Chapter 99: To remove Orabela
Everyone present in the grand hall were shocked to hear the audio playing, which involved the conversation of Orabela and Seraphina from the prison.
[At least, you should have done everything in your capacity to take Layla’s life since you hate the very existence of hers… If you want to lessen your sentence, then tell in your statement that Layla asked you to lie. It was Lucius and her plan.]
A horrified gasp swept through the crowd as Orabela’s desperate scream broke the silence.
“No! Stop it! Who is playing this nonsense?” Her voice rang out, shaking with anger and fear. She shot a panicked look at her father, her expression pleading. “It’s not me, Dad,” she protested, her voice trembling. “Someone’s framing me!”
Desperately, Orabela turned her gaze toward Lucius, her eyes blazing with accusation. “This is your doing, isn’t it?” she shouted at him. “You’re trying to destroy me because I refused to stay silent, even after you threatened my life openly. Everyone here knows the kind of threats you make.” She pressed on with bitterness, attempting to shift the blame onto Lucius.
Layla clenched her fists, her brows furrowed together in worry as she looked at the gossiping people. So, this was the surprise Lucius was talking about. Exposing Orabela’s true face to everyone. She remembered the humiliation she used to face in Orabela’s presence all the time. But what hurt her the most was that her mother truly wanted to kill her.
As Orabela began hurling accusations at Lucius, attempting to shift the blame, Layla felt her restraint breaking. Her patience snapped, and Layla could no longer hold back her fury.
Just then, a voice echoed from the crowd, dry and unimpressed. “Looks like it’s time to leave this party. Seems more like a family drama than a celebration,” a middle-aged man remarked. Rising from his seat, he walked out, and one by one, others began to follow, casting judgmental glances at Orabela as they went.
Orabela stood frozen, her vision blurring with disbelief. The evening she had meticulously planned had unraveled into a public scandal, with her becoming the focus of every accusatory stare.
Lucius rose from his seat, his voice cold as he addressed the room. “I had hoped to celebrate my wife’s birthday in peace. I never intended to bring her here just to endure slander from someone who despises her so much that she even coerced Layla’s mother into lies. Quite the daughter you have, Darius,” he said, casting a final look at Orabela before turning to leave.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Darius hurried down from the stage, panic in his eyes. Miriam and Lady Agatha stood as well, clearly unsettled by the unfolding chaos.
Meanwhile, Roderick glowered in silent fury. He was regretting his decision badly for choosing Orabela as his fiancée.
“Lucius, please—let’s remain calm,” Roderick implored, desperation in his voice. He shot a pointed look at Orabela. “Apologize to Lucius,” he ordered, the command as sharp as a dagger.
But before Orabela could respond, Layla stepped forward, her confident strides cutting through the tension.
She stopped directly in front of her father. “Do you think an apology will fix everything, Dad?” she asked, turning to Orabela. “Your voice was clear in that audio. You were the one who clearly said in the audio why my mother failed in killing me,” she repeated. “Why did you have to meet her?”
“Layla, let’s talk about this at home,” he said quickly, dread lacing his tone. He feared that any further revelations could lead to a police investigation, one that would tarnish the Rosenzweig family’s reputation beyond repair. He felt Layla could be convinced once they would be home.
“I don’t intend to go home,” Layla said, her voice laced with bitter determination. “You’re defending her actions again, Dad,” she accused, her gaze sweeping over them all with a piercing intensity. “Why are all of you like this?”
Darius’s face hardened, though his tone was softer, almost pleading. “No one is defending her, Layla,” he insisted. “I just want this to be handled privately, within our family.”
Layla shook her head. “I don’t want to set foot in that house ever again,” she said coldly. Her gaze fixed on Orabela. “Why are you silent now? Tell me—what have I done that would make you want to frame me and Lucius like this? What was it, Orabela?”
Orabela’s face twisted, her mouth opening as if to answer, but no words came.
“It’s because you tried to claim what was mine from the beginning,” Orabela pronounced. “Whatever I said in the audio was true. You were an unwanted child, who wasn’t supposed to be born. You became the director because your evil mother made a mistake by keeping you alive,” she said.
“Bella, what are you saying?” Miriam looked at her with a shocking gaze.
“No one in the family wants you. What’s new in that?” Orabela further added.
Roderick came forward finally and asked Orabela to shut her mouth. “You are going to ruin everything,” he gritted his teeth at her.
“You stay out of this,” Orabela told him. Returning her gaze to Layla, she said, “The one who gave you birth doesn’t even want you, why do you expect others to accept you?”
Lucius took a step forward when Layla asked him to stop.
“Dad, did you hear now what she thinks of me? Do you think the same? I maybe an unwanted child, but I am the one, who will stop your family from getting ruined,” Layla said, she wasn’t affected with Orabela’s words because she had always been like this.
Never once she publicly accepted what kind of person she was, but today she did and this was what Layla wanted. That’s why she provoked Orabela.
“It’s the time we need to call the police,” Lucius said and gazed at Roger.

“Th-that’s not true,” Darius responded immediately and urged Lucius not to involve the police again. “It was my fault to never give you the same rights as Orabela. So, I’m ready to make up for that.”
“Then, you can do that now. You’ve yet to give me a birthday present, Dad. Why don’t you give it now?” Layla asked with a curious gaze.
“Don’t give her anything,” Orabela bitterly said.
“Stay quiet for the god sake,” Darius reprimanded her. Turning his attention to Layla, he asked, “What do you want?”
“I want you to remove Orabela for an indefinite time from the company. She will no longer run the business as the executive of the beauty brand she owns under Rosenzweig Group,” Layla stated with a smirk.
