Chapter 135: Care to try again?
The next morning, as sunlight filtered through the curtains, Layla stirred awake, only to find Lucius lying beside her, sleeping peacefully.
A soft smile curved her lips as she leaned forward, brushing a tender kiss on his cheek.
But as her gaze shifted downward, she noticed she was wearing a delicate nightdress.
“Did he make me wear that?” she whispered to herself, her cheeks warming at the thought.
Her heart fluttered as she realized how considerate Lucius had been, his actions speaking volumes about the care he held for her.
Careful not to disturb him, Layla slipped out of bed and padded quietly to the bathroom.
It was the weekend, and she wanted him to rest a little longer.
After freshening up, she returned to the room, her damp hair clinging to her shoulders.
She paused in the doorway as her eyes met his-Lucius was awake, propped up against the headboard, his blue eyes heavy with fatigue.
“You’re up,” she said softly, stepping closer and lowering the towel she’d been using to dry her hair.
“What’s wrong?
You look exhausted.” Lucius’s gaze followed her every movement, his lips curving slightly as she perched on the edge of the bed.
Without a word, she reached out, her fingers brushing gently against his cheek, her touch warm and comforting.
For a moment, his eyes closed under her touch, as if drawing strength from her presence.
In the blink of an eye, Lucius reached out, pulling Layla down into his arms.
He embraced her tightly, resting his face against her chest, the steady rhythm of her heartbeat soothing him.
“You smell so divine,” he murmured, his voice low and velvety as his arms wrapped more securely around her, as if he couldn’t bear to let go.
Layla’s heart skipped a beat, and just as she began to respond, Lucius lifted his head.
His silver eyes sparkled with warmth as they locked onto hers, and with a soft smile, he leaned in to plant a feather-light kiss on the tip of her nose.
“So,” he began, his voice teasing, “what’s the plan for today?” Layla chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
“I was thinking… maybe I’ll just stay here with you.
We could watch a movie.
What do you think?” “Hm,” Lucius mused, his lips curving into a small, contented smile.
“That’s a good idea.
I’d like that.” She smiled, pleased with his approval.
“Great.
But now that you’re awake, you should freshen up,” she said, pulling back slightly, though his arms still lingered.
“I’ll go prepare breakfast for us in the meantime.” Lucius released her reluctantly, his gaze following her as she stood.

“Ask the maids to prepare breakfast,” Lucius said, his tone lazy but commanding.
“Come and shower with me instead.” Layla bit her lip to stifle a laugh.
“I already bathed,” she replied, a soft smile tugging at her lips.
Lucius frowned, a playful pout forming as he leaned back against the headboard.
“That’s so unfair, Wife.
You should’ve woken me up.” His gaze sharpened, glinting with mischief.
“You’ll have to make it up to me.” “Oh?
Like this?” Layla teased, leaning closer until her lips met his in a soft, lingering kiss.
As she pulled back, her playful smile faded into something gentler, her hand resting lightly on the back of his neck as her thumb brushed his skin.
Lucius’s eyes darkened slightly as he smirked, his arms wrapping around her waist.
“You’re getting there, but I’m not quite satisfied yet.” He pulled her closer, his lips mere inches from hers, which was enough to send sparks in her body.
“Care to try again?” “No,” Layla declared with mock firmness, her lips pursing in defiance, though the playful smile still lingered, lighting up her face.
Lucius arched a brow, his expression filled with amusement and challenge.
“If I can spoil you,” he countered, his tone low and coaxing, “then why can’t you do the same for me?” He tilted her chin gently, his fingers grazing her skin with a touch so soft it sent shivers down her spine.
His eyes dropped to her lips, lingering there as he added, “I can start it, but I’d rather have you take the lead.” Layla tilted her head, pretending to consider his words, a mischievous hum escaping her.
Then, without warning, she leaned in, brushing her lips against his in a soft, teasing kiss.
But she didn’t stop there.
This time, she nipped at his lower lip, catching it lightly between her teeth.
She held it there for a few tantalizing seconds, the slight pressure eliciting a sharp, low groan from Lucius.
“Layla,” he rasped, the sound a mix of pain and desire.
Before he could react further, she soothed the bite, sucking gently on his lip, her soft touch erasing the sting.
The groan faded into a growl, deep and guttural, as Lucius’s restraint shattered.
His hand instinctively moved to the back of her head, tangling in her damp hair as he pulled her closer, pressing his lips to hers with equal fervor.
The kiss deepened, their breaths mingling as the world around them seemed to fade.
Lucius’s lips moved against hers with an intensity that sent her heart racing, his dominance matched by her playful assertiveness.
When they finally broke apart, both were breathless, their foreheads resting together as they exchanged heated, lingering gazes.
“Now, that’s more like it,” Lucius murmured, his voice low and full of satisfaction.
“You’re learning well from me, Wife.” Layla’s cheeks flushed, but she met his gaze boldly, her smile returning.
“Only because you’re such a great teacher.” “Only for you,” Lucius said.
“Now, dear husband, you should freshen up.
Your wife is hungry and I suppose you are too.
We didn’t have dinner last night,” Layla affirmed.
“Well, I’m hungry for you,” Lucius murmured, taking her hand to his mouth before kissing her knuckles.
But she playfully hit his shoulder and finally stood up.
“Go and wash up!” With that, Layla left the room, leaving Lucius smiling.
“I just love her,” he mumbled, placing his hand on his chest.
