Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 255
Chapter 255: Walk into a trap Chapter 255: Walk into a trap “Aren’t we having dinner?” Layla asked softly, her gaze fixed on Lucius as he ran his fingers through her hair, a tender gesture that made her heart flutter.
Lucius arched a brow, his lips curving into a faint smile.
“It’s already dinner time?” he asked, his tone teasing, though his attention remained on her.
“Yes, it is,” Layla replied with a gentle nod.
She shifted slightly, propping herself up on her left elbow.
Her hair spilled over her shoulder, glimmering in the dim light, and she casually tucked it behind her ear.
“Sylvia must be asleep in the guest room by now, so let’s not disturb her.
We should go have our dinner.” “Sure.
I suddenly feel hungry,” Lucius said and watched Layla stand up.
Lucius caught her hand, gently stopping her from leaving.
Resting his head against her belly, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as though grounding himself in her presence.
“I need to go to Russia soon,” he murmured, his voice tinged with an unspoken heaviness.
“Everything started from there.
Will you allow me to go?” Layla looked down at him, her fingers instinctively brushing through his hair.
“You should go,” she said calmly, her tone practical yet caring.
“But with preparations.
Winter will come soon, and it’s better to go now than later.” Lucius exhaled deeply, her words giving him a sense of resolve.
“Hmm.
I’ll start the preparations, then,” he agreed, his voice firmer now.
Shifting to the edge of the couch, he swung his legs down and reached for his slippers.
Just as he slid them on, the phone on the table buzzed, breaking the moment.
It was an unknown number.
Lucius hesitated for a beat before picking it up.
“Am I speaking to Lucius De Salvo?” came a woman’s voice on the other end of the line.
“This is he,” Lucius replied, his brow furrowing slightly.
“I’m sorry, but who is this?” “Someone who can tell about Tsar.
Just make sure you won’t tell anyone about this, not even your dear wife,” said the woman from the other side.
“I think you called the wrong person,” Lucius said curtly and ended the call without hesitation.
He quickly sent the woman’s number to Demitri in a text, instructing him to dig into the details.
Layla, who had been observing him, tilted her head curiously.

“What happened?
Who was on the call?” “A woman claiming she had information about Tsar,” Lucius replied in a nonchalant tone.
“What?” Layla’s brows knitted in surprise.
“Then why did you hang up on her?
You should’ve heard her out!” Lucius sighed as he turned serious.
“I try to avoid unnecessary contact with women who aren’t close to me,” he said.
“Aside from my wife, I don’t talk to other women unless it’s necessary.
Most importantly, she told me not to share anything with you.
That alone is a red flag.
I’ve learned to avoid situations where I can’t control the outcome.” Layla’s gaze softened, though disbelief lingered in her eyes.
“But don’t you think it’s strange?
Why would a woman approach you like this?
And with information about Tsar of all things?” “I don’t care, Layla,” Lucius said firmly.
“I’ve learned to trust very few people.
I’ve been wary of others for a long time, especially with the circles I’m involved in.
Many in the underworld know me.
Carlo and Fabio are aware of my interest in Tsar’s information.
If a woman approaches me out of nowhere, it’s likely she doesn’t have good intentions.” Layla frowned but remained silent, watching him closely as he continued.
“I don’t want to walk into a trap, especially one where I can’t protect you.
I may keep secrets, Layla, but for some reason, I always want to share them with you.
You’re the only person I trust fully,” Lucius finished, his voice softening as his gaze met hers.
Layla nodded her head as she understood what he meant.
“Fine.
Do what you feel is right.
Let’s have dinner now,” she pronounced, hooking her arm with his and went to the kitchen with him.
~~~~~ Roderick descended the stairs, heading toward his grandfather’s room, when the phone in his hand buzzed.
He glanced at the screen and furrowed his brows in confusion upon seeing Ivy’s name.
Pausing for a moment, he answered the call.
“I’m going to tell my Grandpa.
I’ll talk to you later,” Roderick said, his tone brisk.
“Wait!” Ivy’s voice interrupted him, laced with urgency.
He stopped mid-step, tilting his head slightly.
“Can you meet me now?” she asked.
“Why?” Roderick questioned, his brow arching as he picked up on the faint sound of an instrumental tune playing in the background.
“I’m at a bar, Ruby Red,” Ivy replied before abruptly ending the call.
Roderick stared at the screen, a frown creasing his forehead.
“Why does she want to see me at a bar?” he muttered to himself.
Turning on his heel, he headed back to his room.
After swapping his casual outfit for warmer clothes, he grabbed his car keys and set off for the bar.
Roderick pulled the car in front of the bar in the driveway and went inside.
He called Ivy, asking her where she was.
“To your left,” Ivy replied.
Roderick turned to the left and spotted her, sitting on the counter chair.
Slipping his phone inside the pocket, he walked to her and sat down next to her on the empty chair.
He glanced at Ivy, noticing her tear-stricken face.
“Were you crying?
Why?” “He broke up with me,” Ivy said.
“Who?
Wait!
You were seeing someone!?” Roderick asked, not blinking for a moment.
“Never mind.
We were only acting,” he then murmured.
“I wanted to marry my long-term boyfriend.
We’ve been friends since school.
My father’s company hasn’t been doing well, and he knew about it all this time.
This morning, we met, and… he ended everything.
Said he couldn’t deal with it anymore.” Her voice cracked, and tears escaped her eyes.
She quickly wiped them away, but it was clear she was struggling to hold herself together.
Roderick leaned back slightly, his gaze softening.
“So, why did you call me?” he asked gently.
Ivy sighed, her fingers wrapping around the glass of alcohol in front of her.
“I just… needed someone to talk to,” she murmured.
“I can’t tell anyone about this.
It was always a secret.
No one even knew we were together.”
