Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 199
Chapter 199: More than ten years Chapter 199: More than ten years After dinner, Layla carefully ensured that Lucius was settled for the night, tucking him in with gentle care.
But in the midnight, Lucius woke abruptly, his mind too restless to stay asleep.
He sat up in bed, the dim moonlight filtering through the curtains casting soft shadows across the room.
Reaching for his phone on the bedside table, he let out a sigh before slipping out from under the duvet.
His bare feet touched the cool floor as he made his way to the balcony, drawn by an unspoken yearning.
Stepping outside, he was greeted by the cold night air and the vast expanse of the estate stretched out before him, bathed in silvery moonlight.
It had been years-more than ten years-since he last stood here.
This balcony, once his comfort place, now felt both familiar and distant, like a faded memory brought back to life.
Clutching his phone tightly, Lucius stared at the screen for a moment before tapping Roger’s number.
The line barely rang once before Roger picked up as though he had been waiting for this call all along.
“Yes, Boss?” Roger asked.
“Call Aiden and Zayne to the mansion.
I’ll be there shortly,” Lucius said.
“What about Madam?” Roger asked with a worried tone.
“She’s asleep,” Lucius replied.
“Sure, Boss.” Lucius hung up on him and called Demitri, who answered in a few rings.
“Meet me in the mansion if you can,” he said.
“You again began the work,” Demitri complained.
“I need to find out who was behind this,” Lucius said, keeping his voice low.
“I’ll tell Layla.
You better sleep,” Demitri said from the other side.
“You won’t be seeing me if you tell Layla,” Lucius stated.
“You are truly stubborn.
Fine.
I’ll be there,” Demitri replied and the call disconnected.
Lucius entered the room and closed the balcony’s door.
He went to the closet and wore a thick coat.
As he sat down to wear the shoes and once done, he left giving a final glance to Layla.
Reaching his mansion, Lucius saw everyone was already present.
Roger, Aiden and Zayne left their seats, but Demitri remained seated with his arms crossed.

“Let’s straight get to the point.
For how long that fucking X has been tailing me and Layla?” Lucius roared as he stopped near the couch.
“For almost a week,” Demitri replied.
“I hacked the CCTVs to find out his exact image and realized he was around you two all the time,” he affirmed.
“And where he is?” Lucius asked, looking at Zayne while grabbing the file from Demitri in which information related to X was mentioned.
“I am sorry, Boss.
But so far, I couldn’t find out anything.
He has been on the radar for killing people, but since he belongs to Spain, it’s difficult to say anything,” Zayne affirmed.
“It’s strange, Lucius.
Layla became the target in such a short time.
Do you think it’s related to the Russian Mafia whom you had decided to chase?” Demitri asked him.
“I’ve no idea.
I kept thinking about it, but I find it hard to believe that Tsar would Target Layla.
I am sure he doesn’t know I’m after him,” Lucius said confidently.
“Boss, I met a junior jail warden.
Her duty has been changed.
I think it’s related to Seraphina,” Aiden pronounced.
“You think she hired a shooter from the prison?” Demitri asked.
“The prison isn’t a nice place.
All sorts of criminals come there with long histories of crimes.
It is possible that Seraphina is involved in this.
She is the only person who wants to harm Layla,” Aiden answered.
Lucius settled into the plush couch, his mind spinning as he pieced together fragments of the puzzle.
The question of why a shooter from Spain had been hired loomed large in his thoughts.
“I couldn’t trace his origins,” Demitri began, breaking the silence.
“It seems like X was either an orphan or had every detail about him erased before joining any organization.” Lucius frowned, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the armrest.
“Can you track how X entered Italy?” he asked.
“He’s been tailing Layla for a week, which means he must be staying at one of the hotels near either my company or Layla’s.” His voice carried the weight of certainty.
Demitri nodded thoughtfully.
“I can work on that.” “Good,” Lucius said, his tone decisive.
“Let’s start with the hotels.
If X stayed in any of them, we’ll gather the trail from there and move to the next step.
Aiden and Roger will assist you.” “Understood,” Demitri replied.
Lucius turned his gaze to Zayne, who was leaning against the wall.
“If you uncover anything from your side, I’d greatly appreciate it,” he said, his eyes sharp yet hopeful.
“Of course, Boss,” Zayne affirmed with a small nod.
Demitri glanced at Lucius.
“I’ll drop you home,” he offered.
Lucius shook his head, rising from the couch.
“It’s fine.
I’ll manage.
You all should leave now and get some rest.
And…” He hesitated briefly, his tone turning unusually humble.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you all at such a late hour.” The group exchanged brief glances.
“It’s not a trouble.
I am happy that you are not hiding anything from any of us and is willing to work like a team,” Demitri said.
“We need to uncover the truth as soon as possible,” Lucius asserted.
“Don’t worry,” Demitri replied with a confident smile.
“We’ll catch the mastermind behind this attack.
But don’t overexert yourself-you’re not fully healed yet,” he added, his gaze filled with concern.
Lucius sighed softly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
“You worry too much,” he murmured, brushing off the concern.
After ensuring they had all left, Lucius retreated to his study.
He had a call to make-one that could potentially change the course of his investigation.
But as he settled into his chair, his attention was drawn to an unexpected notification on his phone.
It was a message from his mother.
“Call me when you see my message.” He stared at the screen, furrowing his brow.
“Why is she awake at this hour?” he murmured to himself.
After a moment’s hesitation, he chose to ignore the message.
But something in him forced him to call his mother.
