Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 248
Chapter 248: If I were a good guy Chapter 248: If I were a good guy After leaving the party, Roderick dialed Ivy’s number.
“Ivy, meet me for coffee,” he requested.
“I’m on my way home.
Is it really necessary to meet at this hour?” Ivy asked, glancing at the traffic that was thickening ahead.
“Of course, it’s necessary.
That’s why I called you,” Roderick insisted but with a hint of something else, something Ivy couldn’t quite place.
“Alright.
I’ll send you the cafe address.
We can meet there,” Ivy replied.
She ended the call and muttered to herself, “He sounded a little off.” She quickly typed the address of Caffè Sereno into her phone and sent it to Roderick.
“Drive to Caffè Sereno,” she instructed her driver, watching the traffic slowly clear up.
As the road opened up, the car smoothly made its way toward the café.
Once they arrived, Ivy stepped out of the car, her heels clicking on the pavement as she walked inside.
She scanned the room for Roderick’s presence.
Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through her thoughts.
“Let’s go upstairs,” Roderick said from right behind her.
Startled, Ivy turned around and found him standing there.
“Hmm.
Sure,” Ivy replied.
Without another word, they made their way to the second floor.
Taking a table, Roderick ordered the coffee and pastries for them.
“You look off today.
Everything good?” Ivy asked, placing her handbag next to her on the sofa lounge.
Roderick took a moment before speaking, “I cheated on Layla because she was an illegitimate daughter of the Rosenzweig Family.
I thought if I had her sister around, I could get perks.
I know I did so bad to Layla, but I regret it now.
I mean…
Seeing her with my uncle I feel angry and devastated.” Their orders arrived promptly, and the waiter, with a polite smile, placed the cups and plates on the table before stepping away.
“Enjoy,” he said before leaving them to their conversation.
Ivy stirred her coffee lightly, observing Roderick’s troubled expression.

“So, let me get this straight,” she began in a pointed tone.
“You’re upset because your ex-girlfriend is now your boss-Chairwoman of the company, no less.
Something you never saw coming.” She picked up her cup and took a slow sip, her sharp eyes locked on him.
Roderick let out a long sigh, his fingers tapping the table lightly.
“Are you remorseful?” Ivy asked, setting the cup back on its saucer.
“I am,” Roderick admitted.
“It doesn’t sit right, seeing her with my uncle.
I feel jealous.
It’s not easy watching them together, and I know…
I know what I’m doing right now is wrong, too.
But it just eats at me.” Ivy tilted her head.
“That’s why I called you a jerk,” she said bluntly.
“You’re so focused on your jealousy that you fail to see the real problem.
Do you think Layla will keep loving you after discovering the truth?
You betrayed her, Roderick.
I’ve seen that girl humiliated back in university, ridiculed by people, and you?
You never once protected her.
Instead, you had the audacity to sneak around with her half-sister.
Do you even realize the gravity of that mistake?” Her words were like a punch on his gut, causing him to freeze.
He looked away, his hand reaching for the dessert spoon.
Silence fell over the table as he began eating his pastry.
Ivy, too, turned her attention to her own dessert, her earlier harshness gnawing at her conscience.
Perhaps she had been too blunt, but she wasn’t about to take back her words.
After a while, Roderick broke the silence.
“Why can’t you refuse your parents about this arrangement?” he asked with curiosity.
Ivy glanced at him and let out a small sigh.
“Your family is well-off,” she replied truthfully, her voice carrying a hint of resignation.
Roderick chuckled, though it lacked any real humor.
“What kind of response is that?” he asked, shaking his head, clearly dissatisfied with her answer.
Ivy offered a faint smile, her expression unreadable.
“An honest one,” she said, lifting her coffee cup once more.
“De Salvo family is one of the richest families in the world.
And your grandfather kind of likes me and so do your mom.
My parents think it’s perfect family for me,” she explained.
“Have you been single all this time?” Roderick pressed, his gaze narrowing in suspicion.
“Why do you want to know?” Ivy arched a brow at him, her tone sharp.
“Maybe you don’t want to see me because you’re with someone,” Roderick assumed, leaning back in his chair as if testing his theory.
Ivy let out a soft chuckle, her lips curling into a faint smile.
“I am single.
I have never dated anyone before,” she said, her voice steady.
“It’s just that I don’t like you, Roderick.
You’re not the type of man I see myself fitting with,” she declared, her words firm yet indifferent.
Roderick blinked, visibly surprised to learn that Ivy had never dated anyone before.
It wasn’t something he had expected.
“If I were a good guy, you would’ve considered seeing me?” he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
“Maybe,” Ivy replied nonchalantly, her fingers wrapping around her coffee cup as she drained the last sip.
Glancing at her watch, she added, “I should go now.
I think you feel better after talking.” Roderick hesitated for a moment before offering, “I’ll drop you home.” “Thank you, but my driver is already here,” Ivy said politely, standing up and smoothing her dress as she picked up her handbag.
“Go home soon.
Your mother worries a lot about you,” she remarked, her tone softening slightly before she turned to leave.
“Ivy,” Roderick called out, stopping her in her tracks.
She turned to look at him, her expression calm but curious.
“I’ll tell my grandpa that I’m not interested in you,” he said with a decisive tone.
Her brow raised slightly, intrigued by his words.
For a moment, she studied him before replying, “Then, I’ll wait for this arrangement to break off.” With that, she turned and walked away in her pencil heels.
