Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 301
Chapter 301: Love isn’t my thing Chapter 301: Love isn’t my thing Everyone was gathered in the living hall.
Roderick was the first one to ask, “How come nothing happened to Aiden?” “Because they were scared of me,” Lucius said.
“Really?
Then, why did they even kidnap Aiden?
I am not getting anything.
What actually happened in Russia?” asked Roderick.
Lucius began explaining, “Well, there is a mafia group, who wanted my help.
They felt that I would not be interested in joining their hands and helping them in their work if they directly communicated to me.” He took a brief pause before continuing, “You can see that Aiden didn’t get a single scratch.
They just wanted my cooperation, nothing more.
We were troubled for no reason.” “Then, did you join their hands, Boss?” Roger inquired.
“Yeah, we made a deal,” Lucius replied.
“Don’t tell me it will be something illegal,” Layla intervened.
“No, it won’t be.
I’ve clarified to them my terms.
They only need some of my contacts.
Don’t worry about it,” Lucius stated.
Aiden was shocked seeing the way Lucius was speaking the lie in front of everyone.
He didn’t even want to imagine the pain that had been hiding behind those lies.
However, he remained quiet for the sake of Lucius.
“Uncle, you should not stay involved in that world,” Roderick said with a concerned gaze.
“I agree with Roderick,” Layla pronounced.
“I hope you leave that world soon after finding your answers,” she asserted, a flicker of concern reflected in her eyes.
“You all worry too much,” Lucius muttered and smiled.
“Nothing is going to happen,” he said confidently.
“I am hungry.
We should eat.” Lucius was the first one to head to the dining room.
“Why does it seem like Uncle is hiding something?” Roderick murmured.
He glanced at Aiden, who looked relaxed too.
‘Maybe I am thinking too much,’ he thought.
~~~~ After breakfast, Roderick shared with Lucius about Seraphina.
“What?
She is out!?” Lucius was bewildered to learn that.
“Yeah.
Zayne said someone strong is behind her release,” Layla replied with a frown.
“Even my Dad didn’t know about this.
We will investigate today,” she stated.
“I will look into it.
I remember you have some important meetings today.
Take Roger with her.
Aiden needs some rest,” Lucius asserted.
“I can come with you, Uncle,” Roderick volunteered.
“No.
Focus on the project.
Demitri will come with me,” Lucius asserted.
“Okay,” Roderick pouted his lips.
“I don’t want any of you to get involved in anything dangerous,” Lucius told them.
He wondered if Vladimir was involved in Seraphina’s release.
His fists tightened just at that thought.
Rising to his feet, he extended his hand for Layla.
“Come, I’ll see you off till the car,” he said with a smile.
“I can go too,” Layla said, feeling a bit shy.
“Let me do the honor.
I like it when I do things like this for my wife,” Lucius remarked.
She held his hand and he pulled her up.
Together, they walked out of the dining room.
The maid had already brought Layla’s purse in the living room.
Lucius carried it for her and dropped it next to her seat in the car’s backseat.
“Roger, don’t keep your eyes away from Layla,” Lucius instructed him.
“Yes, Boss.” Lucius recalled Tsar’s words about harming Layla, but what he knew was that Vladimir had a soft spot for him, so he would not let Tsar hurt Layla.
He didn’t want Layla’s work to be hampered because of him and it was his way to protect her.
‘After six days, I will no longer be seeing her like this.
How will I live?’ Lucius’s eyes turned misty and he looked up at the sky.
‘Why do I deserve this?’ he questioned heaven.
“Uncle, I am leaving too.” Roderick descended the stairs, reaching his own car.
“Sure.” Lucius passed a smile to him.
As Roderick opened the door to get in, he stopped and glanced at Lucius.
“Layla was sick last night.
You should get her checked.
I think she’s taking too much stress,” he informed Lucius.
“What?
Layla got sick!?
What happened to her?” Lucius’s heart pounded in fright.
“She vomited last night.
Sometimes stress upset your stomach.
It’s sad that I can’t take care of her anymore, but when I used to date her, she would get such symptoms many times because of the stress.
So, you better take Layla to the hospital once her meetings finish,” Roderick advised him.
“Thank you for telling me,” Lucius said and took a few steps back.
Roderick got into the car and left for the company.
Lucius took out the phone from his pocket and called the renowned city hospital, booking an appointment for Layla’s checkup.
As he ended the call, his eyes flashed on the message on the screen.
“Tsar, this side, younger brother.
I am in Italy.
So, you better do your work and contact me when you are finished.” “How dare he even address me as his brother!?” Lucius muttered.
But he couldn’t lose his control.
As he turned to go inside the mansion, his phone buzzed.
It was Tsar.
Lucius just stared at that number for a moment before answering, “Don’t disturb me.
For six days just stay out of my life.” “I called you to warn you.
Dad loves you a lot.
But I am the opposite of him.
Love isn’t my thing.
I just kill when someone tries to act smart,” Tsar threatened from the other side.
“Did you free Seraphina?” Lucius asked with a frown, sliding his hand inside his pocket.
“Yes.
How would I have kidnapped Aiden then?” Tsar said from the other side.
“Roger and Aiden aren’t meant to be bodyguards.
You have been raising idiots, instead of tigers, brother.
But it’s fine.
I will teach you how to raise tigers once you’ll be in Russia,” Tsar stated.
“Also, tell your dear father-in-law to stay out of this matter.
He went to meet Seraphina.” Before Lucius could ask, Tsar hung up the call.
He wanted to block Tsar’s number, but his hands were tied.
He couldn’t do it.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Lucius walked inside the mansion.
