Chapter 16: Slap Orabela
Lucius had his elbow rested on the armrest of the chair while his right leg rested on his left thigh.
“Lucius, it’s late at night. I wonder what happened which forced you to come here at this hour. I hope Layla isn’t giving you any kind of trouble,” said Darius in his humble tone.
Lucius’s piercing eyes remained fixed on the two women before him as he ignored the question. “Who is Seraphina among you?” His voice was low, cutting through the silence with a quiet authority.
Darius and Miriam exchanged worried glances before their eyes shifted to the woman standing nervously at their left.
“I am,” Seraphina answered, her voice barely above a whisper. Her hands were clasped tightly together, and she fidgeted nervously under Lucius’s unrelenting gaze.
Darius’s brow furrowed as he turned to her, his tone dropping to a worried hush, “What did you do?”
Before Seraphina could answer, Lucius’s voice sliced through the air again, commanding the room. “Stay quiet, both of you!” His tone left no room for argument, and both Darius and Miriam lowered their heads in submission, pursing their lips to keep silent.
Lucius’s voice cut through the tense air, calm but deadly. “Orabela, come forward and give me your phone,” he demanded, his eyes narrowing with cold calculation.
“What?” Orabela snapped, her voice rising in defiance. “You can’t just demand someone’s phone!” Her tone was sharp, but fear flickered in her eyes.
Lucius didn’t even flinch. “Roger,” he called, his right-hand man stepping forward with a silent nod. Without a word, Roger extended his hand toward Orabela, gesturing for the phone. When she refused, his patience ran out. He seized it from her with swift force.
“How dare you—ahhh!” Orabela’s words were cut short as a gunshot rang out. The bullet hit a vase behind her, shattering it into pieces. Her scream echoed in the room, along with panicked gasps from the others.
Lucius tilted his head slightly, a cold smirk playing on his lips. “Oops! I missed this time… intentionally,” he remarked casually.
“Lucius! What are you doing?” Miriam’s voice trembled as she nearly shouted.
Lucius’s expression darkened as he turned his gaze toward her. “I don’t like loud voices,” he said with menace. He glanced around the room, his gaze sweeping over each of them. “You all made my wife cry in just one day. It hasn’t even been a day since she is married to me. You think you can take me lightly?”
He raised an eyebrow, his fingers tracing the rim of the gun in his hand.
Roger came to Lucius and handed him Orabela’s phone.
“Seraphina, slap Orabela and if you don’t the next bullet will hit right the center of Orabela’s forehead,” Lucius pronounced.
“W-what? I-I can’t,” Seraphina refused.
Lucius chuckled and he walked to her. In a flash, he grabbed her throat, his thumb and fingers tightly on her neck. “Cut her hand from which she slapped Layla, Roger. She entered my territory and slapped my woman!” He pronounced.
Darius pleaded with Lucius while joining his both hands together. “Lucius, please don’t do this.”
“Shut the fuck up, you bastard!” Lucius glared at Darius, whose arm Miriam caught and requested him to stay quiet.
Lucius shoved away Seraphina and she landed on the floor while catching her breath. She quickly crawled back in fear, tears appeared on the edges of her eyes.
“Slap her or lose your hand and Orabela!” Lucius said.
Seraphina looked up at Orabela, who was shaking her head.
“Instead of teaching my wife some lessons, why don’t you teach Orabela some lessons? How dared you all mess up with me?” Lucius’ growls made them terrified.
When Seraphina didn’t do what Lucius asked her for, he walked to her and grabbed a fistful of Seraphina’s hair before pulling her up. “You have hearing impairment, I think.”
Seraphina screamed as Lucius’ grip was too tight on her hair, she could feel her scalp burning from pain.
Darius realized if they would not do what Lucius desired, the situation could worsen. “Lucius, why don’t you tell us what they both did? I will discipline them properly,” he asserted while keeping his tone humble.
“Your mistress came to my mansion and slapped my wife in my absence. The reason is your dear daughter, Orabela, who prevented her molester boyfriend!” Lucius revealed.

“Molester? Roderick?” Darius muttered in confusion.
Lucius let go of Seraphina’s hair, who finally breathed. But she knew this wouldn’t end like this.
“Darius, your mistress thought I would let it go like this. Come forward and slap your liar daughter!” Lucius ordered him this time while glaring at him.
Darius knew there was no way out to get out of this situation while the gun in Lucius’ hands was more terrific for him. He stepped up and did what he was told. But it was a light slap.
“I didn’t ask you to pat her. Slap her. Hard. I don’t raise my hands on women, but I won’t hesitate to thrash you,” Lucius threatened him.
Orabela shook her head and told Lucius not to do that. “I will apologize—”
“Shut your mouth or I’ll rip it off!”
Darius slapped Orabela hard this time, whose tears immediately spilled out of her eyes.
“Now, it’s your turn to give a tight slap to your mistress too,” Lucius told him. “She is the one who provoked me to come here. If you don’t want to slap her, why don’t you throw her out of this house?” He provided Darius with two choices.
Miriam found a way to get rid of Seraphina and asked her husband to throw out Seraphina.
“No, no! Please don’t do that. Don’t throw me out,” Seraphina pleaded with her husband. Darius raised a hand on her, but he slapped himself before getting on his knees.
“Lucius, please let this go for the last time. I promise you no such thing will ever happen in the future,” Darius joined his both hands as he begged for Lucius’ mercy.
“Looks like your husband loves his mistress more,” Lucius chuckled as he glanced at Miriam, who was fuming in anger. “Do the honor to slap Orabela and Seraphina. If you do it, Madam Miriam, I’ll leave,” he offered, ignoring completely what Darius’ request was.
Miriam didn’t stop herself and slapped Seraphina hard not once but twice. “You’ve ruined my family,” she muttered, and then gazed at Orabela. For a moment, Miriam hesitated, but she had to finish it, so she slapped Orabela too.
Lucius looked at Orabela, who began weeping. “Don’t even think of harming my wife. I’m going to ruin all of your lives if you do that.” With a final glance at them, Lucius left that place.
