Chapter 368: Available for you
“Lucius, look at these handmade trinkets,” Layla said excitedly as they paused in front of a vendor’s stall. Her fingers brushed over the delicate pieces before picking up a keychain, and holding it up for him to see.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” she asked, her eyes gleaming under the soft glow of the Christmas market lights. Without waiting for his response, she reached for a pair of earrings crafted from tiny trinkets, admiring its intricate details.
“These pink ones will look beautiful on you,” Lucius said.
The lady at the stall gave them the hand mirror as Lucius held it for Layla. She checked on her ears and nodded her head. “You are right,” she said.
“We will take this pair and this keychain,” Layla told the lady. As she packed them, Lucius took out his wallet and paid for them, taking the tiny envelope from the lady.
“Thank you,” he said and they went ahead.
“I want to wear the pink pair of earrings,” Layla insisted.
“Don’t remove your gloves,” Lucius said. “It’s cold.”
“Then, how am I supposed to wear them?” Layla asked.
“I will help you,” Lucius opined. He removed his own gloves and put them inside his long coat’s pocket. He took out the pair of earrings from the tiny envelope. Layla’s eyes were glued to him with pure admiration. She was the luckiest woman in this world for having such a caring husband.
Lucius placed the earrings that Layla had originally worn on her palms and carefully put on the newly bought earrings on her ears one by one.
The passersby looked at them and smiled at the couple.
“It’s done,” Lucius said and pulled out his phone. He opened the front camera and put it before her face. Layla checked out her earrings and smiled.
“Wow! They look pretty. Thanks,” she whispered.
“A photo is a must,” Lucius suggested and asked her to stand there, gesturing to her to give him some poses. He clicked a few pictures and showed them to her.
“They turned out to be good. I must say if you weren’t a businessman, you would have been a professional photographer,” Layla pointed.
“But I would have been exclusively available for you only,” Lucius stated. He kissed her, not caring for the surroundings, but pulled away after a few seconds. “Let’s go ahead. We need to explore many more places in the market,” he murmured and held her hand.

Layla and Lucius returned late at night to their suite while holding a few bags in their hands. They had shopped for everyone in the family. Lucius took the bags from her and placed them on the table while she lay on the bed after removing her synthetic fur coat, which Aiden gifted on her birthday.
Sitting up, she gazed at Lucius, who was removing his heavy clothes.
“Did you talk to your father?” Layla questioned.
“Yes, in the morning. Why?” he asked, stopping at the third button of his shirt.
“I thought you forgot,” Layla replied. She took off her pullover and let it be on the mattress. “I feel sleepy,” she murmured and pulled out her socks. She put them into the shoes and pushed them under the bed.
“Then, go to bed. I’ll take a light shower,” Lucius said. He saw Layla struggling to pull up the heavy duvet, so he helped her and tucked her inside it.
Layla’s eyes were already half-closed. “Goodnight, Lucius. And thank you,” she murmured before drifting off to sleep. He caressed her hair gently and planted a soft kiss on the center of her forehead.
Pulling away, he stood straight and went to the washroom. After a while, he returned with a towel hanging around his neck. Layla was still asleep, in fact, she was in a deep slumber.
He checked his phone and saw a few messages from Roger.
Calling him, Lucius walked out of the room in silence and sat on the couch in the living area.
“Boss, why are you calling me at this hour?” Roger answered the call, looking shocked.
“Layla was tired, so she’s already asleep,” Lucius told him.

“Oh.”
“What happened?” Lucius asked him. “Did you fail to win over Varya?”
“Yes,” Roger sighed, leaning back on the recliner. “I’ll tell you everything once you return,” he asserted.
“Tell me now. I am not going to sleep right now,” Lucius said.
“Boss, she wanted me to accompany her to Russia. I felt that was too much. So, I refused. I mean… It wasn’t what I expected. If she had said that to meet her regularly, I might have understood. But asking to leave Russia forever wasn’t something I could,” Roger explained.
“Hmm. Varya loves her work. She isn’t going to leave it,” Lucius asserted.
“Boss, I don’t want to leave Italy,” Roger said from the other side. “This place holds lots of memories for me,” he stated.
“Hmm. Then, Varya wasn’t the one for you,” Lucius advised.
“Yeah, but I feel upset,” Roger whispered. “I think she was the one for me. I don’t know, Boss, I feel so confused,” he muttered.
“If this feeling persists, then you need to pursue Varya. You need to make the decision for your own life, my friend. I can only give your advice,” Lucius said with a tone of understanding.
“Hmm. You are right,” Roger replied.
“Layla and I will be returning tomorrow,” Lucius then informed him.
“I’ll pick you both up from the airport,” Roger stated. “Boss, we told Sylvia everything. Varya met her and told her a few things related to the operation to Sylvia. She was upset, but we just told her. Rest is up to her to decide.”
“Hmm. I’ll see her once,” Lucius stated.
“Boss, she will blame you. It’s better for you to avoid her,” Roger advised. He didn’t want Lucius to get hurt.
“I won’t mind her words. I know Sylvia is like that. But I need to see her once I’m back. You should go to bed now. I am hanging up,” Lucius said.
“Sure. Goodnight, Boss,” Roger said.
As the call disconnected, Lucius rested the phone on the table and looked outside the giant window.
