Chapter 322: Ending the game
“Lucius, I just received an important information. Vladimir is fleeing Russia. He’s en route to a private helipad,” Varya reported, her voice firm as she relayed the information from her trusted aide.
Lucius’s jaw tightened. “Then we don’t have time to waste.” He adjusted the twin guns holstered at his waist.
“There’s one issue,” Varya continued. “The helipad is deep inside a dense forest. If a fight breaks out, visibility and movement will be limited. It won’t be easy.”
Lucius pulled the black glove snugly over his left hand. “Noted. We stick to the plan. You and Roger will cover from behind. Luca and I will take the lead.”
Without another word, they strode out of the mansion. Outside, a convoy of black SUVs stood waiting, engines rumbling in anticipation. Without hesitation, they climbed in, and the moment the doors shut, the drivers started the engines. One by one, the vehicles peeled out onto the road, racing toward the helipad to intercept Vladimir before he could escape.
“Move fast,” Varya instructed the driver as she looked at the location of Vladimir in her device. “Lucius, we have been after Vladimir for a long time. How did you manage to leave a tracking device there?” she asked, looking quite impressed.
“Well, I’ve been in this business for a long time,” Lucius explained in a calm tone. “I didn’t want to take any chances, so I left a device, which my friend created, in Vladimir’s car. It allows access to locations not visible on regular maps.”
“And how did you know it was Vladimir’s car?” Varya inquired.
“During the time I left with Aiden, I saw two men discussing about taking Vladimir out in the car. I cleverly planted the device in the car when they weren’t looking at me,” Lucius asserted.
Roger shot him a sharp glance from the front seat. “Boss, you never mentioned anything about this to us.”
Lucius exhaled, leaning back slightly. “Demitri couldn’t track the location the day I returned with Aiden, so I assumed the plan had already failed. But yesterday, he informed me that he managed to access everything after all.”
“That’s why you were so confident about catching Vladimir,” Luca remarked from his spot on the far left of the backseat, his eyes narrowing in understanding.
Lucius smirked slightly. “Exactly. No one can stop me from ending Vladimir today,” he muttered, looking out of the window. It was evening time and he knew it might take them the night to end the game of Vladimir.

Vladimir finally arrived at the secluded helipad and stepped out of the car. Dressed in a long coat and a wide-brimmed hat, he carried a leather bag in one hand, gripping it tightly. His two bodyguards flanked him, their eyes scanning the area as they moved toward the waiting helicopter, its blades already whirring in anticipation of takeoff.
‘Tsar, I need to get out of here first. Once I’m safe, I’ll make my move in Italy… And then, I will kill that insolent son of mine. He is a disgrace to my bloodline,’ Vladimir thought, his expression hardening.
Just as he took another step, the sharp crack of gunfire shattered the tense silence.
The bodyguards instantly drew their weapons, their muscles tensing as they positioned themselves to shield Vladimir. His breath hitched as he froze for a brief second, his mind racing. This place was supposed to be impenetrable. No one should have been able to breach the perimeter.
Yet, the gunshots kept ringing out.
Vladimir didn’t waste a second. Survival was important to him while the other questions in his mind could wait. Tightening his grip on the leather bag, he sprinted toward the helicopter.
“Vladimir, stop where you are!” Lucius’s commanding voice rang through the helipad.
Before Vladimir’s bodyguards could react, sharp gunfire echoed once again. Luca took them down in swift, precise shots, their bodies collapsing to the ground before they could even return fire.
The driver, realizing the situation, hastily raised his weapon, but Lucius was faster. Without hesitation, he pulled the trigger, a single shot hitting its mark. The driver slumped lifelessly against the car, his gun slipping from his grasp.
Vladimir’s breath came in short bursts as he reached the helicopter’s open door. As he was about to get into it, Lucius hit him with a bullet in the leg and Vladimir fell to the floor.
Luca swiftly took command, raising his weapon as he advanced toward the helicopter. Two precise shots rang out, and the pilot and the other man inside crumpled instantly.
Vladimir gasped for air, his body getting tense with panic. His fingers scrambled to pull the gun from the inner pocket of his coat, but he froze when he saw Lucius stood before him.
His gun aimed directly at his chest while his gaze was deviod of any emotion. Before Vladimir could react, Lucius lifted his boot and pressed it down hard on the wound in his right leg. A sharp, agonized scream tore from Vladimir’s throat as pain shot through his body.
“Lucius!” he roared, his voice filled with fury and disbelief. “How could you do this to your own father?”
“You aren’t my father,” Lucius said, his voice cold and final.
Meanwhile, Luca swiftly climbed into the helicopter, switching off the engine and silencing the blades. After ensuring no more threats were inside, he moved to check the car, but it was empty. There was no hidden reinforcements, no last-minute escape plan.

Lucius turned his glare back to Vladimir. “Vladimir, you’re the coward here. You couldn’t bring yourself to surrender, and instead, you let Tsar rot in prison while you ran like a rat.” His voice was laced with disdain.
Vladimir clenched his teeth. “You told me I could never be a true mafia leader if I chose a life where I was happily married and had a family. But you see,” he pressed his boot further onto his wound, “you were wrong, Vladimir Romanov. I pledged myself not to give up being a mafia until I kill the person who killed my brother, Antoine and Matteo.”
