Chapter 340: Never remember him again
Demitri took a sip of his hot coffee, savoring the warmth before lowering the cup. His gaze shifted to his grandmother, Alessia, who watched him with a stern expression.
“Why did you send Nora away without even letting me see her?” she complained with disappointment lacing her face.
Demitri sighed while rubbing his temple. “Grandma, I didn’t send her away. She left early this morning on her own. But don’t worry, she promised to visit you again sometime this week.”
Alessia narrowed her eyes. “That’s not enough. You should take her out on a second date.”
Demitri nearly choked on his next sip of coffee. He looked at her in disbelief, his brows lifting. “Grandma, are you serious?”
“Of course, I am,” she said, crossing her arms. “At this rate, I don’t know when you’ll ever settle down on your own, so I have to take matters into my own hands. You won’t find someone like Nora again, trust me.”
Demitri exhaled, already sensing where this was going.
“As a matter of fact,” Alessia continued with a triumphant smile, “I already spoke to her, and she agreed to go on a second date with you.”
Demitri blinked, stunned. “You… Did what?”
“You heard me, son,” Alessia repeated, her expression daring him to object.
Demitri sighed, shaking his head. He should’ve known his grandmother wouldn’t let this go so easily. “Grandma, Nora and I don’t want to date each other,” Demitri stated firmly, hoping to put an end to the conversation.
Alessia, however, was not one to back down easily. “But Nora said she’s interested in you,” she countered, watching him closely.
Demitri narrowed his eyes. “Don’t lie to me, Grandma.”
“Why would I lie to you?” she scoffed. “Nora told me herself that she likes you—as a person, at least. She just thinks you’re out of her league. She works as a receptionist, while you spend all day on that computer.”
Demitri sighed, already expecting her usual complaints.
Alessia huffed, shaking her head. “I even told her you do nothing but stay cooped up in the house all day. Maybe she can knock some sense into you.”
“Grandma, it’s better if you don’t push her in my way,” Demitri said and finished his coffee. As he stood up, he heard his grandmother.
“Demitri, I know your last girlfriend didn’t like the way you worked, but that doesn’t mean every other woman would be like her. For my sake, at least try–” Alessia couldn’t finish her sentence as Demitri cut off her words in the middle.
“Grandma, I appreciate for your concern. But in this matter, I don’t want to listen to you. I’ll cook the breakfast for us. The maid will be here soon,” said Demitri and headed to the kitchen.
Alessia sighed in defeat. “What’s wrong with this boy?” she mumbled.

Roderick pulled up outside Ivy’s house and leaned over to unlock the door from inside. As soon as she slid into the passenger seat, he waited for her to settle before driving off toward the venue she had chosen.
“Are you sure you want to attend your ex’s wedding?” Roderick asked, glancing at her briefly.
“Yeah,” Ivy responded, adjusting her clutch on her lap. “Elliot’s fiancée personally invited me.”
Roderick’s brow arched in curiosity. “Does she know that you and Elliot were together?”
“Yeah,” Ivy admitted, feeling heartbroken.
“Why are you even going there? You’re only going to hurt yourself,” Roderick said.
“I’m already broken, Rick,” Ivy murmured, staring out the window. “I just want to see how Elliot could move on so easily with Julie. I need to see for myself how fake his feelings for me were… so that after today, I’ll never remember him again.”
Roderick fell silent, her words stirring something deep inside him. His jaw clenched as an unsettling thought crept into his mind.
‘Did Layla feel the same way when she suddenly found out about me and Orabela?’

Roderick shook his head, pushing aside the unsettling thoughts, and focused on the road ahead.
After an hour, they finally arrived at the grand hotel where the wedding was taking place. Roderick pulled up to the entrance and stepped out first, making his way around the car to open the door for Ivy.
She took his extended hand firmly as she stepped out. Clutching her purse close, she took a deep breath to steady her nerves.
The chauffeur approached, and Roderick handed him the car keys without a word. They then walked into the hotel.
The grand hall was filled with elegantly dressed guests, laughter, and the soft hum of music playing in the background. Ivy and Roderick made their way through the crowd.
At the entrance, Ivy handed the invitation card to the usher. The man glanced briefly at Roderick, prompting Ivy to respond without hesitation, “This is my boyfriend.”
Roderick remained silent, playing along as the usher nodded politely. “Please, this way.” He guided them inside and led them to their designated table.
As soon as they were seated, Ivy’s gaze swept across the room, her throat tightening at the sight of the extravagant decorations, the joyous guests, and the looming presence of the wedding aisle. A lump formed in her throat, and before she could think twice, she reached for a glass of whiskey and downed it in one swift motion.
Roderick watched her closely, his expression unreadable. He could see it—she wasn’t just hurting; she was breaking all over again.
“Ivy,” he murmured, placing his hand gently over hers, which lay cold and trembling on her lap.
She turned to look at him, her eyes clouded with tears. “It could’ve been me and Elliot,” she whispered, a bittersweet smile tugging at her lips.
Roderick sighed, his thumb brushing against the back of her hand in comfort. “We should leave, Ivy,” he said softly. “You already know Elliot’s decision. Staying here will only hurt you more.”
Ivy, however, shook her head.
Roderick didn’t pressure her further and decided to stay there with her.
