Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 168
Chapter 168: Roger, stay quiet Chapter 168: Roger, stay quiet As Layla packed her bag, Lucius picked up the phone and dialed Demitri’s number.
It wasn’t long before Demitri answered the call.
“I want to go to Umbria,” Lucius informed him.
Demitri paused, surprised by the question.
“Hmm.
But why would you tell me that?” he replied, setting his coffee mug down on the desk as he tried to make sense of the call.
“I want to show Layla some vineyards, and I mentioned I had a friend from Umbria.
I’d like you to come meet us-leave the work behind for a day,” Lucius urged.
He never bothered Demitri like this before but now, he made a promise with Layla he wanted to fulfill it.
Demitri thought for a moment, weighing the suggestion.
He smiled, already picturing the visit.
“Grandma will be happy to see me after so long.
I’ll be there,” he answered, his decision made quickly.
Lucius chuckled softly.
“Thank you.
We’ll meet at your grandmother’s house, then,” he said.
Without waiting for a response, he hung up and went to the bedroom, closing the balcony’s door.
“I’m done with the packing!” Layla exclaimed, her excitement evident as she lifted the bag.
Lucius smiled and moved toward her, gently taking the bag from her hands.
“Then, should we leave?” he asked, his tone light and eager.
“Yep, but wait a second!” she replied, a playful sparkle in her eyes.
“I need to grab my shades and purse.” She hurried to the dresser, collecting the items from the table.
As she turned back toward him, she slipped a delicate white lace hat onto her head, completing her look.
“Now we can go,” she said, linking her arm with his, her smile radiant as they walked toward the door together.
As they reached the foyer, Layla waved at Roger and Aiden with a bright smile.
“Wow!
You look wonderful, Madam,” Roger complimented her, his voice warm.
Layla chuckled lightly, her tone playful.
“Call me Layla from now on.
I feel like an old woman when you both call me Madam.” Roger and Aiden exchanged a glance, waiting for Lucius’ response.

He gave a subtle nod, silently giving them permission to address her by her first name.
“Sarah, we may be back tomorrow.
If anyone stops by, just let them know we’re out of station,” Lucius instructed the house maid before turning to Layla.
“Get in,” Lucius said as he opened the door to the passenger seat for Layla.
She slid in gracefully, and he gently closed the door behind her.
Turning to Roger and Aiden, he added, “You two should sit in the back.” “Boss, we thought you wouldn’t let us accompany you,” Roger commented, a hint of surprise in his voice.
“Demitri will throw a tantrum if he doesn’t see you two,” Lucius replied, his tone firm but not unkind.
“Besides, I want you both with us for safety’s sake.
Now, hurry up.” He climbed into the driver’s seat and started the engine, waiting for them to follow his instructions.
“Boss, we’re going on such a relaxing trip after a long time,” Roger said, a hint of excitement in his voice.
“How long?” Layla asked eagerly, her curiosity piqued.
“After four years,” Roger replied, a nostalgic smile on his face.
“What?” Layla exclaimed, shocked by the length of time.
“Why did you three never take a break?” she asked, genuinely curious to know the reasons behind their work-driven lives.
“Boss should answer this,” Aiden chimed in, looking toward Lucius.
Lucius sighed with a light shake of his head.
“I didn’t feel like going on trips,” he said truthfully.
“But I never stopped them from taking breaks.
They both would refuse even if I asked them to take a few days off.” “I see,” Layla murmured, wondering if it had something to do with Lucius needing time to recover after Matteo’s death.
She couldn’t think of any other reason that would make sense.
The silence hung for a moment before Roger, sensing the tension, broke it with an unexpected statement.
“I was shocked the first time Boss said that he liked you.” “What?” Layla turned her head sharply to look at Roger, her eyes wide with surprise.
“Roger, stay quiet,” Lucius growled, his teeth gritted.
He regretted letting Roger join them on the trip, knowing his tendency to blurt out things that shouldn’t be said.
Layla, however, was unfazed, her curiosity piqued even more.
“Tell me, Roger.
I want to know everything,” she said with a wide, mischievous smile, clearly enjoying the sudden shift in the conversation.
~~~~~ Miriam glanced at her husband, who had secluded himself in the study, deep in thought.
“What have you been thinking about all morning?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
Darius looked up from his desk, his expression grim.
“How to reveal the truth,” he replied quietly.
Miriam shook her head, her frustration evident.
“Indeed, people are going to laugh at us for being such fools.” Darius sighed, rubbing his temples.
“I was fooled by the woman…” He trailed off, the weight of his own words pressing down on him.
Miriam, sensing his turmoil, stepped closer, her presence a reminder of the reality they now faced.
He stood up slowly, resolute.
“I’m thinking of releasing a statement regarding Layla’s legitimacy.
I’ll declare her the real heiress of our family.” He paused, his gaze darkening.
“Orabela is dear to me, but I can’t give her anything right now because of what she did at the company.” Miriam placed her hand gently on Darius’s shoulder, her voice soft but firm.
“We all made mistakes.
I didn’t teach Orabela right.
I allowed her to torment my own daughter.
Layla hasn’t forgiven us, and I know she won’t for a long time.
But we need to take one step every day to make things right.” Darius nodded slowly, the weight of Miriam’s words settling heavily on him.
“Yes,” he said quietly.
“You should not distance Orabela from yourself.
You raised her as your own.
You aren’t like Seraphina.
She has disappointed me in every way.” His gaze dropped to the floor, the shame evident in his eyes as he grappled with the reality of his own failures.
“For the sake of this family and Layla I’ll let it go,” Miriam said, “I wish you had loved me more than your mistress.” With that, she left his sight.
Darius frowned to hear that when his phone buzzed.
He checked it and furrowed his brows together to see the message.
