…”

She leaned forward, and a teasing glint appeared in her dark purple eyes as she peered at Vex.

“I’ve always known who you are, hex witch. I must apologize for playing this prank on you… After playing around with a child for a day straight, I suddenly felt rather mischievous myself.”

She then looked at me.

…
