Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel - Chapter 543
Chapter 543: Three Days Deadline
Just as Dylan began to celebrate his hard-earned victory, he suddenly felt a sharp shock in his chest. He staggered, clutching at his heart, and fell to the ground.
Pain surged through him, and he coughed up blood, the metallic taste flooding his mouth as he convulsed. Blood spattered the ground around him, and the world spun. The pain was excruciating, relentless, and then everything went black.
Maverick saw this. Even he knew that he had not hit Dylan that hard. This was a medical emergency. Immediately, he called for the guards.
As Dylan blanked out, he could hear the faint voices rushing over him in the back ground.
When Dylan awoke, he found himself back in his room, the familiar ceiling above his head. His body felt heavy, and every muscle ached. As his vision cleared, he saw a figure seated in a chair by his bed. It was Hadi, the leader of the New Beast Kingdom. Standing close behind Hadi was Maverick, his eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and a bit of concern. Which actually surprised Dylan. After all, the fox man was easier addicted to kicking his ass than he was to caring about him.
Hadi’s expression was stern, a deep frown etched across his face. He wasted no time with pleasantries. “Have you ever heard of how children inherit the blessings of their parents?” he asked as soon as Dylan’s eyes met his.
Dylan, still groggy and confused, nodded slowly. “Yes, I do.”
“Good,” Hadi replied, his voice carrying a weight of significance. “Well, guess what, they also inherit their curses.”
Dylan’s eyes widened at this unexpected revelation. He tried to sit up, but a wave of pain forced him back down.
Hadi continued, his tone grave and unyielding. “When a Dantian undergoes an awakening, it is practically a rebirth of some kind. This is the reason why the blood contract you signed did not begin to kill you the moment you decided to go against it. Instead, it was left dormant. But I did warn you that you only had a few months to live. It has been several months since that time, and you have surprisingly survived, which made me reassess your capabilities.”
Hadi leaned forward, his eyes boring into Dylan’s. “It seems your S-grade Dantian is drawing power from the suffering inflicted by the blood contract, pushing your abilities even further. Honestly, it is fascinating. Your Dantian is unique, perhaps unprecedented. But as I said, children inherit not just blessings but also curses from their parents. After your Dantian awakened to its current state, it seems the blood oath has also grown stronger. As of this moment, if you do not return to the Vandorian Kingdom within three days, you will definitely die.”
Dylan’s mind raced, trying to process the gravity of Hadi’s words. His breath came in shallow gasps, and the reality of his situation began to sink in. He was living on borrowed time, the curse of the blood oath now more potent than ever.
Hadi sat back in his chair, his gaze unwavering.
Maverick remained silent, but his eyes said it all as he looked at Dylan and gave a slight nod. Maverick’s presence was a reminder of the brutal training Dylan had endured.
The room was suddenly thick with tension as the weight of Hadi’s declaration pressed down on Dylan like a physical force.
“You have three days,” Hadi repeated, his voice like a judge passing a sentence. “Make your choice wisely.”
Dylan’s heart pounded in his chest, the urgency of his predicament clear. The room felt colder, the shadows deeper. He knew he had no choice but to confront the consequences of his past decisions.
Hadi’s stern expression softened just a bit as he continued, “Since your oath concerns the Vandoria Kingdom, just stepping foot within it will alleviate your predicament. But knowing you, you’ll most likely go looking for trouble. So, I made a little send-off gift for you.”
With a wave of Hadi’s hand, Maverick left the room. When he returned, he carried a finely crafted black wooden box. The box was small, adorned with intricate carvings of the signature eyes representing the New Beast Kingdom. Maverick placed it before Dylan, his expression a mix of amusement and seriousness. “You’d better be grateful, shithead! The Prophet has been working on these since the day you were brought here.” Maverick opened the box with a flourish.
Dylan’s eyes widened in shock as he saw the contents. “But I thought this was only for those who were born as beast men and under your army?” he asked, his voice trembling with disbelief.
Hadi nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Yes, but our encounter gave me a blast of inspiration, and I couldn’t help myself. If I hadn’t met you when I did, it’s safe to say this would have taken me another twenty years to make. Such a sudden burst of inspiration is rare for men of my kind, and since I became leader of the land, the welfare of the people takes priority in my mind. I recalibrated those, so even humans with your Dantians can use them. Take it as my thanks to you for such a precious gift.”
Dylan bowed his head in gratitude, overwhelmed by the gesture. “Thank you, Hadi. This means more to me than you know.”
But Hadi wasn’t finished. Maverick waved his tail, flinging a sword from the side of the room into his hands. “I know you have that totem sword, but it consumes too much spiritual energy, and you only have so much to spare, especially with that contract in your heart. Use this. It was forged from the tooth of a dead wild Ocean-based Core beast shark.” Maverick unsheathed the sword, revealing a blade that shimmered with an eerie, blue light.
Maverick demonstrated the sword’s sharpness by throwing a strand of his hair into the air. The hair drifted down, landing on the blade and slicing cleanly in two without any resistance. The cut was so precise that it left no doubt about the sword’s incredible sharpness.
Dylan’s eyes widened further. “Incredible! Such a sharp sword!” He took the weapon, feeling its perfect balance and the faint hum of energy coursing through it. “Thank you, Maverick.”
Hadi leaned back, his eyes still fixed on Dylan. “Remember, you have three days. Make the most of them.”
