Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 268
Chapter 268: My happiness will fade Chapter 268: My happiness will fade “Sir, Madam, this is your room.
Please don’t hesitate to call room service if you need anything,” the hotel staff said with a polite smile.
“Enjoy your stay.” With that, he stepped out and gently closed the door behind him.
Layla wandered into the room, her eyes immediately drawn to the balcony.
Lucius followed her, and together they stepped outside.
The view was breathtaking-a serene, vast lake stretched out before them, surrounded by clusters of small trees swaying gently in the after rain breeze.
“Doesn’t this place look so dreamy?” Layla asked, turning to face Lucius, her radiant smile reaching her eyes.
“It does,” he replied in a warm tone.
“Click some pictures of me,” she said, her enthusiasm bubbling over.
Lucius chuckled softly, reaching into his pocket for his phone.
“Alright, let’s capture them.” Layla struck a few playful poses, the joy on her face evident as he snapped photos.
“Now, stand with your back to me and then glance over your shoulder at me,” Lucius suggested, gesturing with his hand to explain the pose.
“Like this?” Layla turned her back to him and glanced over her shoulder.
“Yeah, just like that.” He smiled, capturing a candid shot that perfectly captured her elegance against the dreamy backdrop of the lake.
Looking at the photo, Lucius couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride.
“Beautiful,” he murmured, more to himself than to her.
“I will click the pictures of you.
Stand here,” Layla said, taking his phone from him.
“I am not photogenic, Layla,” he said.
“Please,” she urged.
With a hum, Lucius leaned against the balustrade, his elbows resting on it.
The pose made him look effortlessly elegant.
Layla snapped a few photos of him before feeling satisfied.
She handed the phone back to him.
“See?
You look perfect,” she said with a grin.
Lucius slid the phone into his pocket, wrapping his arm around her waist as they stood side by side.
The gentle breeze ruffled their hair.
He lowered his gaze, his eyes lingering on Layla’s radiant expression.
‘She is happy.

I don’t want this smile on her face to ever fade.
But will I be able to keep her happy always?
Why does it seem every time I’ve tried living a life, my happiness will fade shortly?’ Such thoughts had begun haunting him recently.
He didn’t wish to voice them out because it would only grow Layla’s worries.
But a moment later, he told himself, ‘I am Lucius.
I should not fear and keep moving.
Layla is my strength and I know, with her help I’ll be able to live a good life.
I need to be positive.’ ~~~~~ Roderick looked blankly at the wall before him as he took a few sips from the glass.
He wasn’t focused on the noises that had filled the lounge on the second floor.
“What is going on with you, man?” Karl nudged his shoulder as he sat on the armrest of the sofa chair Roderick was seated on.
“Nothing,” Roderick replied.
“Dude, even on the weekends you’ve turned serious.
You don’t party anymore.
What’s wrong with you?
Is it because you failed to become the chairman?” Maxwell pressed on his old wound again.
Last time too he tried provoking Roderick to infuriate him.
However, to his surprise, Roderick didn’t say anything and simply shook his head.
“Do you want us to set you up with someone?” Maxwell then asked.
“What about the brunette over there?” Roderick glared at him but did not want to argue with Maxwell.
“Really?
Funny, because your father came to my grandfather recently asking for help with some investments.
Are you sure the family business is doing as well as you claim?” he asked, raising a brow in mock curiosity.
Maxwell’s jaw tightened, his fingers curling into fists under the table.
He wanted to fire back, but arguing with Roderick in a public setting felt beneath him.
Instead, he stood abruptly.
“I’m leaving,” he said curtly, pulling out his wallet.
He threw a few bills on the table and turned to go.
“Hey, Max didn’t mean to upset you,” Karl said, attempting to defuse the tension.
“I know,” Roderick replied flatly, giving Karl a blank look before walking away without another word.
As soon as Roderick was out of their sight, Maxwell let out a frustrated sigh.
“What does that arrogant prick think he is?” he snarled.
“Calm down, Max,” Karl sighed, shaking his head.
“Why do you always have to push Roderick’s buttons?
He hasn’t seen us for days after your last argument with him.
Remember when we were all close friends?” “That was a long time ago,” Maxwell muttered, his voice bitter.
“Roderick made it clear a while back that friendship doesn’t matter to him anymore.
He always flaunted his wealth before us.” Karl sighed again but said nothing, knowing Maxwell wasn’t wrong either.
“I am leaving,” Maxwell said and waved at Karl.
However, after coming out of the bar, he called someone.
“I want you to teach a lesson to someone,” Maxwell said on the phone.
“I’ll send you the money once you do the work.
Make sure not to go extreme just some fists on his face,” he said in a low voice.
“Whose face do you want me to break?” asked a man seated under the dim light.
“Roderick De Salvo.
You must be aware of the name, if not, then find out in the internet.
You’ll definitely find his face,” Maxwell stated.
“Consider your work is done.
I want a million for it,” said the man from the other side.
“Half a million I’ll give you in an hour but the other half you’ll get after the work is done,” Maxwell instructed.
“Sure.” Maxwell hung up the call and dialed his secretary.
“I want you to arrange half a million for me in an hour,” he said and hung up the call.
“Roderick, you need a good beating before you start respecting the others,” he muttered with a menacing expression on his face and made his way to his car.
