Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 260
Chapter 260: Taste like strawberries Chapter 260: Taste like strawberries “It would be good if you stayed for lunch,” Lucius suggested warmly, his tone carrying a subtle hint of persuasion as he walked alongside Roderick toward the door.
“Perhaps another time, Uncle,” Roderick replied politely but firmly, his lips curving into a faint smile.
“Staying here would feel…awkward for me,” he admitted after a moment, his voice tinged with hesitation.
“I’ll see you on Monday, then.” Lucius gave a small nod, understanding his nephew’s reluctance.
“Alright.
I’ll see you out,” he said.
Roderick nodded in response, and together, they moved toward the exit.
As they crossed the living room, Roderick’s gaze landed on Sylvia.
The sight of her standing there caught him off guard, a flicker of confusion flashing across his face.
What was she doing here?
His thoughts raced, wondering if things between Lucius and Sylvia had somehow taken a positive turn.
But then another, far more troubling thought took root in his mind.
What if Sylvia spoke to Layla?
What if she said something that would make Layla despise him even more?
Reaching outside the mansion, Roderick entered the car and drove off.
Lucius waved at him and a small smile formed on his lips before he walked inside.
“Why did Roderick come here?
I thought you both were on odd terms,” Sylvia said.
She had the fear that Roderick might have told Lucius how they both planned a month ago to separate Lucius from Layla.
“He had some work from me,” Lucius replied.
“Are you still upset with me?” Sylvia queried.
“No,” Lucius said and turned to go to the kitchen to check on Layla.
“Lucius, I am sorry, okay?
I didn’t know that Carlo might keep me as captive.
Can’t you just let it go this time and forgive me?” She asked.
Lucius turned to face Sylvia, his expression calm but his words sharp.
“Of course, I’ll forgive you-once you change your attitude, treat everyone here with respect, and stop scheming behind my back.
I know very well how you and Roderick teamed up to try to ruin my life.” His voice was laced with disappointment as he turned away, leaving her with nothing but his cold shoulder.
Sylvia’s nails dug into her palms as she clenched her fists, her body stiff with agitation at his sharp response.
Swallowing her frustration, she spun on her heel to head outside and get some air.

Her pace was hurried, and as she turned the corner, she bumped her head against Roger’s arm.
He was walking in the opposite direction, his attention absorbed by the screen of the tablet in his hand.
“Can’t you watch where you’re going?” Sylvia snapped, her voice sharper than she intended.
Roger stopped, raising an eyebrow at her.
“I could say the same to you,” he retorted, frowning slightly.
“Shouldn’t you already be on your way home?
It’s hardly appropriate for you to linger around a married couple,” he added before stopping a passing maid.
“Is Boss in his study?” Roger asked, glancing briefly at her.
“No, Master is in the kitchen,” the maid replied politely with a slight bow.
“I see.
Thank you,” Roger said, nodding in acknowledgment as the maid walked away.
Sylvia crossed her arms tightly across her chest, her gaze narrowing as she addressed him.
“You were nothing but a servant once.
A nobody in my house.
If it weren’t for my brother’s charity, you wouldn’t even have the right to stand here before me.
Lucius might hold you in high regard, but perhaps you should remind yourself the place you belonged.” Roger stopped mid-step and turned fully to face her as he lowered the tablet to his side.
“Are you even serious right now?” he asked.
“Never mind.
I can’t waste my time while talking to someone like you,” he murmured in frustration.
“That’s better.
Don’t talk to me.
Don’t even look at me,” Sylvia snapped, her voice sharp with anger, before storming away.
From behind a nearby pillar, Lucius and Layla stood quietly.
They had witnessed their heated exchange, and Sylvia’s harsh words directed at Roger didn’t sit well with either of them.
Layla, holding plates in her hands, glanced at Roger with concern.
“I feel bad for him,” she whispered softly, her heart aching at the way Sylvia treated him.
Lucius’s jaw tightened too.
“This is exactly why I can’t stand Sylvia.
She never misses a chance to hurt Roger,” he muttered under his breath, his voice laced with irritation.
As Roger began to turn in their direction, Lucius quickly pulled Layla behind the pillar, not wanting him to see them as it could hurt him.
He placed a finger gently against her lips, signaling her to stay silent.
Once Roger walked away and headed toward Lucius’s study, Lucius finally let go of Layla’s arms, his hand lingering briefly before dropping to his side.
“Did he leave?” Layla asked in a hushed tone.
“Yes,” Lucius replied, his gaze softening as he turned his attention to her.
He leaned down with a mischievous glint in his eye, aiming for her lips.
“Lucius!” she exclaimed, ducking her head to avoid his kiss, though a smile tugged at her lips.
“Hmm?” he murmured playfully, undeterred by her glare.
Sliding a hand to the back of her head, he gently guided her closer and pressed his lips to hers in a lingering kiss.
When he finally pulled back, his lips curled into a teasing smirk.
“Your lips taste like strawberries,” he whispered, licking his own as if savoring the flavor.
Layla’s cheeks flushed, and she lightly swatted his arm, her smile widening.
“That’s because I ate strawberries earlier,” she said.
“Then, I should taste–” He couldn’t finish his words as Layla placed her finger on his lips.
“No!
Zayne will be here soon, so let me work,” Layla said, “and like a good husband help me.” “Sure, wife.” He followed Layla to the dining table, helping her in arranging the plates.
He never even took pleasure in such kind of work before, but with Layla even the tiniest of the work was enjoyable.
