Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 183
Chapter 183: Survive this blow Chapter 183: Survive this blow “What’s in the bag?” Layla asked, her curiosity piqued as her eyes lingered on the worn leather satchel Roger had placed beside him.
Lucius didn’t hesitate to explain.
“The gifts I used to give her when she was younger,” he said.
Layla arched an eyebrow.
“How can you be so sure without even checking?
What if there’s something else in there?” she challenged, her skepticism mirrored in Roger’s approving nod.
Lucius leaned back on the couch.
“I know her,” he began, “She’s done this before-years ago.
She returned every gift I’d ever given her after I shouted at her once.
It’s her way of drawing a line.” “She is clearly a spoiled brat!” Roger remarked.
“I’ll put the bag in the storeroom,” he said firmly, dismissing the matter.
“There’s no need to dwell on it.” With that, he stood, gripping the bag tightly before leaving the room.
Roger watched him leave, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
“It seems the Boss has finally made peace with the idea of letting go and is no longer feeling indebted to Sylvia,” he remarked.
“Hmm.
Lucius did tell me that he ended up yelling at Sylvia.
Was it bad?
I didn’t ask Lucius since I felt it could bother him,” Layla said while knitting her brows together.
“Boss took out his entire frustration at Sylvia, telling her how much she makes him feel low by bringing his past for no reason.
To be honest, Sylvia is aware of Boss’s state in the past, still she refuses to see that.
She thinks of herself and for her own happiness, she doesn’t care speaking harshly to the others.
Boss has been quiet for Matteo, but his patience ended when Sylvia sent you the envelope by hiring someone just to make you hate him.” As Roger unfolded the truth to Layla, she realized why Lucius looked so troubled last night.
Why he asked her only to love him with all her heart.
“Madam, what was your reaction when you first found out that Boss would be your husband?” Aiden asked.
“I had prejudices like everyone else.
But I was not aware of many things from his past.
I only knew he was into the work of mafias.
Honestly, I never cared because I accepted it as my fate,” Layla explained to them.
Aiden nodded, then added cautiously, “There’s a theory that someone orchestrated that accident, though the De Salvo family dismisses it as a mere rumor.
Even Boss refuses to entertain the idea, especially since nothing similar has happened since then.” “Still,” Roger interjected with a thoughtful voice, “there are far too many mysteries surrounding that accident.” Their conversation came to an abrupt halt as Roger glanced at Lucius, who was back.

“Oh, Boss is here,” he said, straightening up on his seat.
“Your father called me a moment ago,” Lucius informed Layla.
“You should give him a call back.” “Oh, my phone’s in the bedroom,” Layla said, excusing herself with a small nod as she left the room.
Lucius turned to Roger.
“Did you find anything about Ruby?” he asked.
“I already reported everything to you, Boss,” he replied firmly.
“I withdrew the spy after that.” “Then answer me this,” Lucius said coldly.
“Why is she with David, and why did she lie to Layla all the time?
These are the two questions I need answers to.
I expect your report by this evening.” Roger gave a curt nod.
“Ok-okay, Boss.” “Aiden, don’t let Layla go alone anywhere.
Even if she insists, go after her,” Lucius ordered him.
“Alright, Sir.” “You two may leave now.
I’ll be the one dropping Layla to the office,” Lucius said.
Both Aiden and Roger left the mansion while Lucius slumped on the couch, falling in a state of contemplation.
~~~~ “Someone’s here to see you,” the lady jail warden informed Seraphina.
Seraphina tilted her head slightly, her brow furrowing in confusion.
“Who?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” the warden replied with a shrug.
“But it’s not your daughter.
Follow me.” Without waiting for a response, she moved to cuff Seraphina’s hands.
Seraphina didn’t protest, nodding silently as she rose from the floor and followed the warden down the dimly lit corridor.
However, instead of turning into the usual general meeting room, the warden stopped in front of the office door, opening it.
Seraphina’s got confused as her gaze fell upon the figure seated inside.
It wasn’t someone she recognized-an unknown man sat there.
“Sir, I’ll be outside,” the warden said and locked the door from outside, leaving the two of them alone.
“Who are you?” Seraphina asked.
“Take a seat, please,” the man said, gesturing to the sofa chair.
Seraphina walked to him and sat across from him.
“Is your daughter Layla Rosenzweig?” the man asked.
“Why?” Seraphina questioned and wondered if the truth was not announced to public yet.
“Just answer what I’m asking,” the man stated.
“Shouldn’t you first tell me who are you?” Seraphina asked.
“I am someone who can free you from here,” the man stated.
Seraphina furrowed her brows together, pondering how one could do that.
“What do you mean?
Is it really possible?” she questioned.
“For me, it is,” the man said.
“What if I not Layla’s mother?” Seraphina asked.
“Then, you are the perfect person to get my work done,” the man stated with a smirk.
He clasped his gloved hands and leaned back on the sofa chair.
“Work?” Seraphina arched her eyebrows in bewilderment.
“You tried to kill Layla.
I want you to do that work now.
I will ensure you will live freely if you do that.
Give your answer to me through the warden,” the man concluded, standing up as though the conversation was over.
Before he could leave, Seraphina rose from her seat, her desperation evident.
“I’m ready.
Just free me from this place,” she begged, her voice trembling slightly.
The man paused, a satisfied smile curling his lips.
“Very well,” he said before walking out of the office.
Outside the prison, the man reached into his pocket, pulling out a cigarette.
His assistant stepped forward, lighting it.
The man took a long drag, exhaling a puff of smoke into the air.
“Lucius,” he muttered under his breath, his eyes glinting with malice.
“Let’s see how you survive this blow.” With that, he stepped into the backseat of the waiting Porsche.
