Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 283
Chapter 283: My comforting person Chapter 283: My comforting person Ivy reluctantly pulled away first, lifting her gaze to meet his.
Her eyes fluttered shut for a brief moment as his fingers grazed her cheek, tenderly tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
“You should get some sleep,” Roderick murmured as he withdrew his hand.
Ivy offered a faint hum in response, her lips curving in a subtle, bittersweet smile.
Turning on her heels, she disappeared into the bedroom, leaving him behind.
Closing the door gently, she leaned against it, her chest rising and falling as if trying to steady her thoughts.
The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of the bedside lamp casting faint shadows on the walls.
Her gaze wandered across the space before she pushed herself away from the door and made her way to the washroom.
The sound of running water filled the silence as she freshened up, splashing cool water over her face in an attempt to silence the flutter in her chest.
Dressed for bed, she climbed under the covers, but sleep didn’t come.
Her thoughts lingered on Roderick-his soft touch, the unspoken emotions in his gaze.
Curiosity got the better of her, tugging her from the comfort of the bed.
With cautious movements, she pushed the door open, slipping out barefoot while being careful not to make a sound.
Her eyes scanned the room, and there he was.
Roderick sat on the floor near the window, watching the rain pouring.
His knees were drawn up, and his arms wrapped loosely around them, his head tilted back as if lost in thought.
Ivy hesitated for a moment before walking over to him.
She lowered herself to sit beside him.
“Why aren’t you asleep?” Roderick tilted his head toward her, a slight frown creasing his brow.
“I couldn’t fall asleep,” Ivy admitted, her gaze shifting from him to the room cloaked in shadows.
“Are you planning to sit here the entire night like this?” “Maybe,” he murmured.
Her eyes settled on him, a flicker of concern softening her features.
“If you’re having trouble sleeping, I could help you fall asleep,” she offered gently.
Roderick raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by her offer.
“How exactly?” “I’ll… I’ll caress your arm until you drift off to sleep,” Ivy replied.
For a moment, he simply stared at her, disbelief flickering in his eyes before it melted into something playful.
“You’re suggesting we share a bed?” he teased, the corner of his lips quirking into a sly smile.
Her cheeks heated at his words, but she held his gaze.
“Th-That’s not what I meant!” Ivy stammered, her voice tinged with frustration.
“You’re such a player, always thinking about sex and twisting my words!” She let out the sentence in a single breath, but just a moment later, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.

Roderick leaned back slightly, a chuckle escaping his lips before it grew into a full-blown laugh.
Ivy’s confusion turned into irritation as she watched him.
Without thinking, she swatted his shoulder.
“Stop laughing!” she demanded, though the way he grinned only made her more flustered.
Finally calming his laughter, Roderick’s tone shifted, his voice taking on a teasing seriousness.
“You walked into this suite by yourself, Ivy.
If anyone’s giving signals, it’s you.
Maybe you’re the one who wants it.” Ivy’s jaw dropped as her cheeks burned a deeper shade of red.
“That’s not what I meant!” she protested, her voice rising slightly.
“It-it was a slip of the tongue!” “Mm, is that so?” Roderick drawled, his gaze locking onto hers, amusement flickering in his eyes.
He leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear as he whispered, “That’s strange… I don’t believe you.” “I’m heading to bed,” Ivy mumbled as she tried to avoid his piercing gaze.
She didn’t want to stay near him any longer, not when her heart was racing uncontrollably.
But as she attempted to stand up, Roderick’s hand shot out, gripping her wrist and pulling her down onto his lap.
Her breath hitched, caught in her throat, as the sudden proximity sent a jolt through her.
Her fingers curled into small fists, her palms pressed against his chest as she tried to steady herself.
The heat of his body, so close to hers, made her pulse race even faster.
“I think I want to sleep with you,” Roderick whispered.
Ivy’s eyes widened in shock, her heart skipping a beat.
A deep blush spread across her cheeks, painting them a vivid hue of red as her gaze darted away from his.
