Chapter 633: The Chosen Day 6[A God’s Tear]
Then again, he was not mad at this. These had died a dog’s death. And he had even gained a treasure in the process.
Manu took a look at the God’s Tear on the ground. He walked up to it and then he took it. He smiled as he dumped it into his storage within the system.
He looked at the other treasures. Some armor, some blades, some even ancient scrolls.
Many of these at the level of power he was aiming for were not actually needed. But he took them any way.
After all, it was all part of his spoils of war.
‘Mortals!?’
No way! The energy mortals provided was only so so. If it was so easy to advance in power using just mortal souls and grinding them, then they would be no mortals making it to the gold rank.
Then again, many did not think this far. After all, manu was not like most of them. He came from beyond this world, and was punished here.
If he said that by taking human energy, it was possible to advance, then these cultivators that had worked hard their lives and were tired of not advancing would definitely believe it.
But the truth of the matter was that human energy was just not enough, not pure enough, not cultivated enough.
But on the other hand, the energies of high rank cultivators, gold rank and above was just what was needed.
It was like having farm produce that was too young to eat, and those that were ripe enough.
No matter how hard one tried or gathered, just mortals was not enough.
But high rank cultivators were an entirely different matter.
They fed him well. These were many gold rank cultivators and then Demi gods.
The energy that rushed to his body was so potent that he could hear his bottlenecks shatter as he advanced in cultivation, and as he did, the sky gathered with power.
The sky began to shift, darkening with an unnatural swiftness that sent shivers through the air. What had been a clear expanse moments ago was now a canvas of roiling storm clouds, black as the void. Bright sparks of light—some golden, some silver—danced within the gloom, like fireflies heralding doom.
The heavens churned, alive with rage, and a low rumble of thunder rolled across the horizon, its deep tremor shaking the ground.
Manu stood at the center of the glowing platform, his arms at his sides, his eyes fixed upward. His snake-like pupils narrowed as he studied the sky, his lips curling into a faint, defiant smile. He knew what this was.
“The heavens,” he muttered, his voice dripping with both amusement and disdain. “How predictable.”
On reaching the gold rank, facing Heavens tribulation was normal. However, mostly ad a result of fear and the incapability to handle what the heavens would give, many resisted the tribulation, forcing it to go away with their own power.
But of course, the higher one went, the less possible it was to push back a heaven’s tribulation, and after a while, totally impossible.
Besides, resisting it meant that it was always coming back with more rage than before.
The energy in the air grew denser, thick enough to make it hard to breathe. The storm above him roared, its fury palpable, as a column of golden lightning gathered at its heart.
The light was blinding, illuminating the battlefield with an ethereal glow. Every crackling thread of energy writhed with intent, charged with the wrath of the cosmos itself.
The clouds churned faster, condensing as if the sky itself prepared to strike him down. Manu braced himself, spreading his feet slightly, his muscles coiled and ready. Yet, he made no move to flee. Instead, he tilted his head back and spread his arms wide, an open invitation to the heavens.
“Come, then,” he said, his voice carrying through the storm’s deafening roar. “If this is the price for power, I’ll pay it willingly!”
The heavens answered.
A blinding bolt of lightning tore through the sky, jagged and violent, its descent faster than thought. It struck Manu squarely in the chest with an ear-splitting crack, a blast of light and sound so intense it seemed to split the air itself.
The force of the impact was colossal, shaking the platform and sending shockwaves rippling outward. The energy surged into Manu’s body, his figure wreathed in searing light. His flesh burned and his veins glowed molten gold, yet he did not fall.

Instead, Manu threw his head back and laughed—a deep, guttural sound that defied the agony coursing through him. His laughter was unhinged, echoing across the desolate battlefield as the storm raged above him. His arms remained outstretched, welcoming the punishment like an old friend.
The lightning twisted and coiled around him, as if reluctant to release its grip. His body convulsed under the onslaught, steam rising from his skin as the energy seared through him. Yet, through it all, his defiance did not waver.
“You think this will break me?” Manu roared, his voice cutting through the storm. “You think this will stop me?”
The energy began to settle, the light dissipating as the lightning’s fury faded. Manu stood in the aftermath, smoke rising from his charred skin. His body was battered, his once-glowing veins now dimmed, but he was alive. More than that, he was smiling—a feral, triumphant grin that showed his teeth.
“This…” he said, his voice hoarse but steady, “this is nothing. You’ll have to try harder than that.”
Above him, the storm rumbled again, as if the heavens were preparing their next strike. Manu straightened, rolling his shoulders and flexing his fingers. He welcomed the challenge, his smirk unwavering.
“Come,” he whispered, his voice a venomous taunt. “Let’s see how much you’re willing to give to stop me.”
Meanwhile, those that watched from afar had their eyes glued to him.
“He has faced the first challenge.” One muttered.
“Yes… but there is more to come…”
