Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel - Chapter 520
Chapter 520: Maverick Vs Dylan
Meanwhile, in another part of the world, in the new beast kingdom, Maverick stood in Hadi’s personal office. Despite being called an office, it was a vast room, exuding power and dominance. The doors and curtains bore the symbol of Hadi’s cult, two green eyes, giving the space an eerie yet majestic aura.
Maverick, the Fox beast man, stood before Hadi, delivering his report on the kingdom’s status. “We have taken in another 400,000 beast men and women, of which a hundred thousand are sick or old. Our food supplies won’t sustain all of them through the rest of the winter.”
Hadi nodded thoughtfully. “No problem. Remove those that are useless, and then some more. Sell them off to the Holy Church as per our agreement.”
Maverick nodded, jotting down notes before Hadi inquired about the expansion of the New Beast Kingdom to absorb the old beast kingdom.
Maverick responded, “After the death of the senators, most of their heirs have surrendered to us. Those who didn’t have fled. I have instructed the soldiers to kill them on sight. A hunt for them and the resources they amassed before going into hiding has begun. All the soldiers for this quest have been given the new formulae you worked on for field exercise, just as you instructed.”
Hadi nodded approvingly. “That is good. And what of the Navy? We will need their power, at least to manage and break free from the control of the Holy Church. It breaks my heart that we need to sell our people to survive. especially now, that the zodiac families have shown their might again. We will be better off with their support and protection.”
Maverick shook his head, “There is bad news on that front. For some reason, the Navy of the old kingdom has declared autonomy, free of any state.”
Hadi frowned, “Can they do that?”
Maverick nodded, “It’s not uncommon for the military to declare a coup during times of state unrest. Though I’ve never heard of this particular situation, it seems they are declaring themselves a military nation, isolated from any rule. They have taken several islands as their territory, and food is not their problem as they have access to the sea. The only good thing is that they do not intend to stop our trade with the waterways and even offer to trade with us.”
Hadi sighed, “Something is not right. The Admiral of that fleet is quite submissive when it comes to politics. It’s strange to see him develop some backbone.” He leaned back in his chair, massaging his temples in frustration.
Then, a thought struck him, and he sat up straight. “And what of Dylan?”
Maverick frowned, “You mean the HUMAN!”
Hadi rolled his eyes, “I know you are not fond of his kind, but he still has a name.”
“I know. I call him Shit Head.”
Hadi chuckled, “And why is that?”
“All he does all day is train, train, train, but he does not seem to be making significant improvement, even though he is an awakened. Only a Shit head will be that stupid. In fact, I do not see the big deal with him. He is just a spoiled brat.”
“If I were that blessed, I would do something better with my talent,” Maverick stated confidently.
Hadi gave an intelligent smile, “Are you saying you are better?”
Maverick puffed out his chest. “Better? I am the best there is!”
Hadi nodded, a glint of amusement in his eyes. “Good, then you can train him.”
Those words shocked Maverick. He shook his head vehemently, “I’ll easier kill him than train him.”
Hadi nodded back, “That’s even better. Warriors learn at the eve of death. You can train him.”
Maverick wanted to complain, but Hadi’s stern gaze silenced him. “And that is all.”
Angry but unable to refuse, Maverick bowed, “Yes, prophet.”
…
In an arena, Hadi’s personal training ground. In the dead of night, someone was training there.
It was none other than Dylan. He came here at night when everyone else was asleep, preferring solitude due to his human nature. The others did not approve of him, and he found solace in training alone.
Sweat pooled beneath him as he wielded a wooden sword against a stationary dummy. Each swing was precise, his muscles rippling under the moonlight. His upper body, riddled with scars, was exposed, glistening with sweat. He struck the dummy again and again, each hit fueled by rage and a desire for revenge. Every blow he landed, he imagined it was Chiron’s face he was striking. Chiron, the reason he had lost the woman he loved.
Suddenly, a presence made itself known. Maverick appeared at one corner of the arena, leaning against the wall, watching Dylan practice. After a moment, he gave a derisive humph, “That is why you are such a Shit head.”
Dylan froze mid-swing, the remark cutting through the quiet night. He turned, eyes blazing, facing Maverick’s smug expression.

Dylan turned, his gaze hardening when he saw who it was. Recognizing Maverick, he frowned and looked away, resuming his training with even more determination.
Maverick’s taunting voice cut through the night air again, “You are only so brave because you’re fighting a dummy that can’t hit back. All you’re doing is disturbing the air with your smell and staining the ground with your trash sweat.”
Dylan paused, gripping the wooden sword tightly, but then he resumed his strikes.
Maverick continued his provocation, “Maybe that’s why you lost your woman.”
A low growl escaped Dylan’s throat, anger surging through him. He turned sharply, spiritual energy crackling around his sword as he hurled it with all his might at Maverick. But before the sword could reach its target, Maverick’s tail shot out, catching the blade mid-air.
“Lousy!” Maverick commented, his voice dripping with disdain. “Even my grand mother hits better than you, and she can’t walk…But..” he nodded—, “…if you really want to cause me damage, try with something more… challenging!” He flashed an evil smirk, his fox teeth glinting in the dim light. He waved his hand, picking up a real metal sword from the nearby rack, and threw it to Dylan. The sword landed blade-down into the ground in front of him with a resonant thud.
“I heard awakening grants special privileges. You were a stone rank cultivator before your awakening, but now, you are at the early stage of the copper realm. On the other hand, I have been a blue cored furry-man for many years. Let’s see how well you do. I’ll even give you a handicap.” Maverick smiled as he brought out a small bell and pinned it to his shirt.
“If you can make this bell ring one time throughout the fight, you win!”
