Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 244
Chapter 244: Type of woman I wanted Chapter 244: Type of woman I wanted The next morning, Layla stirred wake from her sleep, feeling steady, warm breath falling on her forehead.
She looked up and saw Lucius next to her.
But they were on bed.
Last night after Lucius left, Layla waited for him to return on the chaise and ended up falling asleep there.
Layla noticed a frown creased on his forehead.
Instinctively, she reached out, her fingertip brushing against the crease on his forehead.
She traced it gently.
Her lips curved into a faint smile as she whispered to herself, “Even in sleep, you don’t let yourself rest.” Lying quietly for a moment longer, Layla carefully slipped out of bed, ensuring she didn’t disturb Lucius.
Once freshened up, she made her way downstairs, her mind already buzzing with plans for the day.
Since they had to leave the vacation cottage by the afternoon, she wanted to capture a family photograph-something to remember forever.
After making the arrangements, she lowered her phone, a satisfied smile on her lips, when she heard Roderick’s voice.
“Good morning, Layla.
You look radiant today,” he said.
Layla turned to him, squinting slightly as she took in his casual appearance.
“Thank you,” she replied.
“But I’m surprised to see you up so early.
Isn’t this a little out of character for you?” Roderick chuckled, running a hand through his slightly disheveled hair.
“I hardly get a good night’s sleep when I’m not in my own house.
You know that well,” he admitted with a shrug while reminding her.
“But since I’m up, I thought I’d ask-would you like to have coffee with me?
Everyone else seems like they’ll be sleeping in for a while.” Layla’s polite smile didn’t falter.
“Thank you for the offer, Rick, but I’ll have to decline.
I try to avoid coffee in the morning,” she said gently.
Her gaze flickered right behind Roderick, and her smile widened.
“Oh, look, Ivy’s here!
You should definitely enjoy a mug of your coffee with her instead.
I’m sure she’d appreciate the company.” Roderick followed her gaze, spotting Ivy entering the room.
His smile grew slightly crooked as he glanced back at Layla, who walked away.
“I don’t want to drink coffee with you,” Ivy said bluntly, not even sparing Roderick a glance as she made her way to the kitchen.
She busied herself preparing a cup of green tea.

Roderick followed her.
“I wasn’t going to ask you to,” he replied, leaning casually against the kitchen counter.
“Though I can’t help but wonder-why didn’t you leave last night if you were so upset about everything?” Ivy sighed, her patience already wearing thin.
“I wish I could’ve,” she said, placing the kettle on the stove.
“But your mother was insistent on keeping me here.
I don’t disrespect elders, Rick, no matter how much I want to get away.” Roderick raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes.
“That’s hard to believe,” he said in a mocking way.
Ignoring his jab, Ivy focused on pouring hot water into her cup with a green tea bag.
“Pretend to date me for a month,” he said suddenly, turning serious.
“Then I’ll call it off myself.” Ivy froze mid-sip, her brows knitting together as she turned to face him.
“A month?” she asked, her tone laced with disbelief.
“Why would you want to do something like that for a month?” Roderick met her gaze.
“Because I have my reasons,” he said vaguely.
Unlike the previous times, he wanted to show his grandfather he was serious this time.
“Sure,” Ivy agreed to him and left while grabbing the cup of green tea.
From the window of the kitchen, Roderick’s gaze wandered outside and landed on Layla, standing in the garden with Aiden.
Her laughter rang out softly, her radiant smile lighting up the morning.
She looked carefree and happy, the sunlight catching the highlights in her hair and making her seem almost ethereal.
Roderick’s expression shifted as he watched them, his usual smugness replaced by something more somber.
He leaned slightly against the counter as he let out a quiet murmur, almost to himself.
“I was a jerk to ditch her,” he admitted.
His eyes lingered on Layla.
“She was the type of woman I always wanted in my life.
And I ruined it.” There was regret in his eyes and he was feeling a hollow even in his heart because the woman who used to ask him daily about his well-being had gone far from him.
~~~~ Lucius entered the room, his skin glistening in the morning.
A towel hung low around his hips while his hair was damp.
He picked up his phone from the bedside table and saw a message from Demitri.
A small, satisfied smile formed on his lips as he read it.
Before he could put the phone back down, warmth suddenly enveloped him-Layla’s arms wrapped tightly around his waist, her face resting against the broad expanse of his back.
“Good morning, hubby,” she greeted with smile.
Lucius chuckled, placing the phone aside and turning to face her.
He gently grasped her hands in his, his piercing eyes softening as they met hers.
“Good morning, sunshine,” he murmured.
“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting last night.” Before she could respond, he leaned in and captured her lips in a kiss.
It started slow and sweet, but then he nibbled teasingly on her bottom lip, making her giggle softly.
Her hands instinctively locked around his nape, pulling him closer.
When they finally broke apart, Layla pushed him back slightly, her cheeks flushed but her gaze mischievous.
“I’ll forgive you,” she said, her voice light and full of mock seriousness, “but only if you give me something.” Lucius raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
“And what would that be, my demanding little wife?” he asked, his tone teasing as his hands slid to her waist, pulling her back against him.
Layla smirked.
“Can you really give that to me?” She teased.
“Of course.
Just name it and I’ll bring it to you,” Lucius asserted.
“A family photograph is all I need today.
So, dress up really nicely.
I want us to look the perfect couple in the family picture,” she asserted.
“Okay.
That’s easy for me to do,” Lucius replied and kissed her again, pulling her in his embrace.
