Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle - Chapter 312
Chapter 312: A terrible liar Chapter 312: A terrible liar “Father, when you knew about it you should have told Lucius about it.” Layla’s voice carried her shock and disbelief that Alekis kept such a big truth from Lucius all this time.
“That was to protect him, Layla,” Alekis replied.
“Did you not see how desperately Vladimir wanted Lucius back?
He had already made up his mind to leave us, to abandon you, and to join Vladimir’s side.
Evelina and I agreed long ago that keeping him away from that truth was the only way to keep him safe.” “Father, but you should have told him how dangerous his real father was.
Lucius was open to the mafia world at a tender age.
You should have told him the real reason why you never wanted him to be a part of that world.
Tell me if Brother Antoine also knew about this?” Layla inquired.
Alekis didn’t respond immediately.
He slowly nodded his head.
“Antoine knew about it,” he admitted.
“This isn’t right, Father.
You all lied to him.
You kept him in the dark for years, and now-now he’s shattered.
He’s breaking apart because of the truth he was never prepared for!” “I wanted to protect him,” Alekis repeated, his voice quieter this time.
“Hiding the truth was the only way I knew how to do that.” Layla recalled his conversation with Lucius where he told her how he knew his real father was someone untouchable.
“What’s your theory on Brother Antoine’s death?” Layla asked.
She wasn’t supposed to touch this topic, but she felt something was odd about it too.
“Layla, let’s not speak about it,” Alekis said and brushed past her.
But Layla stopped him.
“Father, tell me.
I want to heal Lucius.
Only I can do that.
No matter how harsh the truth is, I must know about it.
Please.
I want to turn everything fine, including Roderick’s and Lucius’s relationship,” Layla requested him.
Alekis’s will power crumbled to keep the truth hidden.
He turned to gaze at Layla.
“Lucius will find out the truth once his mother comes here.
He has called Evelina to Rome,” he said and went inside.

Layla remained standing there.
“I hope Brother Antoine’s death isn’t related to all of this,” she murmured, her eyes blinking rapidly in worry.
“Will Lucius remain the same man as he was before?” Her worry grew for her husband as a strange feeling again occupied her heart.
~~~~~~ Lucius finally arrived home, his eyes carried nothing.
Everyone looked at his tired expression and left their seats in concern.
“Until Vladimir is caught no one is supposed to go out and without any security.
I don’t want any argument on this,” Lucius instructed all of them.
His eyes stopped at Alekis, he had many questions to ask from him, but he kept them for later.
“And I want to thank all of you for catching Tsar.
I will go upstairs now,” Lucius said, “Layla, come with me.” He extended his hand for her, which she grasped.
The two of them went upstairs while the others decided to go to their assigned rooms within the mansion.
Layla pulled back her hand from Lucius’s grip and hugged him from behind.
“Matteo wanted to protect me from them.
He refused to tell them about me.
That’s why he died.
I almost killed Tsar, but Luca stopped me.” Lucius broke down into tears as he stared at a blank wall.
“I didn’t see an inch of remorse in Tsar’s eyes.
He was smiling as if he achieved something big.” “Matteo must be at peace now,” she whispered.
“You don’t have to stain your hands with blood, Lucius.
We finally caught Tsar.
Justice will be served.” But Lucius remained silent, staring at the wall, lost in the darkness consuming him.
Layla held on to him tightly.
“Are you still not happy?” she asked after a moment.
Lucius let out a slow breath, his voice barely above a whisper.
“I feel lost, Layla… lost in so many things.” His gaze was heavy with unspoken burdens as he wiped away the lingering tears from his eyes.
Then, turning to her, his expression softened.
“When I lost hope, you held onto it for me.” His voice trembled slightly, laced with gratitude and disbelief.
“Why are you like this?
How can you love me this much, Layla?
Even when I didn’t trust you… you still had faith in me.” He let out a small, almost bitter chuckle before continuing.
“And you know what’s strange?
The thing that makes me happy right now is knowing that you believed in me all along.” He took her hands in his own in his warm grip, before bringing them to his lips.
He pressed a tender kiss to her knuckles, lingering for a moment as if drawing strength from her touch.
Layla smiled, her fingers curling slightly around his fingers.
“Because I couldn’t let myself be swept away in this chaos,” she murmured.
Then, tilting her head slightly, she added with a knowing look, “And you, my love, are a terrible liar.” Lucius blinked in surprise before a wry smile ghosted his lips.
“Your eyes always betray you,” she continued, tapping a finger lightly against his chest.
“No matter how much you try to hide things from me, they always give you away.” A quiet chuckle rumbled in his chest.
“Hmm.
You’re right,” he admitted, shaking his head.
“I could never be a good liar when it comes to you.” Layla leaned closer, her expression playful yet filled with warmth.
“So, did you like how cool your wife is?” she asked, her face brimming with pride.
Lucius let out a soft laugh, shaking his head in amusement.
He cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin.
“I am astonished.
You worked like a queen.
A strong queen, who isn’t afraid of anyone,” he said.
“Tell me where do you plan to take me for the vacation after all of this ends?” Layla asked while pouting her lips.
“Wherever you wish to go, Layla,” he said.
“Then, let’s go to Switzerland after your father is caught.
You and I will spend a month there.
How about that?” Layla asked him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I promise I’ll take you there and we will spend a month there,” Lucius said with a positive hope reflecting in his eyes once again.