She tried to summon a response, but her words failed her, her lips parting slightly in disbelief.
“Roderick,” she finally managed to whisper, her voice shaky, “stop saying things like that.” But his smirk only deepened, his eyes gleaming with mischief as he leaned in closer, their faces mere inches apart.
“Why?
Does it make you nervous, Ivy?” Ivy gulped hard, her breath faltering when she felt Roderick’s calloused finger lift her chin.
“You shouldn’t have walked in here,” he teased her more.
“You’re suddenly being soft with me.
Is it because you’re falling for me?” He arched a brow, his smirk challenging her.
“No,” Ivy replied quickly but her face betraying her flustered state as she turned her head away.
Her eyes landed on the window, where the rain fell steadily, shimmering against the glow of the city lights.
“It’s cold here.
If you don’t leave now, you might catch a cold,” she added.
She expected him to let her go and leave, but instead, Roderick stood up, holding her firmly in his arms.
Ivy’s breath hitched as her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck for support.
“Rick, what are you doing?” she asked with nervousness as she gazed up at him.
“Taking you to the bedroom,” he replied smoothly, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“After all, you said you wanted to sleep together.” “That’s not what I meant!” Ivy protested, but her words were ignored as Roderick carried her effortlessly into the bedroom on the right.
Moments later, she found herself placed gently on the mattress, her heart racing as Roderick loomed above her, his smirk never faltering.
“We don’t love each other,” Ivy said.
“Fine, I’ll go home.
I’ll book a cab and-” Her words faltered and died in her throat as Roderick placed a gentle finger against her lips, silencing her.
“It’s already late,” he said softly, his calm tone soothing the turmoil in her chest.
“You’ve already informed your parents that you’re staying.
Leaving now isn’t the best idea.
So, let’s just spend the rest of the night together.” His words carried a quiet authority, and before Ivy could respond, Roderick leaned down and tugged the duvet up, draping it over her snugly.
The tender gesture caught her off guard, leaving her speechless.
“Stay there,” he murmured, his gaze meeting hers briefly before he straightened up.
“I’ll join you in bed in a while.” Without waiting for her reply, Roderick turned and made his way toward the washroom, leaving Ivy lying on the mattress, her heart racing yet oddly comforted by his presence.
Soon, Roderick was in the room.
His shirt was half-way buttoned down, revealing his chest entirely in the soft glow of a lamp.
Ivy’s eyes remained glued on him until he was in bed, just next to her.
Ivy turned her back to him, her hand pressed against her chest as though it could calm the rapid pounding of her heart.
The sound of her heartbeat echoed loudly in her eardrums.
Finally, his deep voice broke through the tense silence between them.
“You said you’d caress my arm and put me to sleep,” he reminded her with amusement.
Ivy swallowed hard, silently scolding herself.
‘Why am I even nervous?
I don’t have the slightest feelings for him.’ With that thought, she turned to face him with a composed expression.
Slowly, she reached out, her fingers brushing against his arm before she began caressing it gently.
“Close your eyes,” she instructed, her voice softer than she intended.
Roderick complied without hesitation, his lashes fluttering shut as her hand moved rhythmically along his arm.
Minutes passed in silence, his breathing gradually evening out.
When she finally glanced at him, she realized he had fallen asleep.
Carefully, Ivy tried to slip out of the bed carefully to avoid waking him.
But just as she began to move, Roderick’s hand shot out, his fingers curling around her wrist and pulling her back toward him.
“You can’t escape tonight,” he whispered.
Her eyes widened as his gaze met hers.
“I won’t do anything to you,” he murmured, the corners of his lips lifting slightly.
“You’re not even my type.” The words should have annoyed her, but there was an odd warmth in his tone that made her pause.
“But,” he added, “you’ve become my comforting person.” With that, Roderick’s eyes closed again, his grip on her wrist loosening but not releasing it completely, leaving Ivy staring at him in disbelief, her heart skipping a beat once more.
