Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel - Chapter 610
Chapter 610: To Build My Legend
The Diligence family’s army, a formidable force of 10,000 warriors, stood ready at the edge of their territory, their ranks stretching like a river of steel and muscle under the pale morning light. Each soldier was clad in the family’s signature dark purple, intricately engraved armor, inlaid with gleaming purple runes that pulsed faintly, channeling spiritual energy to bolster their strength and endurance. The air around them was thick with this energy, resonating with the resolve of battle-tested men who had seen countless skirmishes and lived to tell of them.
Among them, some warriors rode upon powerful core beasts that were as awe-inspiring as they were deadly. One beast, the Storm Fang, stood over ten feet tall with silver fur crackling with veins of lightning. Its eyes glowed an eerie blue, and with each step, thunder rolled beneath its paws.
Another, the Iron Horned Drake, had scales like metal plates shimmering under the light, with a massive horn crowning its head. Its long tail, armored in jagged spikes, could rip through ranks of enemy soldiers like paper. The most fearsome of all, a beast known as the Ember Lion, had a mane that seemed made of living fire; each exhale released a wave of heat and sparks, and its roar sent ripples of fire across the ground, leaving scorched earth in its wake.
Some soldiers manned impressive warships, a fleet of gleaming vessels armed for land and air. These ships were covered in protective runes and lined with intricate carvings depicting the legends of the Diligence family’s warriors from generations past. Each ship bore weaponry of mass destruction, powered by core energy, with cannons capable of leveling forests and missiles that hummed with devastating spiritual energy. The hulls of these ships were covered in charms to deflect attacks, their exteriors sleek yet brutal, ready to unleash fury on any who dared to approach.
Tension hung in the air, sharpened by the hum of spiritual energy that bound this army together. The soldiers, battle-hardened and resolute, tightened their grips on weapons, their eyes focused on the horizon, where the shadows of the Chastity family’s advancing army loomed closer.
They knew their commander-in-chief, would soon arrive to lead them. Of course, who it would be was a silent debate in their hearts.
After all, news of the patriarch’s death was yet to reach them.
As they waited in silence, their faces hard and expressions grim, the faint echoes of the Chastity family’s march grew louder.
In time, the Chastity family army emerged from the haze on the horizon, their sheer numbers painting the land like a tidal wave. A hundred thousand soldiers strong, each figure gleamed under the sun in pristine white armor, a color so blinding it seemed to erase the very shadows around them.
The Diligence family soldiers in the front lines watched with growing dread as they saw the full might of their rivals closing in. They were outnumbered ten to one, and every step the Chastity soldiers took seemed to drive the weight of that fact deeper into their bones.
Commanders and foot soldiers alike could see the stark disparity in power. The Chastity family’s warships loomed like monstrous specters behind their ranks, each vessel dwarfing those of the Diligence family. These ships were fortress-like, forged with blackened steel and adorned with complex, shimmering white runes. Their cannons crackled with energy, and each cannon blast was rumored to tear through a regiment with ease. Atop these ships stood cannons with engraved silver plating and barrels wider than a grown man, capable of leveling hillsides in a single volley. Beside them were airships with streamlined hulls, glowing with sacred symbols and hovering like silent predators above the battlefield.
And the core beasts, red and purple core beasts— towering, exotic, terrifying — were an arsenal unto themselves.
One of them, the Moon-Touched Leviathan, slithered beside the Chastity soldiers on dozens of scaled limbs, a silver and white behemoth with eyes that shimmered with moonlight. Its fangs gleamed like polished ivory, and it was known to swallow men whole in a single lunge.
Another, the Spectral Phoenix, flew above, its wings trailing a glistening frost that froze anything it touched, while its piercing cry echoed through the valley, chilling the hearts of all who heard it. Finally, the Iron Charger, a massive, armor-plated core beast with muscles like boulders, strode alongside the soldiers. Its hooves left cracks in the earth, and steam hissed from its nostrils, its raw power unmistakable.
The mere sight of the Chastity family forces made some among the Diligence ranks take a step back in fear, their fingers tightening on their weapons as doubts flickered in their minds. Whispers spread like ripples, and even a hardened veteran felt his heart skip as he took in the monstrous spectacle before him.
Then, suddenly, the air shifted, and a powerful roar cut through the murmurs of doubt. Eunid arrived, riding atop his own core beast, a creature unlike any other. His mount landed with a thunderous impact, causing dust to rise as it settled before the Diligence army. It was an Ashen Wyrm, a beast the color of storm clouds, with scales that seemed to shift and swirl like smoke in the wind. Its crimson eyes glowed fiercely, and on its back, Eunid sat with an air of confidence that immediately steadied the faltering ranks.
The soldiers straightened, their fear dissolving slightly as Eunid dismounted and stepped forward, meeting each gaze with an intensity that silenced every murmur.
But yet, it arose new doubts. Why was the Diligence prince here, and not a commander like Alfred?
Eunid glanced back at his men with a side smirk, eyes glinting with fierce resolve. Without a word, he gave a solid kick to the side of his core beast, the Ashen Wyrm, and in a rush of wind, they shot up into the air, soaring straight toward the advancing Chastity forces.
A ripple of shock spread through the Diligence family soldiers, gasps filling the ranks as they watched their young master dive headlong into the enemy alone. Many whispered in disbelief, wondering if their family prince had finally lost his mind, charging an enemy ten times stronger with nothing but his beast and his iron will.
The Chastity army, in the midst of their disciplined advance, suddenly halted. Eunid’s Ashen Wyrm descended like a thunderbolt, landing in front of the commander who led the charge. Weapons were raised, and archers drew their strings tight, but with a firm wave of his hand, the Chastity commander ordered his forces to hold fire. He recognized the young man dismounting before him, and a twisted smile crept across his scarred face.
Before Eunid stood none other than Commander Kael Bloodrend, a notorious and battle-hardened veteran from one of the oldest branch families of the Chastity family. Kael was known as “The Iron Reaper” — a name whispered with a shudder across the Holy Kingdom.
His war record was legendary, boasting of countless victories in brutal conflicts along the Blood Plains and the siege of the Silver Vale, where he had once single-handedly cleaved through an entire company of the Zodiac family armies.
It was said that Kael fought in the infamous Great War of the Ten Fingers of solitude, facing down dozens of enemy soldiers at once and emerging unscathed, covered in the blood of his foes.
Kael’s face bore a thick, grizzled beard, streaked with gray, scars etched deep into his skin as if carved by the hands of death itself. A vicious gash cut across his right eye, trailing down to his neck, a reminder of his countless brushes with death. Despite his age, his muscular frame was an imposing fortress, and he wore only minimal armor — a testament to his ruthless confidence. His mere presence exuded a raw, brutal power, and his reputation alone was enough to weaken the hearts of lesser soldiers.
Eunid walked calmly toward Kael, hands clasped behind his back, every step a defiance of the danger before him. The soldiers on both sides held their breath as the two figures — one young and resolute, the other grizzled and terrifying — met in the silent space between two armies, with fate itself seeming to pause and await their next move….
