Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 198
Chapter 198: Remain in uncertainty Chapter 198: Remain in uncertainty “Welcome home!” Alekis greeted warmly, his vibrant smile lighting up the frosty evening as he stood just outside the grand mansion, eagerly awaiting Lucius and Layla’s arrival.
Behind him, Fiona and Roderick stood silently.
“Father, it’s freezing out here.
You shouldn’t be standing in the cold,” Lucius said with gentle concern, his brows knitting as he stepped forward.
“Nonsense, I’m perfectly fine,” Alekis replied with a reassuring smile.
He moved closer and placed a affectionate hand on Lucius’s back, guiding him toward the entrance.
Together, the group made their way inside.
When they reached the spacious bedroom that once belonged to Lucius, Alekis took a moment to glance around before speaking.
“I’ll have the maid send up dinner for the both of you shortly,” he said, his tone brimming with fatherly care.
His gaze softened as it settled on his son.
“Get some rest, Lucius.
And don’t you dare let your wife take on any stress,” he added, his words carrying a hint of playful authority.
Lucius chuckled lightly, the corners of his lips curving into a warm smile as he nodded.
“I’ll take care, Father,” he replied.
“Then we’ll leave you two to settle in.
If you need anything at all, just let the maid know, and it will be taken care of,” Alekis said with a warm smile.
“Sure, Dad,” Lucius replied with a nod.
Alekis turned and made his way out of the room, Roderick following closely behind his grandfather.
Fiona lingered for a moment longer, her gaze shifting to Layla.
“If you need any help, don’t hesitate to tell me,” she offered softly, her humility reflected in her tone.
Layla responded with a light hum, a polite acknowledgment, as Fiona gave her a final smile and stepped out, leaving the room.
With a click, Layla locked the door behind her.
Before she could fully turn around, she froze at the Lucius’s presence behind her.
His strong arm draped over her left shoulder, and his chin rested lightly on her right shoulder, the warmth of his breath tickling her neck.
“You’re supposed to be resting,” Layla said softly.
Lucius chuckled, his nose nuzzling the curve of her neck.
“How much more do you want me to sleep?” he teased with a low murmur against her skin.
Taking a step back, he gave her some space, though his eyes never left hers.
“Help me wash my hair.
I can’t use my left hand properly,” he added, raising his right injured arm slightly as if to emphasize his point.

Layla turned to face him fully, meeting his gaze.
“Thank you for agreeing to come here.
Your father is overjoyed to have you back,” she said.
Lucius gave a small nod.
“I know.
He’s wanted this for years,” he replied.
After a moment, he reached for her hand, holding it.
“I’ve made things difficult for you, Layla.
I won’t let it happen again.
That’s a promise.” “I trust you,” Layla said softly as she reached for his long coat.
Carefully, she slid it off his shoulders, letting it rest on her arm.
“Wait for me in the washroom.
I’ll be there in a moment,” she instructed.
Without waiting for his reply, she headed toward the closet.
Once inside, she removed her own heavy outer layers.
Rolling up her sleeves, she stepped into a pair of slippers after slipping off her heels.
She finally entered the washroom and closed the door from inside.
Lucius was seated on the floor, his broad frame leaning heavily against the base of the bathtub.
He had already removed his shirt, revealing the toned expanse of his chest and shoulders.
His right arm, tightly wrapped in a bandage, though a small stain of blood had seeped through, marking the fabric.
“It feels my room was cleaned regularly,” Lucius told her.
“Dad must be thinking everyday that I would return here someday,” he added.
Layla knelt beside him, her fingers gently threading through his hair as she guided him closer to the faucet.
She let the water flow over his scalp.
“Father cried when he saw you lying on that hospital bed,” she said.
Her gaze met his, searching for a reaction.
“I’m sure you’re aware of it.” Lucius exhaled deeply, his head leaning slightly into her touch.
“Fiona told me,” he admitted, his tone quiet with regret.
“I gave him a big headache this time.” “That’s why you need to rethink if you are doing right,” Layla said cautiously.
She hadn’t planned to broach the topic, but the thought had been weighing on her.
“I know this attack wasn’t meant for you-it was for me.
But what if someday, they target you instead?” Her voice softened, the question lingering between them as she reached for the shampoo bottle.
Pouring a portion into her palm, she rubbed her hands together before gently massaging it into his damp hair.
Her fingers worked carefully through his tresses.
Lucius closed his eyes, his mind turning over her question.
The water cascaded over his scalp once more, rinsing away the traces of foam from his hair.
Layla’s hands worked gently as she ensured his hair was clean.
After finishing, she grabbed a towel and helped him dry his hair.
Now back in the bedroom, Layla stood before him removing the towel from his hair.
She used her fingers to ruffle his dark locks, giving them their usual carefree look.
“I’ll bring you a shirt,” she said, turning around.
Before she could take a step, Lucius caught her wrist and pulled her down onto his lap.
Startled, Layla met his intense gaze as his left arm secured itself around her waist, holding her in place.
“Stay,” he said firmly.
“I need to answer you.” Her breath hitched slightly under his piercing gaze as he began, “I don’t think I can stop pursuing what I’ve been working toward for so many years.
I know I can’t explain everything to you right now, but I need you to trust me.” His hand tightened slightly on her waist as his expression softened.
“If I don’t see this through to the end, I feel like my entire future will remain in uncertainty.
I need to bring closure-not just for myself, but for us too.
Our family will grow in the future, I don’t want our kids to live in fear.” “I understand,” she replied.
