Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 123
Chapter 123: Protecting me from Chapter 123: Protecting me from Layla closed the laptop after taking out the USB.
She opened the drawer and put everything inside.
“Lucius needs to see this after he returns,” she murmured and stood up from the chair.
But there was still time for Lucius to return.
So, she decided to ask Aiden later if he knew anything related to this case.
Layla stood under the shower to relax her mind.
As the water cascade down her body, she recalled everything that happened with her.
‘Why should I let myself suffer because of all this?
I’ve already felt enough guilty and sad for something I never did,’ she thought in her mind.
‘And it’s the time they should rectify the mistake.’ After a while, Layla made her way out of the shower.
She wore a bathrobe and used a towel on her hair to cover the wet hair.
Coming to the room, she rested on the sofa chair.
“Someone wants to jeopardize Lucius’s life.
But why would the person want to see me all that?
What could be the purpose of that?” she murmured.
Without hesitation, Layla grabbed her phone from the table and dialed Aiden’s number.
“Yes, Madam?” he answered promptly.
“I didn’t disturb you, did I?” she asked with a slight hesitation in her voice.
“Not at all, Madam.
I’m in the mansion at the moment,” Aiden replied.
“Oh, good.
I’ll meet you in the living room-I have something important to ask,” Layla said.
“Of course, Madam.” Ending the call, Layla quickly dressed in casual clothes before heading downstairs.
Aiden was already waiting for her in the living room.
She thanked him for his time.
“Why don’t we sit first?” Once they were both settled on the couch, Layla began, “Earlier, the maid gave me a strange envelope.
It had no sender’s name.” “Why are you only telling me this now, Madam?
I’ll have the staff check the CCTVs immediately,” Aiden responded, his tone serious.
“Listen to me first,” Layla replied, calming him.
“Inside were articles, photos, and a USB drive about an accident from years ago.

Lucius and his brother were both involved.
The articles depict Lucius as the one at fault, supposedly wanting to seize control of the company, while the photos show the severity of their injuries.” Aiden frowned as he listened.
“And what’s on the USB?” he asked.
Layla’s expression grew thoughtful.
“It’s a clip with Lucius’s voice.
He’s saying he wants control of the company because everyone sees him as worthless.
He mentions how his mother abandoned him and how his father thinks he’s not fit to lead.” But there was something odd-the entire clip showed only Lucius’s back.
It didn’t look like him from behind.
“Madam,” Aiden said thoughtfully, “what I know is that a lot of rumors and conspiracies started after Boss’s older brother died.
It was a chaotic time.
I only began working for him seven years ago, so I’m not too familiar with his past.
But what I know is that if Boss had done it, he would have admitted it.” “I know.
I just wish to know why suddenly someone send all this.
Is it that someone wants me to leave Lucius?” Layla murmured.
“I’ll check the CCTVs first.
Maybe we get the clue from there,” Aiden opined and rose to his feet.
“Don’t tell your boss about it now.
I don’t want him to feel pressured because of this,” Layla requested.
“Rest assured, Madam, I won’t do that,” Aiden affirmed and left.
~~~~~ Lucius knocked on the door of the modest house where the man-the only witness to the incident-lived.
After a minute’s wait, the door opened, and the man appeared.
Recognizing Lucius immediately, he stepped aside to let him in, followed closely by Roger.
Without a word, the man gestured for them to sit, an unspoken understanding already settling between them as Lucius began.
“Thank you for allowing us to see you, Mr.
Robinson.” “There was a scar running down the left side of his face, even across his cheek.
His fingers were tattooed, and he wore an earring in his left ear that night,” the man murmured, his voice trembling slightly as he recalled the horrifying incident.
His hands shook, the memories flooding back with a force that hadn’t dulled despite the years.
“That face,” he whispered, almost to himself.
“I still see it sometimes in my sleep… The way he looked, the coldness in his eyes.
Even now, I can’t shake the fear.” His gaze dropped to his hands, which were clenched tightly, knuckles white.
“Why did you not go to the police when they were searching for the witness?” Lucius asked.
“I was scared.
I thought he would come after me and my family,” Mr.
Robinson replied.
“I don’t know how I was tracked down.
I left Italy because I feared that one day he would chase me,” he added.
“I think your family doesn’t live here with you,” Lucius said.
“My both daughters are married while my wife passed away last year.” “I’m sorry for your loss.
May I know why did you choose to reveal the truth?” Lucius asked.
“I don’t have much time to live anyway.
That’s why I agreed,” Mr.
Robinson answered.
Lucius realized he must be suffering from some disease.
“I already prepared a sketch for the man you are looking for.” He took out a folded paper from his pocket and handed it to Lucius, who accepted it.
Opening it, he realized it was a side portrait, but it was enough for him to move ahead in this case.
“Thank you, Mr.
Robinson.
We won’t disturb you anymore,” Lucius said and left his seat.
Roger, too, prepared to leave.
“He said something while killing the young man,” Mr.
Robinson suddenly said, halting both Lucius and Roger.
“What was it?” Lucius asked.
The old man put a little pressure on his head before replying, “You shouldn’t have protected Lucius.” Lucius furrowed his brows together to hear that.
‘What was Matteo protecting me from?’ he thought while clutching the paper in his hand.
