Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 279
Chapter 279: Let’s play a game Chapter 279: Let’s play a game Layla dabbed the napkin across her lips, her eyes flickering briefly to Lucius as he settled the bill.
Once outside the restaurant, they slid into the car and began their journey to Rome.
Layla broke the silence with inquisitiveness tone.
“What was the call about?
Roderick looked pretty upset.” Lucius exhaled deeply.
“Rick’s so-called friend hired a gangster to harm him,” he revealed.
“Roger and Aiden stepped in and took matters into their own hands, which didn’t sit well with Rick.” Layla’s brows furrowed in confusion.
“Why would his friend do something like that?
And why didn’t they report it to the police?” Lucius glanced at her.
“We don’t involve the police in these kinds of issues.
Even if they step in, those gangsters are back on the streets in no time.
It’s easier to deal with them…
our way.” “The mafia way?” Layla quipped, her brow arching.
“Exactly.
Rick hates it.
I get where he’s coming from, but he doesn’t fully grasp the severity of the situation.
His life was at stake.
I told Aiden to detain his so-called friend until I arrive,” Lucius stated firmly.
“You’re going to handle it the brutal way, aren’t you?” Layla muttered, a note of disapproval in her voice.
“You know Rick doesn’t condone violence.” Lucius let out a low chuckle.
“You can’t sweet talk gangsters or mafias into submission, Layla.
They only understand one language.” Layla leaned closer, her breath warm against his ear, her lips just shy of brushing his earlobe.
“I know,” she murmured, her voice dropping to a teasing whisper.
“But I can sweet talk you.” Lucius tilted his head slightly, his brows rising as a smirk tugged at his lips.
“Here?
Are you suggesting-” “No,” Layla cut him off, pulling back with a mischievous grin.
“Sit straight.” Lucius chuckled, running a hand through his dark hair.
“You’re my death, wife.
Is this way you are going to wake up my–” he couldn’t finish off as Layla pressed a finger on his lip.
“The driver is also in the car,” Layla said in a low voice before pulling her finger back.

She looked out of the window after settling back on her place while Lucius couldn’t contain his smile, so he darted his eyes at her.
~~~~~ “Let me go!” Maxwell shouted, his voice echoing through the empty cell block as he slammed his hands against the cold iron bars.
The loud clang reverberated through the space, but there was no response.
His chest heaved as he turned to glare at the two gangsters sitting inside his cell, their expressions sheepish and tense.
They had failed him, and his anger was palpable.
“Hey, you two!” he barked.
“Can’t you idiots do anything right?
How hard is it to be cautious?” The gangsters exchanged nervous glances but remained silent.
Maxwell’s fury only grew.
“And where the fuck is your leader?” he demanded as he stepped toward them.
“He assured me he wouldn’t be caught!
Said he had everything under control!
So why am I the one locked up here while you two sit here like clueless fools?” One of the gangsters finally cleared his throat and spoke with a slight hesitation in his voice.
“We don’t know how are we being caught.
Things didn’t go as we had planned.” “Didn’t go as planned?” Maxwell mocked, his lips curling into a sneer.
“You think that’s an excuse?
If he doesn’t get me out of here soon in one piece, I swear I’ll make all of you regret the day you crossed me!” The gangsters flinched but remained rooted to the spot, unable to meet his furious gaze.
Maxwell let out a frustrated growl, pacing his cell like a caged animal.
The faint sound of footsteps echoed through the empty hall, drawing the attention of Maxwell and the two gangsters.
All three of them moved closer to the bars, their anticipation rising as two men emerged from the shadows.
Without a word, one of them unlocked the cell.
Maxwell wasted no time, stepping out quickly with the gangsters following close behind.
He dusted off his shirt, his frustration bubbling over into anger.
“If Dad finds out that I’ve been locked up here, you all are going to be in real prison!” he barked.
But his bravado faltered the instant his eyes landed on Lucius, who stood in the center of the large hall.
Lucius’s imposing presence was amplified by the casual ease with which he carried himself, one hand tucked into the pocket of his long coat.
His sharp gaze pierced through Maxwell, rendering him speechless.
“Boss,” Aiden spoke up, breaking the tense silence.
He gestured toward Maxwell.
“He’s the one who wanted to hurt Roderick.” “That’s not true!” Maxwell blurted, his voice trembling.
“I-I just wanted to…” His words caught in his throat as Lucius began to move toward him.
Maxwell’s pulse quickened, and he instinctively took a step back, his courage draining with every inch Lucius closed between them.
Lucius stopped just a few feet away, his piercing eyes fixed on Maxwell, who was now visibly quivering.
“Go on,” Lucius encouraged him in a dangerously low voice.
“You just wanted to…
what?” “Uncle…
It’s just…
I-I…” Maxwell stammered, his voice barely audible as fear took hold.
Lucius didn’t give him the chance to finish.
His hand shot out, grabbing Maxwell by the collar, yanking him closer.
Lucius raised a pistol, pressing the barrel firmly beneath Maxwell’s chin.
“Want to play a game?” Lucius asked, his voice calm but menacing, his dark eyes boring into Maxwell’s.
Maxwell’s knees nearly buckled.
He shook his head frantically.
“Please forgive me!
Rick angered me!
He was humiliating me, so I just wanted to teach him a lesson!
I-I am sorry.
Please…
Please!” His voice broke, and tears spilled down his face as he begged for mercy.
Lucius’s expression remained icy.
“Forgiveness?” he echoed mockingly, his grip tightening on Maxwell’s collar.
“You should’ve thought about who you were trying to hurt before you acted, kid.” His voice grew darker.
“I don’t have any intention of forgiving you.” Without warning, Lucius grasped Maxwell’s hand and forced it toward the pistol.
“Let’s see if you’re brave enough to hold it,” he said coldly, pressing the young man’s trembling fingers around the weapon.
Maxwell violently shook his head, his body trembling as he tried to pull his hand away.
“No!
Please, no!” he cried out, struggling against Lucius’s firm grip.
“I don’t want to!
Please, Uncle!
I’ll never do anything again.
I swear!” Lucius tilted his head, his lips curling into a cold smirk.
“Swearing means nothing to me,” he said quietly.
“You wanted to teach Rick a lesson, didn’t you?
Now, let’s see if you’re ready to face your own.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Light_ray Check out my new book!
