Chapter 287: Do you still like me?
Chapter 287: Do you still like me?
“Miss, please don’t create a scene here.
You too, Sir,” a staff member intervened, stepping between Sylvia and Josh.
“If you have personal matters to discuss, please take them outside.” Sylvia clenched her jaw.
She had no desire to prolong this argument in public, but she needed a way to rid herself of Josh.
Just as she turned to leave, her gaze landed on Roger, sitting quietly in the farthest corner of the café, seemingly lost in his own world.
An idea sparked in her mind.
She knew Roger had warned her to stay away from him, but at this moment, she didn’t care.
He was the perfect distraction, the perfect shield against Josh’s persistence.
Straightening her posture, she strode toward Roger.
Without hesitation, she stopped beside his table and said, “Roger, can we talk?”, breaking his serene moment.
Roger lazily lifted his head as he looked at her.
Then, with a slight tilt of his head, he replied coolly, “Sorry, but I don’t recognize you.” Sylvia’s brows furrowed, but the disbelief only lasted a moment before a chuckle slipped past her lips.
Flipping her hair over her shoulder, she scoffed and turned on her heels, her frustration evident.
Josh, still trailing behind her like a shadow, cast Roger a sharp glance before following after Sylvia.
Roger unfazed by her sudden appearance returned to his latte as if the brief interaction had never happened.
“How can she even talk to me?
And why do I encounter her like this?” he muttered in fury.
~~~ Sylvia halted beside her car in the parking lot, exhaling sharply as she turned to face Josh.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she gazed at him coldly.
The dim glow of the streetlights cast long shadows around them, adding to the tension in the air.
Josh stopped a few steps away from her.
“I liked you for a long time,” he began.
“And from my side, what happened last night was real.
It wasn’t just a moment for me-it meant something.
You wanted it too.” He studied her neutral face, hoping to see any emotion that would match his.
“You even said you wanted to give me a chance,” Josh continued, his tone softening, almost pleading.
“Then why are you acting like this all of a sudden?” “I was not sober last night, Josh.
And I never liked you.
About the chance, I’m not even sure.
I remember correctly I asked you if you are interested in sleeping with me.
You should have known that I was never serious about you,” Sylvia stated, not caring for his feelings.
Josh wryly laughed to hear that.
“You aren’t serious, are you?” he asked again, clearly hurt.
“I am serious.
If you don’t want to believe it, then it’s your fault,” Sylvia said and turned to open the car’s door but Josh slammed it shut.
“Josh, move away,” Sylvia said sternly, turning to look at him.
“Why are you like this?
You were same in high school days and your attitude didn’t change even after losing everyone.
You are all alone, but you still throw that same attitude at the people around you.
You consider yourself a goddess, don’t you?” Josh stared into her eyes in anger.
“So what?
Do you have a problem with my attitude now?
If you don’t want to get hit, then leave,” Sylvia warned him.
“Do you sleep with any random guy?
That man, who was in the rooftop cafe of this hotel, you slept with him too, didn’t you?
That’s why you were trying to drag him between us, weren’t you?
Answer me, God dammit!” Josh slammed his hand hard on the door of Sylvia’s car.
“It shouldn’t matter to you whom I slept with or not,” Sylvia said.
“It matters.
I told you I’ve feelings for you,” Josh yelled at her.
Sylvia shut her eyes and as she opened them, Josh cupped her cheek to forcefully kiss her.
She moved her head away, hitting his chest.
“Stop it, Josh!
Do-don’t!” She struggled to free herself from his grip but his hold was too tight on her.
He kissed her forcefully whole Sylvia rendered helpless in such a situation.
Just then, a strong hand pulled on Josh’s jacket from behind.
“What the f–” Josh turned to check who was doing it when a hard punch landed on his perfect face.
“You can’t kiss anyone forcefully!” Roger barked at him, holding Josh tightly with the collar of his shirt and threw another strong punch on his face.
Sylvia, on the other hand, felt her breathing turning shallow.
She felt her legs getting weaker and tears in her eyes blurred her vision.
Josh couldn’t stand against Roger’s mere two punches and begged him to let him go.
Just then, Roger heard Sylvia’s faint voice.
He shoved away Josh with a strong push and turned to check on Sylvia.
Roger found her dropping to the floor.
“Sylvia!” he patted her cheek with his gloved hand.
He quickly carried her in his arms and rushed her to his car in which he had come.
He picked up the water bottle from the backseat and sprinkled a few drops on her face.
Sylvia opened her eyes, she heard Roger’s soft voice, “Take deep breaths.” Sylvia followed his instructions and even drank water from the water.
“Do you feel better?
Should we go to the hospital?” Roger asked her.
“I want to go to my house,” Sylvia said in a low voice.
“Alright.” Roger quickly put on the cap on the water bottle and threw it in the backseat before settling into the driver’s seat.
Starting the engine, he drove to Sylvia’s house, the luxurious commercial residence.
Reaching her penthouse like apartment, Sylvia inserted the password on the door and walked in.
Roger hesitated first but he followed her inside, shutting the door behind him.
“You should have gone to the hospital,” Roger said.
“Why did you help me?” Sylvia asked, turning to look at him.
For the first time in so many years Roger saw tears in her eyes.
Or should he say he saw those tears only on the day when Matteo’s last rites were being performed?
“Don’t sleep with any random guy.
You can’t handle everyone.
I’ll inform Zayne regarding this incident.
You should lodge a complaint against him for molesting you,” Roger said and turned on his heels to leave.
He didn’t answer her the question she had asked him.
“Do you still like me?” Sylvia asked.
“No.
I’ll prefer dying than liking you,” Roger replied coldly and walked out of her sight.
