Chapter 363: Truly fits you
Varya was taken aback when she spotted Roger at the airport. She quickly stood up from her chair, her brows furrowing in surprise.
Without preamble, Roger extended a paper bag toward her. “Here, this is for you.”
She looked at him, bewildered. “What’s this?”
“A small gift,” he said with a casual shrug. “It’s your first time in Italy, right? A souvenir is a must.”
Varya hesitated for a moment before accepting the bag. “Thank you. This means a lot,” she admitted before narrowing her eyes at him. “But don’t get any ideas—I’m not giving you any kind of signal by accepting this.”
Roger nodded. “Don’t worry. I don’t chase after women who reject me.”
Varya felt a pang of guilt, wondering if she had hurt his feelings. “I’m sorry, Roger,” she said softly. “But I think our worlds are just too different.”
“Yeah, I know,” Roger replied, his tone calm and accepting. Then, with a small smile, he added, “Thank you for helping us in Russia. Without you, taking down the Romanovs would’ve been a lot more difficult.”
Varya gave a small nod. “I’m glad I could be of help.”
Just then, the announcement for her flight to Moscow echoed through the terminal. She took a deep breath. “I have to go.”
Roger gave her a curt nod. “Yeah. Sure. Have a safe journey.”
Varya smiled one last time before grabbing the handle of her trolley bag and walking toward the check-in entrance. Roger watched as she disappeared into the crowd before taking a few steps back and exiting the airport.
As Roger settled into the passenger seat, he let out a heavy sigh, leaning his head against the headrest.
Aiden, already in the driver’s seat, glanced at him briefly. “I’m not even going to ask.”
“Good,” Roger muttered. “I’m sad.”
Aiden simply shrugged and started the engine. “Noted.”
Roger exhaled slowly, tilting his head to the side. “She asked me to go to Russia with her if I really wanted this relationship.” His voice was low, thoughtful. “But I don’t want to leave Italy. And I get it… I understand her. I guess we were never really meant for each other.”
Aiden kept his eyes on the road but responded with certainty. “Yeah. That’s why it didn’t work out. But don’t dwell on it too much—you’ll find someone who truly fits you, Roger. Just give it time.”
Roger let out a small chuckle, though it lacked amusement.

Demitri stepped into the elevator after attending an important meeting in the Tech Department. As the doors slid open, his gaze landed on Nora, who stood inside, holding a stack of files. He pressed the button for the first floor, letting the doors close behind him.
An awkward silence stretched between them. Unlike their usual exchanges, Demitri made no effort to acknowledge her presence. Sensing the tension, Nora decided to break it.
“Good afternoon,” she greeted, offering a polite smile.
“Hmm,” Demitri responded, barely glancing at her.
Nora shifted the files in her hands. “It’s surprising to see you at the office today,” she remarked, trying to keep the conversation going.
“I had to attend a meeting,” he replied with devoid of interest. After a pause, his gaze flickered to the files in her arms. “I didn’t know front desk staff were assigned to carry files now,” he added, his voice laced with mild curiosity.
“Sometimes,” Nora answered simply. She hesitated for a moment before gathering the courage to say what had been on her mind. “I wanted to thank you for that night.”
Demitri’s expression remained impassive. “It was nothing,” he said. “I would have helped anyone in your position.”
Nora lowered her eyes, realizing she had truly hurt him. Before she could further speak, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. Demitri exited it without giving a second glance to her.
She lingered in the elevator for a moment, exhaling softly before stepping out. Pushing aside the heaviness in her heart, she made her way toward the small office behind the front desk. Upon entering, she placed the files on the desk, trying to gather her thoughts.

A familiar voice broke her reverie.
“Here’s the application form for the front desk position at the hotel,” Brian said, handing her a neatly printed document.
Nora took it from him, her gaze scanning the contents.
“Sorry about that night,” Brian continued, his voice carrying an edge of regret. “I didn’t mean for my words to come off that way. I hope you’ve moved on to something better—maybe even a higher position.”
She lifted her eyes to meet his, surprised by his sincerity. A small, appreciative smile touched her lips.
“Thank you for your kind words, Senior,” she whispered. “But I wasn’t offended.” She glanced back down at the form. “I’ll fill this out. Thanks again.”
Brian gave her a small nod, watching as she turned her attention back to the application, lost in thought.
“If you’re free tonight, I’d like to treat you to dinner,” Brian said casually.
Nora blinked, caught off guard by the sudden invitation. She was free, but she couldn’t help but wonder why he wanted to take her out.
Sensing her hesitation, Brian quickly clarified, “I’m asking as a colleague. You’re new here, and as your senior, it’s my responsibility to make sure you feel comfortable.”
Nora studied him for a moment, weighing his words. He seemed genuine, and she had no reason to refuse.
“Alright,” she finally agreed.
A satisfied smile spread across Brian’s face. “Great. Let’s meet after work, then.”
She gave him a small nod in response. With that, he stepped back, flashing her one last friendly look before returning to his work.
Nora sat on the chair and took out the pen from her pocket to fill that form. Once done, she handed the form to Brian and headed out to the front desk to assist Aurelia.
Her eyes landed on Demitri, who was standing with Roger and Aiden, smiling lightly. ‘He didn’t leave,’ she thought. ‘So, they all are his friends. He keeps saying he’s not of high status, but look at his friend circle. All of them are seated on the top company’s position.’
