Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 153
Chapter 153: Meet Doctor Edward Chapter 153: Meet Doctor Edward The next morning, Layla dialed her father-in-law’s number, her heart pounding as she waited for him to answer.
After a few rings, his familiar voice came through, warm and steady.
“Good morning, Layla,” Alekis greeted her, a hint of curiosity in his tone.
“To what do I owe the pleasure of this early call from my daughter-in-law?” “Good morning, Father,” Layla replied, keeping her voice composed.
“I was hoping we could meet today.” Alekis chuckled softly.
“Layla, you’re always welcome at the house.
There’s no need for formalities or advance notice.” Layla hesitated for a moment before speaking again, her tone more serious.
“I appreciate that, Father, but this isn’t a casual visit.
There’s something important I need to discuss with you-privately.” Alekis paused, sensing the weight behind her words.
“I see,” he said, his tone shifting to one of quiet concern.
“Very well.
Let’s arrange a time and place.
Is everything all right?” “We’ll talk when we meet,” Layla responded gently.
“Thank you, Father.” “I’ll send you the name of the restaurant where we can meet,” Alekis said firmly.
“Sure, Father,” Layla replied before ending the call.
She put her phone down and quietly stepped back into the bedroom, closing the balcony door behind her.
Lucius remained in a deep sleep, his face peaceful yet shadowed by the weight of his burdens.
Not wanting to disturb him, Layla decided to let him rest a while longer.
Before leaving for the office, she scribbled a quick note and placed it on top of Lucius’s phone.
Leaning down, she pressed a soft kiss to his forehead and gently caressed his cheek.
Her voice was a quiet promise.
“I’ll find a way to free you from this pain.
I won’t let you face it alone.
I promise.” With a final glance, she exited the room.
In the hallway, Layla instructed the maids, “Make sure not to disturb Mr.
Lucius.
Let him sleep as long as he needs.” The maids nodded, and Layla headed out.
As she stepped into the backseat of the car, her assistant, Aiden, promptly shut the door behind her and then took his place in the passenger seat beside the driver.
“Boss didn’t wake up?” Aiden asked, a worried expression crossing his face as he glanced back.
“He slept late, so I let him rest,” Layla replied calmly.

Then, her tone shifted, more serious now.
“Aiden, do you have any idea what’s weighing on him?
He hasn’t shared much with me, but it’s clear he’s under a lot of stress.
Also, I’d like to know if you’re aware of the therapist he used to see in the past.” Aiden’s eyes widened in surprise, her words catching him off guard.
He hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much he should say.
Layla leaned forward slightly and she implored, “I’m your Boss’s wife, who wants to help him heal, to free him from this trauma that keeps resurfacing.
So, please, Aiden, for his sake, be honest with me.” Aiden swallowed hard, sensing her determination.
“I understand, Mrs.
Layla,” he finally said.
“I’ll tell you everything I know.” “Yes, please,” Layla said as she prepared to listen.
Aiden took a deep breath before explaining.
“Madam, the root of Boss’s trauma stems from an accident that happened years ago.
It was a devastating event, and later, the loss of his close friend made it worse.
Boss blames himself for both tragedies, even though they were beyond his control.
Doctor Edward, one of the top therapists in the city, worked with him for a while and tried to help him see it wasn’t his fault.
But for some reason, Boss stopped going to therapy and has refused to return.” Layla absorbed the information, her resolve strengthening.
“Then we’ll meet Doctor Edward today.
Aiden, give the driver the directions to his clinic.” Aiden hesitated.
“But Madam, what about your meeting with Roderick?” “Have his secretary inform him that the meeting will be rescheduled for this afternoon, or even later in the evening if needed,” Layla replied firmly.
“This is more important.” “Yes, Madam,” Aiden said, pulling out his phone to relay the instructions, while the car changed course toward Doctor Edward’s clinic.
Layla checked her phone as it buzzed and saw the message from Alekis.
She smiled faintly and clutched her hand around her phone.
She was determined to heal Lucius no matter what it cost.
~~~~~ Finally, they arrived at the clinic, where Layla quickly arranged for an appointment.
After a brief wait in the serene lobby, her name was called.
She followed the assistant into Doctor Edward’s office.
“Please, have a seat,” Edward said, gesturing toward the chair across from his desk.
His tone was welcoming but laced with curiosity.
Layla settled into the chair, her expression calm yet determined.
“Thank you, Doctor Edward.
I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice.” Edward nodded.
“Of course.
I understand this is about your husband, Lucius De Salvo.
So, how can I help?” Layla clasped her hands together before coming to with the response.
“Why did Lucius stop the treatment suddenly?” “I am surprised your husband didn’t tell you,” Edward said, smiling.
“He said it didn’t help him,” Layla replied.
“I don’t share a patient’s personal details related to the treatment with anyone, Mrs.
De Salvo,” Edward affirmed.
“I understand you.
However, this is about my husband.
I want to help him, Doctor.
I am his wife, so I think I deserve to know,” Layla said with a humble tone.
Edward sighed deeply and leaned back in his chair.
“Mr.
De Salvo doesn’t wish to forget the two biggest incidents of his life.
Also, the negligence of his parents in his early life, especially his mother, made things worse for him.
The main reason he gave me to leave this therapy was that he wanted to keep blaming himself until his last breath.
Lucius refused to cooperate after that,” he explained briefly.
Layla’s heart sank to learn that as she furrowed her brows together.
Something must have triggered him to leave this therapy.
“What was the last day Lucius seen you?” she humbly queried.
“It was the day of his friend’s demise, June 25th,” Edward answered.
“I see.
Thank you, Doctor Edward,” Layla expressed her gratitude for sharing such important information with her.
“Anytime.
I hope my one of most difficult patient to handle gets healed soon.
I’ll appreciate if you bring him here for the treatment,” Edward asserted with a small smile.
“I’ll try my best,” Layla replied with a determined gaze.
