Chapter 125: Doing what, Layla?
Chapter 125: Doing what, Layla?
After dinner, as Layla prepared their bed, Lucius entered the room holding a small, neatly wrapped bag.
“Layla,” he called softly, drawing her attention.
She turned, curious, and he handed her the bag with a warm smile.
“I didn’t forget to bring you something from Spain,” he said, his voice laced with gentle amusement.
“I only teased you earlier to see your reaction.” Layla chuckled, feeling her cheeks warm.
“You have a unique way of surprising me,” she murmured, pulling out a delicate silk shawl from the bag.
It was embroidered with intricate patterns that hinted at Spanish artistry, soft to the touch, and radiating a comforting warmth that went beyond the fabric.
“I love it,” she whispered, tracing her fingers over the threads.
“With autumn so close, I’ll enjoy wrapping myself in this every evening.” As she went to place the bag aside, her eyes caught a glimpse of another box inside.
Surprised, she turned to Lucius.
“You bought another gift?” Smiling at her reaction, Lucius nodded as she carefully opened the box to reveal a bracelet made of stunning Mallorcan pearls, gleaming softly in the light.
Without hesitation, she extended her hand.
“Put it on for me?” Lucius took her hand and slipped the bracelet onto her wrist with gentle precision.
“These pearls are a specialty of Spain,” he explained, fastening the clasp.
“I wanted to give you something you could keep with you forever.” When he finished, Layla, overwhelmed with affection, leaned in and placed a soft kiss on his lips, her gratitude and love speaking louder than words.
Lucius’s eyes sparkled with joy as he lightly touched his lips, savoring the lingering warmth of her kiss.
He watched as Layla moved toward the closet to put the bag away, but when she returned, he wasted no time, pulling her into his arms and capturing her lips once more.
Her soft moan vibrated against his mouth as she matched his rhythm, their passion growing in the quiet intimacy of the room.
When Layla became breathless, she tapped gently on his shoulder, signaling for a pause.
Lucius obliged but didn’t fully pull away, giving her a moment to catch her breath before he resumed with tender, unhurried kisses.
His hands cradled her neck, thumbs tenderly brushing her cheeks, and then slowly slid down to rest at her waist, holding her close.
“Don’t you want to sleep?” Layla whispered, a playful smile gracing her lips as her fingers lingered between them.
She kept her gaze fixed on his mouth, her eyes sparkling with shared mischief.
“I do… but I can’t resist having you just a little longer,” Lucius murmured, leaning down to place gentle, fluttering kisses along her neck, making her giggle as his lips brushed her skin.
“It tickles, Lucius!
Stop!” she laughed, her voice bright with joy.
But Lucius only smiled, savoring her laughter as he continued his soft kisses for a moment longer before finally pausing, his gaze filled with nothing but love.
“Well, if you aren’t tired, husband, we could… you know,” Layla whispered, her gaze steady, a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes.

Lucius raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence.
“Doing what, Layla?” he asked, his lips curving into an amused smile.
“You know what I mean,” she murmured, a slight blush coloring her cheeks.
“No, I don’t think I do,” he replied, still playing along.
Layla took a small step toward him, then abruptly turned and moved to the bed.
“Fine, we should sleep,” she said with a playful sigh, slipping under the blankets.
Lucius chuckled softly and slid in beside her.
As she lay on her side, facing away, he closed the space between them, wrapping an arm around her waist.
She felt his hand slipping beneath the hem of her loose top, his touch warm and unhurried.
His lips soon found the curve of her neck, trailing soft kisses that sent a shiver through her.
“You meant this, right?” he murmured, his deep voice rumbling against her skin as his fingers traced delicate patterns along her stomach.
Layla’s breath caught, her pulse quickening.
“How… aren’t you tired?” she managed, though her mind was already melting under his tender ministrations.
“You traveled all the way from Spain…” Lucius’s fingers paused briefly, and he pressed a lingering kiss to her neck.
“No amount of travel could keep me from holding you like this,” he whispered.
He gently turned her to face him, brushing a stray hair from her cheek as he gazed at her.
Layla smiled softly, letting her hand drift up to rest on Lucius’s chest, feeling the steady rhythm beneath her palm.
“Your heart… it’s beating so fast,” she murmured, the faintest hint of wonder in her voice.
Lucius’s hand covered hers, his fingers warm against her skin.
“You’re the reason,” he whispered, his eyes softening as they held her gaze.
A thoughtful look crossed Layla’s face, and she bit her lip.
“I suddenly find myself wondering about something,” she said, almost hesitantly.
Lucius tilted his head, his curiosity piqued.
“What is it?” Layla hesitated, then asked, “Do you know if Sylvia has left Italy?
Or… is she still here?” Lucius’s expression grew thoughtful as he considered her question.
“I’m not certain,” he replied slowly.
“But I think she’s still in Italy.
If she had left, she would’ve likely sent a message through someone to let me know.” His brow furrowed slightly, his gaze turning more focused as he tried to read her expression.
“But why do you ask?” Layla could see the concern flicker across his face, as though he were trying to piece something together.
“Did she… reach out to you, or did she try to meet you?” he asked, his voice quiet but with a slight edge of worry.
Before he could fully voice his concern, Layla shook her head, offering him a gentle smile.
“No, we didn’t meet,” she replied.
“I was just a bit curious… nothing more.” Her words seemed to reassure him, and his features relaxed, though his gaze remained watchful.
He drew her close again, pulling her into the warmth of his embrace, as though wanting to shield her from any lingering worries.
“Let’s just sleep,” Lucius said, closing his eyes.
