Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 278
Chapter 278: Hate my methods Chapter 278: Hate my methods “Mad?” Aiden chuckled, shaking his head.
“You were about to be harmed.
Do you even understand the seriousness of the situation?” He reprimanded Roderick.
Roderick sighed, running his fingers through his hair as his gaze fell on the two men sprawled on the floor.
“Did Maxwell send you to harm me?” he asked sharply.
“Yes,” the one on the left admitted with a bruised cheek.
“He approached our boss.” Roderick’s jaw tightened, and without hesitation, he pulled out his phone, dialing Maxwell’s number.
But before the call could connect, Roger snatched the device from his hand.
“You’re not calling him,” Roger stated firmly, slipping the phone into his pocket.
“He’ll be here shortly.” “Are you serious, Roger?” Roderick’s voice rose, his irritation boiling over.
“I hate what you all do.
I’ve told you that a thousand times.” Roger met his glare with a calm but stern expression.
“Hate it all you want, but this is the best way to eliminate any threat to you.
And you should’ve informed us about this sooner.
You can’t afford to compromise your safety, Roderick.” Before Roderick could respond, a loud, indignant voice echoed through the hall.
“Hey!
Let go of my arm!” Maxwell shouted as he was dragged into the room, his voice filled with both anger and resistance.
Maxwell was forcefully thrown to the floor, his hands scraping against the rough surface.
He looked up, his expression shifting from confusion to panic as he saw Roderick standing over him.
“Wha-what’s this, Rick?” Maxwell asked in a trembling voice.
“Did you send someone to tail me?” Roderick demanded, his frown deepening.
“What are you talking about?
Why would I do that?” Maxwell lied smoothly, his tone laced with feigned innocence.
Roger, however, wasn’t convinced.
He marched over, grabbed Maxwell by the collar, and yanked him up slightly.
“Roger, stop!” Roderick yelled in his sharp voice.
But Roger didn’t listen, landing a hard punch squarely on Maxwell’s face.
The impact echoed through the room as Maxwell groaned in pain, blood trickling from his nose.
“Aiden, get him to stop!” Roderick shouted, his frustration mounting now.
Aiden smirked and shook his head.

“Sorry, Young Master.
I can’t.
Anyone who tries to harm you has to face the consequences,” he said in a cold tone.
Roger leaned closer to Maxwell, his voice low and menacing.
“Speak the truth, kid.
Did you send someone to harm Roderick?” “I didn’t!
I swear I didn’t!” Maxwell insisted while keeping up with his lie.
Roderick exhaled deeply, his patience wearing thin.
Ignoring the ongoing chaos, he turned to one of the men in a black suit standing nearby.
“Give me your phone,” he commanded.
The man quickly handed over the device, and Roderick dialed Lucius’s number.
He pressed the phone to his ear, his eyes narrowing when the call went unanswered.
“Dammit,” he muttered under his breath before trying another number.
This time, he dialed Layla, silently praying she would pick up.
“Hello,” Layla answered in her usual soft voice.
“Please give the phone to Uncle,” Roderick requested with urgency.
“Uh…
okay,” Layla said hesitantly, handing the phone to Lucius, who sat across from her at the table.
“Roderick’s calling from an unknown number,” she informed Lucius.
Lucius furrowed his brows, his instincts alerting him that something was amiss.
He quickly took the phone.
“Yes, Rick?” he answered, immediately catching the sound of Roger’s voice in the background.
His worry deepened.
“Uncle, tell Roger to stop beating my friend!
I hate it!” Roderick yelled.
Lucius excused himself from the table and walked to the balcony of the restaurant, seeking a quieter space.
“But what’s the matter?
Why is Roger beating your friend?
I’m sure there’s a serious reason behind it,” Lucius replied.
“Whatever the reason is, I’m not a gangster like you and your men!” Roderick retorted.
“I hate it, Uncle.
Stop them, or I’ll file a case against Roger and Aiden!” His voice shook with anger.
Lucius sighed deeply, sensing the gravity of the situation as he pinched the skin between his brows.
“Turn the phone on speaker,” he instructed, his hand slipping into the pocket of his trousers.
Roderick complied, switching the phone to speaker mode before turning to face Roger.
“Stop it, Roger,” Lucius’s voice thundered through the phone that made Roger’s fist halt mid-air.
He immediately released Maxwell’s collar, causing the young man to stumble and collapse onto the floor, who began coughing profusely.
“Boss?” Roger and Aiden called out in unison.
“Maxwell hired a gangster to harm your nephew, Boss,” Aiden quickly explained, justifying their actions.
Roderick’s tone hardened in the background.
“Even so, there’s no need for unnecessary violence.
I’ve told you before.
I hate these methods.
And I don’t want this fucking protection!” Roderick snapped, his face flushed with anger.
Lucius ignored his outburst and continued giving instructions.
“Lock Maxwell in the base and send Roderick back home safely.
Do you hear me?” “Understood, Boss,” Roger replied.
“What?
Don’t lock Maxwell!” Roderick shouted, his voice echoing in the background.
“It’s necessary,” Lucius replied firmly.
“I’ll be there in the evening to sort out the matter.
Treat his friend’s wounds, Roger, and don’t raise your hand on him again until I arrive.” “Uncle, that’s not how you should-” “Rick,” Lucius interrupted, “no one can harm you, not even your so-called friends.
I’m not a ‘regular gangster,’ for your knowledge.
I can’t and won’t risk your life.
Even if you hate my methods, I won’t go easy on those who try to hurt you.
Don’t worry-I won’t kill your friend.” Roderick fell silent, his lips pressed into a tight line.
“Aiden,” Lucius continued, “don’t be harsh on Rick.
Relay the same to Roger.” With that, Lucius ended the call and returned to the restaurant, where Layla was waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Roderick shot a withering glare at Roger and Aiden, his frustration simmering beneath the surface.
Without another word, he stormed outside toward his bike.
“I’ll go after him,” Aiden said to Roger.
“You should handle everything as the Boss instructed.” Roger nodded, albeit reluctantly, while Aiden jogged after Roderick.
