Chapter 626: Sister Radiance and The Seer Forget An Important Player
The Seer lazily turned from the glowing window, her silken robe shimmering as if it absorbed the colors of the glass. Her movements were deliberate, almost mocking in their slowness, as she regarded the smoky crow perched nearby.
“Brother Shadow,” she began with a faint smirk, her voice carrying a teasing lilt, “you worry far too much about Manu Madayaki. He is but…a cockroach.”
The crow’s smoky feathers rippled with agitation. “Well, that cockroach is about to screw it up for us,” it retorted sharply. “If the gods become angry with us, they will intervene. And if that happens, we will never advance into godhood. Never.”
The Seer sighed, dragging her fingers lazily through the air as though dismissing an invisible nuisance. She even yawned, covering her mouth with a dainty hand. “Always so dramatic, Brother Shadow,” she said, her tone laced with exaggerated boredom. “But fine. I’ll stop him.”
The crow tilted its head skeptically but said nothing more. With a final shiver, it dissolved into a curling wisp of smoke and disappeared into the ether.
As the last traces of the crow faded, a new presence emerged by the same window. The room grew subtly brighter as a woman with glowing skin appeared, her very form radiating a soft, otherworldly light. Her nearly transparent silk gown floated like a gentle mist around her, and she reclined mid-air, as though resting on an invisible bed of clouds.
The Seer didn’t even turn to acknowledge her. Instead, she casually stretched her arms, her gaze still fixed on the glass patterns. “What brings you, Sister Radiance?”
The glowing woman pushed a cascade of luminous, flowery hair behind her shoulder. Her voice was commanding yet oddly cordial. “Manu’s resurrection was not unforeseen,” she began, her words carrying a sharp edge. “But taking the Evil Child’s body…that was unexpected. I had actually hoped that twat was better than that.”
The Seer chuckled lightly, shaking her head. “Well, he was able to escape my eyes. I can see why uou had so much praise for him. But at the end of the day, all evil children are the same. Ever hungry for power. Ever greedy. That’s why they always fail. In truth, I doubt I needed to even lift a finger, but this one had actually been a pain in my ass. And there is this strange feeling I get from him… like, my origin power of fate loses its hold when it comes to him. I really hate it.” She frowned a bit, “also, I still have never been able to locate his fate thread.”
Sister Radiance did not say anything. Nothing of the fact that her eyes had seen a much different world where this Chiron that they knew was not just different as a person but different as a soul.
Regardless, what has happened has happened, and all the hope she secretly had for Chiron went down the hole.
Of course, she did feel like it was because she meddled, but then again, she did expect more from him.
From now on, she would have to do things differently. But an immediate problem was at hand. After all, it was obvious that manu was trying to break through into full godhood.
This was not something the other demi gods wanted to see.
Power was in constant competition with itself. After all, the advancement would require a lot of Dao, faith, and energy, and if successful, they would be less for the others to enjoy.
They woukd have to wait thousands of years again before anyone tried again, else the possibility of failure becomes a reality.
Sister Radiance leaned closer, her glowing eyes narrowing. “You can’t stop Manu, even if you wanted to. Brother Smoke is over his head, fearing the loss of his chance at godhood. He is close, after all. And you know how fragile he’s become, clinging to promises from certain gods.”
Finally, the Seer turned, her expression bemused. “Oh, I’m well aware,” she said smoothly, folding her arms. “After all, Brother Smoke is in charge of us demi-gods and this world. But even he knows the heavenly tribulation for godhood is no small matter. Especially because Manu like all the others has been holding off on his tribulations since the gold realm.” She gave a side smile, her eyes glittering. “Stopping Manu has never been a problem. We’ve done it before. We can do it again.”
From the gold realm, one was supposed to receive heavenly tribulations, but one could still resist it with their might.
However, it can make the heavens very angry and the punishment compiled into a much bigger heap with addition to the one necessary for advancement into godhood.
Sister Radiance tilted her head, her radiant form pulsing faintly as she chuckled softly. “I’d love to see how you plan to do that. Manu is breaking no rules, so he can’t be imprisoned. And let’s not forget your contract with the Demon Mother, your twin sister. If you move, you break it. And if you break it, she will too.”
The Seer’s chuckle was low and melodic as she leaned against the window frame. “Firstly, who said anything about stopping his ceremony?” Her voice turned almost playful. “He can slaughter them all for all I care.”
Sister Radiance arched a glowing brow.
“But advancing into godhood…” The Seer’s smirk widened, her fingers tracing an invisible pattern in the air. “Now that is something I can’t quite guarantee for him.”
At this time, Radiance had an idea of what the seer was considering looking at that smile.
After all, humans may be greedy by nature, but all living things fell under the Dao and will to survive at all costs, and fir Demigods, Surviving meant mire power.
Of course, they were others with their own plans, but no one…absolutely no one took note of plans long set in place by one whose soul was imprisoned in his own body.
After all, in this game of power, Chiron was not considered a player. But wasn’t he….?
