Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel - Chapter 376
Chapter 376: The Goal Is Near
Chiron came out of the Shadow Pool. He walked over to Mani and looked over him. Mani was a complete mess of blood, broken bones and cuts that filled his body, making him look like a bee hive.
“Nice! That was a really good show!” Chiron chuckled.
Chiron squat close to Mani. He could see in Mani’s eyes that he was still alive, but this was not Chiron’s problem.
Because of the use of that technique, Mani was now in a half-alive state.
Normally, Mani could have used the technique and even taken his enemy’s strength.
However, the mirror egg was an incredible artefact.
The mirror egg fed on Divine energy, coincidentally, the Runes on the body of a godchild were divine.
This meant that the blue rune on Mani’s chest was just food for the mirror egg.
However, just to be sure, Chiron tore his shirt open
And there it was.
The blue rune glowed in a faint blue light. Obviously, it had been exhausted.
“Hmmm! And there is the price jewel. I was starting to think would have to do this without it. But you know what they say, the safer the better.”
Chiron waved his hand and a knife appeared from the System.
Whistling lightly like an old farmer, he went to work.
Carefully, he carved out the rune, flesh, muscle and all from Mani’s chest.
This process should have otherwise been a very painful thing to go through but Mani could no longer feel his body.
His cells had practically gone numb from the overload of divine energy.
However, he still stretched a hand towards Chiron. Obviously, his eyes had a lot of questions.
Chiron saw this and sighed. “You know, I am not a wicked person so I’ll just tell you this. At least that way, you can die in peace. After all, things are never as you think them to be.
Firstly, your wife did not commit suicide as you think. She was compelled to do it by Barbara.
Secondly, this Mirror egg has been feeding off your soul for a long time.
I only tweaked it a bit to ensure that this was your last.”
After saying this, Chiron stood to his feet as he turned about to leave.
He knew that Mani did not have much to live. But he was not going to end the man’s life.
After all, he had already messed with fate as it was. A little more might yield interesting results.
The pain of thoughts was the mind’s torture.
And Chiron was its current instigator.
Chiron had come for the mirror egg but managed to still get the blue rune.
With a sharp whistle in the air, the core beast that had brought him landed.
Chiron mounted it and in no time was in the air once more.

He was going back to the centre of the highlands.
For what he wanted to do, he needed the aura energy vein under that mountain.
Just the thought of it was very exciting to his mind.
After all, Chiron aimed not just to improve in power, and enter the bronze rank, but to achieve the treasure hiding deep within the vein.
He cracked a slight smile at the corner of his lips as he urged the core beast to move faster.
A little while after Chiron had left, a figure pushed on the bones of the dead surrounding her.
Barbara slowly stood to her feet. She was wounded all over with some parts of her body still showing signs that it was about to melt off.
Even her face was a total disaster, with half of it looking as if it would melt off.
However, she still stood, and with a determined gaze, she looked in the direction Chiron had gone.
“Igbi!” She gritted her teeth harshly, her hatred evident.
….
Meanwhile, back at the mountain of the Union, the centre of the highlands, something else was happening.
It was a bloody slaughter.
This could not be helped, after all, Prince Victor and the remaining commanders, a total of nine in number had circumnavigated their way from the Vandorian camp even before the assault of the camp by the core beast had begun.
It had been a sneak manoeuvre, but at the same time, it had been a very beautiful one.
After all, Prince Victor’s aim had never been to kill the Highlanders.
No! It had been something else.
Of course, winning the war was a part of the agenda. However, even winning the war was a sure deal the moment that he could take this central mountain for himself.
This place, a scared location to all Highlanders was the key to both ending the war and probably kicking his father off the throne.
Finally, he could take what he believed was rightfully his.
The Union camp had been left with very little defence, with mostly the sick and injured left behind.
All others went to war to prove their mantle.
Taking the land was going to be easy. At least that was what the Prince believed.
And at first, it was.
He had come with none other than the commanders, all of whom were battle-tested, blessed from the ruling tribes of Vandoria.
The lowest of them was in the peak Copper rank, and the highest was a second-rank bronze cultivator.
They entered the premises killing.
The Highlanders that had been left behind had been at a loss.
There was absolutely nothing that they could do, and Prince Victor slaughtered his way to the central mountain.
There were even some Highlanders who remembered that a person like Abel from the Holy Church was present.
Remembering that he had mystical powers, they rushed to his cabin seeking help.
However, Abel did not so much as open the door.
All he did was enjoy a cup of tea as he enjoyed the show of hos own machinations.
And when the disturbance outside became too much, he waved his hand and all the men that came to his door were swallowed into the ground…
