Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 271
Chapter 271: Look at my uncle Chapter 271: Look at my uncle “Did you notice a paparazzi followed us?” Roderick asked.
“Huh?
Where?” Ivy was shocked to learn that.
“Don’t act like you have spotted the paparazzi.
He must have clicked our pictures by now.
So, what do you think we should do?
Give them more spice or leave it,” Roderick left the decision on her, his eyes lingering on her eyes for a long moment before they fell on her lips.
“Is it necessary to give them spice?” Ivy queried.
“We need to separate our ways after a while,” she murmured.
“I get it,” Roderick pulled away and stepped out of the car.
Rounding to her side, he opened the door for her.
Ivy stepped out, hesitating briefly before heading toward her front door.
Roderick followed her closely, making sure to drop her by the door.
“You can come inside for a while,” Ivy offered, glancing over her shoulder.
“Take a break before heading home.” Roderick gave her a faint smile but shook his head.
“Thanks, but I’ll pass.
Your mom will be home soon after her hospital discharge.
She’ll need you more than I do.
Besides,” he added with a teasing grin, “I don’t want to look like a midday drunkard in front of your parents.” As Ivy laughed softly, and the air swept a strand of her hair across her cheek.
Roderick reached out instinctively, brushing it away with a gentle touch.
“I’ll get going, then,” he said, stepping back and giving her one last look before sliding into his car.
Ivy stood at the entrance, watching as he left in the car.
“Did I misjudge him all this time?” she mumbled before heading inside.
Meanwhile, Roderick turned to check if the car was still following him and it was.
Why?
The first question that hit his mind.
“Drive fast,” he instructed the driver.
He thought it was a paparazzi, but now, he felt it was someone dangerous.
Taking out his phone, the first name that appeared in his mind was Lucius.
However, his fingers only hovered the number and didn’t dial it.

The hesitation came because of the cold war he had been with his uncle for a long time.
Roderick again turned to look in the hope, he noticed something wrong.
To his surprise, the car was no longer chasing him.
He heaved a sigh of relief and leaned comfortably against the seat.
“I thought someone was after me,” he murmured to himself before reaching the home finally.
Once there, he paid the chauffeur and walked inside.
However, as he walked in, he found his mother was engaged in a serious conversation with his grandfather.
“Father, do you truly think Rick isn’t capable?
I think you are punishing him because of what he did to Layla and how badly he handled that situation,” Fiona said with a disappointed gaze.
After meeting George, Fiona felt she should once again try convincing her father-in-law.
“We already talked about this, Fiona,” Alekis said, clasping his hands together.
“I know you are upset because I didn’t choose my blood whom I claimed to love the most.
Roderick wasn’t serious about his work.
I checked out his past performance, the projects he worked on,” he explained.
“But Father, Roderick has given many wonderful results too.
Antoine and he can’t be compared.
No two humans can be the same.
It was my fault not to teach him rightly,” Fiona said, requesting Alekis to reconsider.
“Mom,” Roderick intervened, bringing his elders attention to him.
“Son!” Fiona was flustered to see him, hoping he hadn’t heard their conversation.
“Grandpa didn’t do anything wrong.
So, please don’t ask him to change his decision.
I have accepted it,” Roderick stated.
“I am a bit tired, so I’ll speak with you both later at dinner time.” He gave a slight bow to his grandfather and left for his room to have a moment of peace.
Removing his thick clothing, he rested his legs on the bed and laid his head against the headboard.
As he was about to shut his eyes, his mother’s voice reched his ears.
“Why did you lie to your grandfather?
You shouldn’t have intervened, son,” Fiona said, settling near the bed’s lower edge, looking at Roderick with a worried gaze.
“I didn’t lie,” Roderick said.
“What do you mean?” asked Fiona, clearly confused.
“Mom, I made some serious mistakes.
I felt I could have everything on my feet with the money I had.
I took granted a lot of things.
Mom…
I liked Layla…
in fact, I still do.
She was everything a woman should be in my eyes.
That’s why I chose her out of so many women available for me.
But I-I was consumed by momentarily greed and lust.
I thought Layla would never find out and I would have her.
That ring I wanted to give to Layla that night, but I gave it to Orabela because my uncle set a trap for me.
I blamed Uncle Lucius when it was me who was culprit.
I feel agitated thinking about it everyday.” Roderick hardly used to tell things to his mother.
He would rather face them alone rather speaking about them.
“Money can’t buy everything.
I realized it late.
That’s why I want to improve.
I want Layla to forgive me.
And I don’t want to ditch my work and follow some shortcuts.
I tried to trick my grandpa, who gave me everything and even more,” Roderick pronounced, opening up his true feelings toward the decision of his grandfather.
“You could have changed–” Fiona couldn’t complete her words as her son interjected.
“No.
It’s not easy to change.
You don’t know me, Mom.
I am nothing like my Dad.
I could never become the image of him.
All I have brought are disappointments and I always hated to admit it.
When I look at my uncle, I feel, at least, he accepts his faults.
That’s why my dad loved my uncle so much.
He was honest unlike his son, who tried to trick everyone.” Fiona’s heart sank to heard such deeper thoughts of her son.
“Mom, don’t worry.
I am still your son.
So, even if I didn’t become the chairman, I will always respect that how much you’ve always done for me.
So, don’t request anyone like that.
I feel sad seeing you like that,” Roderick stated.
