Chapter 388: Noelia and Lucien
Layla and Lucius returned home, deciding to postpone their visit to Aiden.

“I’ll visit him later in the evening,” Lucius told her as he guided her toward the bed, making her sit comfortably before placing her purse beside her.

As he poured a glass of water for her, Layla suddenly wrapped her arms around his waist, taking him by surprise. Her legs remained tucked to one side as she kept her face on his abdomen.

Lucius stood still for a second before setting the glass down on the bedside table. He gently placed a hand on her head, his fingers slipping into the strands of her hair with a soothing touch.

“Lucius, I am so happy. I can’t even put into words how overwhelming this joy is,” Layla murmured against him.

A soft smile tugged at the corners of Lucius’s lips. “I understand, Layla. I feel the same way,” he said, his voice laced with emotion. “We’re going to be blessed with a baby soon.” He stroked her hair gently, telling themselves the new person that would enter their lives soon.

For years, he had believed he would never have a family of his own. His mother’s cruelty had left him wary of love, of marriage, of the idea that happiness could truly last. He had feared that he might always be alone, until he met Layla. She changed everything. If he had to name the most beautiful thing that had ever happened to him, it would be her.

Layla slowly pulled back, her eyes shining with excitement. “Lucius, let’s decide the names for the baby. What do you think?”

He chuckled softly, shaking his head. “First, drink some water,” he insisted.

Smiling, Layla accepted the glass from him and took a few sips before setting it on the bedside table.

Lucius sat beside her, taking both of her hands in his. His thumbs drew circles over the back of her palms as he gazed at her with adoration.

“Layla,” he murmured, “this is a feeling I’ve never known before. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And I know you feel it too. We’ve been through so much together, fought battles side by side, and yet, here we are, stronger than ever.” He exhaled softly, his voice tinged with admiration for her. “Every fiber of my being is alive with happiness right now. Thank you for this new blessing in our lives. You are amazing, Layla. I just love you so much.”

He lifted one of her hands and kissed her knuckles tenderly, realizing how deep his love had gotten for her. They hugged each other, placing their hands on each other’s backs.

“I always say this our fates brought us together in the most beautiful way. We were always made for us each other. Now, this baby will strengthen our bond further, Lucius. I love you for giving me such a joyous feeling.” Her chin rested on his shoulder, holding him close to her.

After a moment, they both pulled away from each other. “I have two names in my mind. If a girl is born, then we can name her Noelia. But if there’s baby boy, then we can name him Lucien. What do you think?” she asked, her eyes shimmering in excitement.

“Noelia refers to Christmas while Lucien…”

“Carries the blend of our names. These are the names I’ve thought. Definitely we can change them. What is your suggestion on this?” Layla asked.

“I like the names,” Lucius replied.

“Ahh, don’t be like that,” Layla remarked.

“I swear, sweetheart, I liked the names,” he asserted. He cupped her face and showered kisses to her, making her giggle. She lost her balance to remain seated straight and fell to the mattress.

Lucius hovered over her, his hand remained on her cheek.

“It tickles,” Layla told him not to do it anymore. “I had to meet the Tech Manager today. I almost forgot about it,” she said, recalling it suddenly.

“I will tell Roger to tell Emilio to see you tomorrow,” Lucius said. “We aren’t going to the office anymore. By the way, did your nausea reduce? You got more nauseated when you found the aroma of a particular dish too strong, right?” he asked with a worried gaze.

“I feel better. I think the roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary triggered my nausea,” she replied.

“Hmm. I will tell the maids to keep this in mind,” Lucius remarked.

“It’s fine. Such a symptom is common in the pregnancy,” Layla said and reached out for her purse before sitting up. Taking her phone out, she said, “I want to call my mother.”

“Of course, call her. I’ll share this good news with Dad,” Lucius stated and took out the phone from his own pocket. He went to the balcony while Layla stayed in the bedroom.

As she dialed her mother’s number, her heart pounded in her chest. A few moments later, her call was answered.

“Layla,” Miriam called her name from the other side.

“Good afternoon, mom,” Layla greeted her.

“Good afternoon. How are you and Lucius doing?” Miriam asked.

“Mom, we are well. I have something to share with you,” Layla said with a slight hesitation in her tone.

“Hmm? What is it, dear?” Miriam inquired, listening to her patiently.

“Mom, I am pregnant,” Layla revealed the news to her.

“What? Oh my goodness! That’s such a big news, dear,” Miriam started laughing and smiling at the same time.

“Honey, our Layla is pregnant!” Miriam told Darius with a joyous tone.

Layla could feel the genuine happiness in their voices. Darius came on the call and congratulated Layla for sharing such a good news from them.

“We will visit you in the evening. That’s such a great news. Did you tell your in-laws?” Darius asked her.

“Lucius is talking with them,” Layla replied. “Let’s keep it within the family, Dad. I hope you both understand. I believe in evil eye and wants everything to go smoothly,” she added.

“Of course, Layla,” Miriam replied from the other side. “Take care of yourself. You have truly grown up so much, Layla. I am so happy that you will be a mother soon,” she asserted in a soft, affectionate tone.
