- Chapter 59 - Chapter 59 Hail Mary
Chapter 59: Hail Mary Chapter 59: Hail Mary The pod that had been plummeting toward the ground exploded in a brilliant flash, its metallic structure bursting apart before it could even hit the earth.
The explosion rocked the landscape, sending dust and smoke through the air.
His eyes snapped to the horizon, trying to find the source of the blast.
He scanned the area in all directions, but there was no sign of a sniper, no visible targets.
What the hell just hit that pod?
It had to be a beast core powered artillery round.
He couldn’t figure it out.
But before he could contemplate it further, his ears caught the sound of a distant roar-an unmistakable, high-pitched whine that sent chills down his spine.
The unmistakable roar of multiple engines.
Suddenly, the sky was alive with movement.
Jets, sleek and sharp like cutting blades, shot across the horizon, their engines roaring with an intensity that split the air.
Lucas’s eyes widened in recognition.
Air support.
The cavalry had arrived.
Dozens of fighter jets streaked across the sky, cutting through the thickening clouds in perfect formation, moving with an efficiency that could only come from elite forces.
The sound of their afterburners practically shattered the atmosphere as they broke the sound barrier in coordinated flight patterns.
For a moment, it felt like the world around him had just shifted, the weight of the battle easing ever so slightly.
But there was no time to celebrate.
The air support wasn’t just showing up for dramatic effect.
The pods, more than Lucas had expected, were still dropping from the sky.
Each one hit the ground with a thundering impact, cracking the ground beneath their descent.
More Harbingers.
The fighters continued to do their best to intercept the pods, knocking them out of the air before they could land, but some still made it to the surface.
He could see the shapes, massive and terrifying, as they began to rise from the wreckage of their pods.
Harbingers, multiple of them, were emerging.
Still, Lucas didn’t have to worry about that right now.
Not with the air support.
He turned his focus to where he had left Noah and began to make his way toward the area, hoping beyond hope that the boy was still alive-and more importantly, still in one piece.
Those pods landing…he didn’t want to think the worse.
Just as he moved, the unmistakable thrum of another ship’s descent reached his ears.

His heart leapt into his throat as a craft-a familiar one-landed with a heavy thud not too far from where Noah had been.
The sight of the ship gave him a brief moment of relief.
It was similar to the Greta 69, the very craft they had boarded when they first came from Earth to Cannadah.
The same vessel that had brought them here.
Lucas moved quickly now, urgency in every step.
He needed to get to Noah before anything else.
The presence of the air support and the new arrival was a stroke of luck-an unexpected one-but it didn’t change the fact that they were still in a very dangerous situation.
Harbingers were still landing.
More could be coming.
The battle was far from over.
But for now, with help finally arriving, Lucas couldn’t help but feel a small sense of hope stir in his chest.
Maybe, just maybe, they would survive this.
—- As the Greta 69 craft landed, its engines roaring in a dramatic descent, the ground shook beneath Lucas’s feet.
The ramp descended, and a figure clad in black beast gear, from head to toe, emerged, commanding attention with his formidable presence.
Every inch of the man’s body was encased in high-tech armor, sleek and menacing.
The gear was designed not just for protection, but for intimidation, with jagged lines and angular plates that resembled the hide of a predator.
His helmet, reflective and smooth, hid most of his features, but his towering figure left no doubt as to his authority.
This was Commander Albright, and he had just arrived to make his presence known.
Right behind him came a collection of well-known figures from the academy.
Mr.
Rourke, the stoic and unshakable homeroom teacher of Class 1C, emerged with a sharp gaze.
His calm demeanor contrasted sharply with the chaos unfolding around them.
Close by, Mr.
Vain, the sharp-dressed, somewhat aloof homeroom teacher of Class 1A, adjusted his gloves, his eyes scanning the battlefield with a calculated look.
He didn’t seem disturbed in the slightest-just another day for him, it seemed.
Then, there was Master Anng, the martial arts instructor who always had an aura of discipline around him.
With a serene look on his face, he moved with the grace of a well-trained fighter, ready to step in if necessary.
But it was Commander Albright who immediately took center stage.
His piercing eyes locked onto the battlefield, and without a second of hesitation, he zeroed in on the threat.
A two-horned Harbinger was charging toward their position, its grotesque form towering and ready to rip through anything in its path.
But the moment Albright laid eyes on it, his body moved with incredible speed.
His armor-powered legs tore through the ground as he leapt into the air, his voice thundering as he yelled, “Where is my son?!” With a roar that shook the heavens, the Commander’s kick-a nuclear-infused attack-struck the Harbinger’s head with an earth-shattering force.
The creature’s skull crumpled under the immense pressure, the explosion of energy from the impact sending a shockwave through the surrounding area.
The Harbinger was decimated in a single blow, its head exploding in a cloud of alien debris and blood, its body crumpling lifeless to the ground.
Adrian Albright, the Commander’s son, had been part of the ill-fated expedition from Class 1B, and seeing this Harbinger fall so easily told Lucas everything he needed to know about the power of the Albright family.
As more ships began to descend from the skies, dropping additional soldiers from the academy’s Earth base to reinforce them, the other teachers moved into action.
Mr.
Rourke, Mr.
Vain, and Master Anng each took a different path, engaging with the remaining threats in their usual fashion, their expertise evident in the fluidity of their movements.
However, there was one more person who emerged from the craft, a figure whose entrance caused an immediate stir.
Miss Brooks, the elusive and seductive teacher of Class 1B, appeared last.
Unlike the others, who were in standard combat gear, she wore something that accentuated her curves, hugging her voluptuous form like a second skin.
Her combat attire-tight black leather with silver trim-seemed crafted for both functionality and allure.
The outfit was form-fitting, outlining every curve of her figure.
Her waist was narrow, her hips wide, and her chest, perfectly proportioned, was lifted by the tight fit of the armor.
The high heels she wore, though impractical for most, seemed made for her, giving her an added height and an air of dominance.
But it wasn’t just her appearance that commanded attention.
Miss Brooks held a weapon that made even the toughest soldiers step back in awe: a long, wickedly sharp scythe.
The weapon hummed with energy, its blade glowing with the telltale signs of beast core power, crackling with raw, dangerous energy.
The scythe seemed to pulse with life, and as she moved, it thrummed in the air, ready to slice through anything in its path.
She didn’t rush into the chaos like the others.
Instead, she scanned the battlefield with a calculated look, her gaze eventually landing on Lucas, who had been watching the fight from a distance.
Her eyes narrowed, and with swift steps, she moved toward him, her scythe swishing behind her.
Lucas tensed, wondering if she had come to assess the situation or if she had a particular reason for seeking him out.
When she reached him, her voice was sharp, carrying an intensity that matched her dangerous presence.
“Where are my students?!” she demanded, her tone leaving no room for hesitation.
Lucas hesitated for a moment, before pointing toward the spot where he had last seen Noah.
“He’s over there, near the old clearing.
Injured, but alive…
for now,” he said, the exhaustion weighing heavy in his voice.
Miss Brooks didn’t hesitate.
Without a word, she spun on her heel, her scythe glowing brighter as she made her way toward Noah’s location, ready to intervene if needed.
As she moved, Lucas couldn’t help but feel the tension in the air.
The arrival of the reinforcements had shifted the tide of the battle, but with these figures stepping into the fray, he could only wonder how much longer they could hold out before the true scale of the invasion was revealed.
The Harbingers were just the beginning, and with Commander Albright and Miss Brooks now in play, Lucas knew things were about to escalate even further.
For now, all he could do was wait and pray that Noah-along with the others-could survive whatever came next.
