Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 219
Chapter 219: My phone, wife Chapter 219: My phone, wife Roderick knocked softly on the door of Layla and Lucius’s bedroom, his fingers nervously fidgeting as he waited for a response.
Moments later, the door creaked open, revealing Lucius standing in the doorway, his expression calm but curious.
“Uncle, are you free?” Roderick asked hesitantly.
“Yes,” Lucius replied simply, his sharp eyes studying his nephew.
“Who’s at the door?” Layla’s voice called from inside the room, breaking the brief silence.
“My nephew,” Lucius replied, raising his voice just enough for her to hear.
He turned back to Roderick and gestured for him to enter.
“Come in.” Roderick hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, his posture stiff as Lucius followed him.
Once the door was shut, Lucius turned to him.
“What’s on your mind, Roderick?” Roderick drew a deep breath to steady himself.
“Tomorrow is Grandpa’s birthday, and I want it to be perfect.
I need your help to make sure nothing goes wrong-no attacks, no disruptions.
Please ask your men to tighten the security around the estate.” Lucius arched a brow.
Before he could respond, Layla’s voice interrupted.
“How could you ask something like that from Lucius?” she said as she entered the room, her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes fixed on Roderick.
“Well, Uncle has made enemies,” Roderick stated bluntly, glancing at Lucius.
“Last year, we had a huge drama here because of that.” He shifted his gaze to Layla.
“Remember when you got mad at me for not talking to you for two days?” Layla raised a brow, folding her arms tighter, not understanding what he meant by that.
“He’s right, Layla,” Lucius interjected.
Layla’s curiosity piqued.
“What kind of drama are we talking about?” she asked, her gaze darting between them.
Roderick shrugged, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
“Uncle should be the one to explain.
But since you’re curious-a gangster showed up, claiming to be Uncle’s old friend.” Layla’s eyes widened, her mouth slightly agape as she turned to Lucius.
“Is that true?” “It’s true,” Lucius admitted with a sigh.
“But it won’t happen again.
This time, I’ll make sure everything is under control.” “Maybe a new gangster will appear instead,” Roderick quipped, his tone light but pointed.
Lucius shot him a look, half annoyed, half amused.
“Not funny, Roderick.” “Tell Roger to stay on high alert instead of lurking in bars at night,” Roderick remarked sharply, his tone carrying a note of dry humor.
Without waiting for a response, he added as he settled on the couch, “I’ll take my leave now,” and exited the room, leaving an air of tension behind.

Layla sighed, crossing her arms as she muttered, “What was that about?” sitting beside Lucius.
Lucius smirked faintly, leaning back against the chair.
“He’s trying to assassinate my character in front of you, of course.” Though he knew the real reason why Roderick did that.
His nephew wanted to show Layla how dangerous he was for her.
“Huh?” Layla frowned.
“Well, he’s certainly started bothering me lately.” She dismissed the thought with a wave of her hand, her focus shifting.
“Anyway, I’ve decided what we should give your father for his birthday.” Lucius raised a brow, intrigued.
“Oh?
What’s your idea?” Layla’s expression softened as she spoke.
“What about planning a short trip with him?
I know it’s unconventional, but I think he needs it.
He doesn’t say it outright, but it’s written all over his face-how much he wants his family to spend time together.
Remember the old lady whose grandson we took care of?
She used to say, ‘When children grow up, they forget their parents.'” Lucius nodded as he felt he never actually gave time to his father.
“There’s no better gift than dedicating time to your father,” Layla continued earnestly.
“A trip away from all this chaos could be just what he needs.” Lucius considered her suggestion, his expression softening.
“You might be right,” he admitted.
“I’ll start making arrangements.” Layla smiled, pleased that he agreed.
“Good.
It’ll mean a lot to him, and to all of us.” “But we should not take Fiona and Roderick with us.
They’ll only be a bother,” Lucius said with a firm tone.
Layla tilted her head, considering his words.
“Umm…
Now that I’ve gotten to know Sister Fiona, I feel she’s better than her son.
It’s just that, because of Roderick, she sometimes acts irrationally.” “You’re calling her ‘Sister’ now?” Lucius mused with a raised brow.
“Well, Fiona won’t feel comfortable seeing us together.
She’d end up missing Antoine, so it’s better not to take her along.
As for Roderick, well, you already know.” “Hmm, that’s also true,” Layla agreed before her curiosity got the better of her.
“But did she never consider remarrying?
I mean, she’s lived in loneliness for so many years.” Lucius leaned back on the couch, a faint sigh escaping him.
“She did.” Layla’s eyes widened slightly.
“Really?
Then what happened?
Did Roderick not agree?” “I didn’t agree,” Lucius replied plainly.
Layla blinked in surprise, her words caught in her throat.
“Fiona wanted to marry me after Antoine passed away,” Lucius began.
“Her marriage to Antoine was forced, you know.
Antoine even confided in me once that Fiona didn’t love him at first.
Their marriage went through a rough patch, but things improved over time.
Fiona came to respect him deeply.
His death left a void in her life.
Eventually, she developed feelings for me.
Dad supported her and wanted me to consider it, but I refused her plainly.” “Ah, that’s…
complicated,” Layla murmured, recalling the day she first arrived at the house with Lucius.
Fiona’s shock upon discovering that Lucius had married was now beginning to make sense.
“That’s why I don’t like coming here,” Lucius admitted, a faint edge of discomfort in his voice.
“It’s just…
weird, you know.” Layla nodded thoughtfully.
“Hmm.” Breaking the silence, Lucius leaned forward slightly.
“I want my phone, Wife.
If you want me to talk to Demitri, I’ll need it,” he said, smoothly steering the conversation in a different direction.
“Well, you need to impress your wife so that she can give it back to you,” Layla said with a teasing smirk.
