Chapter 628: The Chosen Day
The Chosen Day…
From the heavens above, thousands of feet high, the entire Continent of Almace appeared as if it were a sacred altar. Five colossal pillars, each pulsating with radiant runic lights, stood at the edges of the land, arranged perfectly to form the shape of a pentagram. The runes flickered in rhythmic patterns, their energies weaving through the air like golden threads of a celestial tapestry.
At the very center of this star, a smaller, but no less magnificent, pillar stood—a platform carved from obsidian and adorned with intricate, glowing carvings of ancient sigils. The platform appeared to breathe, exuding an aura of raw, unfathomable power. This was the nexus, the heart of the grand ritual that would forever alter the fate of the world.
This day had arrived, and no one could deny its importance. Across the continent, the air was thick with anticipation, dread, and curiosity. From villages to sprawling cities, people gathered in hushed crowds, their faces turned toward the glowing pillars in the distance.
Manu stepped forward, his gait confident, his excitement barely contained. He had not slept the night before, his mind buzzing with the euphoria of impending power, much like a child too thrilled for the first day of school. His grin was wide, his golden eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light.
The Tesseract, a swirling construct of black and gold energy, materialized around him, pulling him to the central platform with an effortless grace.
As it deposited him at the heart of the ritual site, waves of people flooded toward the edges of the platform, drawn by promises of riches and glory. They had come from all corners of the land, unaware of their true role in Manu’s grand plan.
Manu’s ceremonial attire was a masterpiece of divine craftsmanship. His robes shimmered like liquid starlight, their surface shifting between black and gold.
The back of the robe displayed an intricate image of a white serpent, its six crimson eyes glowing with eerie malevolence. The serpent bore three massive wings on each side, their edges razor-sharp and feathered with runes that seemed alive. The image pulsed faintly, mirroring the rhythm of the glowing pillars, as if the serpent were watching, waiting.
Within his mind, Manu’s consciousness reached out to the fractured soul of Chiron.
“Today’s the day,” Manu said with a sneer, his voice dripping with triumph. “Your existence is about to end, Chiron. I’ll finally erase the last remnants of you and take full possession of this body.”
Surprisingly, Chiron’s soul, bound in layers of blackened ever moving snakes and pinned within the ethereal prison of Manu’s mind, chuckled softly. “Congratulations, Manu. Truly, I admire your determination. It’s almost… entertaining.”
Manu frowned at the response, but he dismissed it as the ramblings of a defeated soul.
In the real world, Manu turned to Emma, the stunning succubus standing by his side. Her gown flowed like liquid crimson, its fabric seeming to drink in the light around her. Her eyes, glowing like twin rubies, watched him with a mixture of admiration and pride.
Manu leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. “After today, when I ascend to godhood, I’ll come back for you,” he said, his voice low but filled with fervor. “I’ll take you to the heavens. You’ll stand by my side, above all others.”
Emma smiled, though a flicker of doubt passed through her eyes. “I’ll be waiting… lord Manu.”
Manu did not notice that she had a different craving in her eyes.
As Manu stepped onto the central platform, his energy surging in preparation for the ritual, the skies suddenly shifted. The golden glow of the pillars dimmed momentarily as chariots—ornate, floating vessels crafted from polished silver and crystal—descended from above. They shimmered with divine energy, their wheels spinning without touching the ground.
The chariots carried figures draped in flowing garments of pristine white, adorned with blue and gold patterns that marked them as none other than the Family of Diligence.
Their leader, Eunid, stepped forward, his presence commanding and unyielding. His armor gleamed like sunlight on water, and his piercing black eyes locked onto Manu with a mix of disdain and calculated menace.
The gathered crowd gasped, and whispers of fear and confusion rippled through them.
Eunid’s voice cut through the murmurs like a blade. “Manu Madayaki,” he announced, his tone icy and authoritative, “you made us a promise. And I and My Diligence family did as you requested. No other family contributed more for your ritual like we did. We want what you promised us, where is Dona, the trash that stole Nora’s Talent.”
Manu turned slowly to face him, his grin widening into a predatory smirk. Eunid had elders of the hold rank protecting him.
It was easy to see why he was so brave. Also, he was really ignorant of what Manu could do.
“Ah, Eunid. I was wondering when you’d show up. You’re late. Don’t worry, I have what you want.”
And then he pointed in a certain direction. On a pillar, there, a flying core beast landed with chained Dona around its neck like a necklace.
This was a red core beast wind Eagle. It was a creature known for its speed.
Dona around its neck with no limbs screamed in pain.
Manu pointed to it, “if you can get it, you can have the trash.” He clicked his fingers and instantly, the core beast flapped its huge wings and took to the sky.
As it did, Eunid’s eyes shone in. Knowing light.

He had seen Dona’s chest and had seen the same symbol that was on Nora’s but white.
This was truly him.
He waved his hands at the elders around him, “get it!” He commanded and they rushed into the sky after the core beast.
Eunid gave one more menacing look at Manu, and turned to leave with his chariot.
However before he left, Manu’s voice reached him.
“Oh, you might want to hurry, cause the other families are already aware of that core beast and what it carries. Last i checked, they also want to hold the key to your precious Nora…”
