Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 154
Chapter 154: Impossible to handle Chapter 154: Impossible to handle Lucius woke late, the clock nearing 11 a.m., and leaned back against the headboard.
His gaze drifted to his phone, where a small sticky note rested on top.
Peeling it off, he read the simple yet heartfelt message: I love you.
A bright smile lit up his face, and his heart fluttered.
“I love you too, Layla,” he murmured softly to himself.
Setting the note aside, he swung his legs over the edge of the bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
His schedule had been a mess lately, and he resolved to get things back on track.
At this rate, nothing would align as it should.
After a refreshing shower, Lucius wrapped himself in a bathrobe and stood before the mirror.
As he brushed his teeth, fragments of the previous night replayed in his mind.
He had allowed himself to be vulnerable in front of Layla, something he rarely did.
Once he finished rinsing his mouth, he returned to the bedroom and lay back down, feeling a mix of relief and lingering tension.
Picking up his phone, he scrolled through briefly before dialing Roger.
“Good morning, Boss,” Roger greeted promptly.
“I’ve taken care of everything at the office.
Rest assured, there’s not much on your plate today.” “Thanks, Roger,” Lucius replied, his voice still carrying the warmth of his earlier smile.
“Don’t come to the office today, Boss.
Take the time to rest,” Roger insisted firmly.
Lucius chuckled.
“What did Layla tell you that you’re speaking to me like this?” “Just looking out for you, Boss,” Roger replied, his tone light yet sincere.
“Madam only ordered me to ensure you take care of yourself,” Roger asserted firmly.
“I’ll be at the office in a while,” Lucius replied, his tone nonchalant.
“I’ll have no choice but to report this to Madam Layla.
She’ll scold you for not listening,” Roger countered, his voice playful but laced with warning.
Lucius burst into laughter.
“HA!
I’d like to see that!” His laughter echoed through the room, and even Roger couldn’t help but smile on the other end of the line.
Once the laughter subsided, Lucius sighed.
“Fine, fine.
I won’t come in today.

But if anything urgent comes up, call me immediately.” “Understood, Boss,” Roger said, satisfied.
Ending the call, Lucius leaned back against the pillows, his eyes landing on Demitri’s name in his contacts.
Before he could dial, his phone buzzed.
It was Demitri.
“Lucius, meet me at Rose Café,” Demitri said without preamble.
“Okay,” Lucius agreed, ending the call as quickly as it began.
Tossing his phone onto the bed, he stood and moved toward the wardrobe, pulling out clothes to dress for the meeting.
~~~~~ Demitri and Lucius exchanged a firm handshake before settling into their seats.
As always, Demitri was casually dressed in a hoodie, loose trousers, and slippers-his usual disregard for appearances.
He was the type who rarely concerned himself with outward impressions, focusing instead on what truly mattered.
“Congrats on getting married,” Demitri said, a small smirk playing on his lips.
“Thank you,” Lucius replied with a nod as the waiter arrived, placing two glasses of cold coffee in front of them.
“Please enjoy,” the waiter said before stepping away.
Demitri took a sip, his eyes narrowing slightly as he observed Lucius.
“So, how’s life after marriage?
Did you finally stop chasing those unexplained answers?” Lucius remained silent, his gaze dropping to his coffee.
That was all the confirmation Demitri needed.
“What do you want me to find out?” Demitri asked, leaning forward slightly, his voice low but direct.
Lucius looked up, his expression serious, and pulled out a phone from his pocket-the one he had discreetly taken from Layla’s father, Darius, earlier.
He had provided Darius with another phone, equipped with a new SIM card, for temporary use.
“I need you to investigate this message,” Lucius said, sliding the phone across the table to Demitri.
Demitri picked it up and examined the screen.
His brows furrowed as he read the message.
“Someone’s targeting your wife,” he said, his voice low and grim.
Lucius nodded.
“That’s what it looks like.
This message was sent to her father.
I didn’t want to alarm Layla just yet, but we can’t ignore this.” Demitri’s mind was already at work.
“I’ll dig into this and get back to you as soon as I find something,” he assured, placing the phone on the table.
Lucius gave a slight nod, his gaze distant as he stared past the coffee cups, lost in thought.
Demitri studied him for a moment.
“What’s bothering you?” Demitri asked, his tone light but laced with curiosity.
“You’ve always been mysterious, ever since high school.
Was Matteo the only one you considered a real friend?” Lucius smirked faintly.
“And a close friend,” he corrected.
“Yeah, yeah,” Demitri said, waving a hand.
“But don’t forget, I was part of the same group.
Sure, I didn’t talk much, but I always looked up to you, Lucius.” Lucius tilted his head slightly, studying Demitri.
“Why aren’t you married yet?
I thought you’d be settled down with your girlfriend by now.” Demitri sighed, leaning back in his chair.
“We broke up last year.
She couldn’t stand my work, always nagging me about it.
Not many people can handle what I do,” he muttered.
Then, with a smirk, he added, “If you know someone, feel free to introduce me.” Lucius chuckled.
“What about Matteo’s sister?” Demitri nearly choked on his coffee.
“Hell, no!” he exclaimed while Lucius laughed.
“That crazy woman is head over heels for you.
And trust me, she’s impossible to handle.
I wouldn’t last a second with her.” Lucius shook his head, laughing softly as Demitri leaned forward to finish his coffee.
“You should drink too,” Demitri suggested, motioning toward Lucius’s glass.
Lucius hummed in agreement and took a sip.
“Wait,” Demitri said suddenly, narrowing his eyes.
“Did she contact you after hearing about your marriage?” Lucius’s expression darkened slightly.
“She’s in Italy.
I told her to stay away from me.
I can’t allow her to linger around anymore.
I’ve let things slide in the past because of Matteo, but not anymore.” Demitri nodded in understanding.
“Good.
You’ve got enough on your plate without her complicating things.” “Hmm.
Come home someday for dinner,” Lucius stated.
“I will,” Demitri said with a smile.
