Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 239
Chapter 239: Rescuing Demitri (1) Chapter 239: Rescuing Demitri (1) Layla knitted her brows together as she saw Lucius’s expression.
“Are you alright, Lucius?” Layla finally queried.
Lucius quickly wore a fake smile, not wanting to worry them.
“I need to leave urgently for a work,” he said.
“What work?” Layla pressed, trying to figure out what he has been hiding.
“Well, it’s related to my precious client.
He’s quite upset with me for not keeping my word.
I shouldn’t have postponed our meeting for so long.
I’ll drop you both at the cottage first, then head out to handle it.” Layla tilted her head slightly, her expression skeptical.
“Why would you delay something so important?
Who is this client, Lucius?” Lucius hesitated briefly before responding “It’s Eugene Lombardi,” he admitted.
‘He’s the only one who can help me right now in this lie.’ Alekis, who had been quietly observing the exchange, finally spoke.
“You should take your responsibilities more seriously, Lucius,” he said, his tone carrying a hint of admonishment.
Then, turning to Layla, he added, “Let’s head back to the cottage.
We shouldn’t keep him any longer.” The ride back to the cottage ended soon.
As soon as they arrived, Lucius helped his father out of the car.
He glanced at his watch.
“Layla, take Dad inside.
I’ll leave now.
I may return late or maybe in the morning,” Lucius affirmed.
“Morning?
Why?” Layla asked with a worried tone.
“His place is far from here.
That’s why,” Lucius answered.
‘Sorry for lying to you, but I need to keep it hidden to keep Demitri safe,’ he thought.
He gazed at his father, who was at the stairs of the cottage.
Leaning close, he gently kissed Layla and caressed her cheek.
“Have your supper and sleep tight.” “Hmm.” Layla watched him stepping into the car and drove away.
Lucius raced the car in a speed he should not have but at the moment all he was thinking about was Demitri’s safety.
He already had inserted the location in the GPS device of his car and kept checking the time.

As he crossed the highway, he realized the location was somewhere from the city, an area which was known as the hub of the notorious criminals.
“Demitri, I won’t let anything happen to you,” Lucius murmured as he pressed the accelerator of the car.
~~~~~ “Lucius and I have nothing to do with each other!
Just kill me and get it over with!” Demitri’s voice echoed in the dark, empty room.
He struggled against the ropes that bound him, but they were knotted so tightly that even the smallest movement sent pain shooting through his wrists.
His chest heaved with labored breaths, but he forced himself to speak again, “You should know,” he added, “if I die, the police will come after you.” ‘If Lucius comes here, I have no idea what will happen to him.
I just hope he doesn’t come alone,’ Demitri thought grimly, recalling the phone call the captor had made earlier.
Anxiety churned in his gut as he tried to make sense of his dire situation.
“Hey!
Hey!
Is anyone out there?” he shouted, his voice turning hoarse because of shouting continuously.
“Let me out of here!” He kept yelling, desperate for any response.
Finally, the sound of a lock turning broke the oppressive silence.
Demitri’s eyes darted to the door as it creaked open, allowing faint light to spill into the dark room.
His heart raced because of the fear when he saw a tall figure step inside.
The man’s face, partially illuminated, revealed a jagged, deadly scar as if a part of his face was burned.
Before Demitri could react, the man was already untying the ropes around his wrists.
The moment his hands were free, Demitri took a chance.
With all the strength he could muster, he swung a punch at the man’s face.
His knuckles throbbed immediately upon impact, but the man barely flinched, his jaw tightening as if the blow was nothing more than a nuisance.
Demitri staggered back.
“Th-this is for ignoring my-my pleas!” he stammered, trying to mask his fear with bravado.
The man’s expression darkened, and before Demitri could brace himself, a powerful punch landed squarely on his face.
Pain exploded in his skull as blood trickled from his nose.
He crumpled to the floor, gasping in agony, his vision turning hazy.
The man grabbed him roughly by the back of his shirt, hoisting him to his feet as if he weighed nothing.
Without a word, he dragged Demitri out of the room.
The hallway blurred in and out of focus, leaving Demitri barely able to keep his head upright.
Lucius had already arrived at the mansion when his eyes fell on Demitri being dragged into an empty, dimly lit hall.
His breath hitched as he saw the state his friend was in-disheveled, bloodied, and barely able to stand.
The tall guy threw Demitri to the ground with a brutal force, and he sprawled across the cold floor, clutching his stomach as a sharp kick landed there.
A pained groan escaped Demitri’s lips as he writhed in agony.
“Demitri!” Lucius’s voice boomed through the hall.
He sprinted across the room, dropping to his knees beside his friend.
“Lu…cius… just leave.
Don’t save m-me,” Demitri whispered weakly.
“Shut up,” Lucius snapped in anger.
“I didn’t come here to leave you behind.” A slow, mocking clap echoed through the hall, followed by a voice dripping with contempt.
“I can’t believe Lucius De Salvo is on his knees to save a worthless man.” Lucius turned sharply, his piercing gaze landing on the source of the voice.
A man stepped into the hall.
He appeared to be around Lucius’s age, but his face was unfamiliar.
This was the first time he had seen him, and he had no clue who he was or what he wanted.
“Who are you, and what do you want?” Lucius demanded, standing up slowly.
