Chapter 248: Chapter 247- Reunion
What were the chances that the God of Fate and Fortune—the one who watched over the ever-weaving threads of destiny—would notice when a long-forgotten thread suddenly reappeared?

Quite high.

Ever since the Great War, he had been quietly, relentlessly searching for that one particular thread—the thread that once belonged to his eldest son.

The strongest of them all.

He never accepted what Solaris had told him. That his firstborn had fallen. That a handful of Chaos dwellers had brought about his end.

It simply didn’t sit right with him.

And yet, Solaris had no reason to lie. The vast sea of fate threads had offered no contradiction either. The thread had vanished, its connection lost.

Veyra was gone.

Dead.

Still, he kept searching.

He couldn’t explain why, but deep inside, he felt it.

His son was out there. Wounded. Scarred. But not gone.

Maybe it was the sorrow that lingered in his wife’s eyes, quiet yet heavy, that pushed him to stare into the sea of threads each day without fail. Maybe it was hope, faint and fragile, yet persistent.

And then, it happened.

He saw it.

The golden thread—once the brightest of all, stronger than any immortal’s—had begun to shimmer again. It reawakened within the great sea of fate.

Alive.

Veyra was alive.

Somewhere in the mortal realm. But what startled him even more was the second thread—blindingly bright for a mere mortal—bound so tightly to Veyra’s that the two seemed fused, as if one soul held two lives.

Why?

Why would he, the mightiest of his Gods, tether himself to someone else to survive?

What had truly happened during the war?

What forced him to flee… and hide in the lower realm?

Thalor’s rage burned like a rising storm, but he clenched it back. He couldn’t risk shaking the heavens and endangering millions just to unleash his fury on Solaris.

His conscience held him back—but so did the threads.

Because they were moving.

The fates of the gods, their offspring… and Veyra—were drawing closer.

A reunion was coming.

It didn’t take him long to discern that their meeting point was the same place where mortals and immortals come into contact.

He knew he would meet Veyra there. And he was quite impatient about it.

However, he had to be patient and prepared.

Prepared to apologize and prepared to face the wrath of his wife.

…

Right now, Alex was in someone’s embrace.

A woman he had never met before—but somehow, she felt familiar.

His arms were gently wrapped around her back, as if it were the most natural thing to do.

His eyes were wet. Not because she was his mother—she wasn’t—but because something inside him recognized her warmth. His heart was racing, yet there was a strange calmness washing over him.

It felt like he had been fighting a silent war all his life… and now, he had finally found peace.

Alex had never known a feeling like this.

So full. So grounding. So painfully tender.

A voice echoed in his ears, soft and gentle—

[Alex.]

He closed his eyes and gave a quiet hum, acknowledging it.

He knew what had to be done.

Even though every part of him wanted to stay just a little longer, to hold on to that warmth… he knew it wasn’t truly his to keep.

This moment—this hug—belonged to someone else.

The real son of the woman.

With a breath that felt heavier than usual, Alex silently switched with the Curse, stepping aside so the rightful one could return.

“M-My child…” Her voice cracked as if it had forgotten how to speak his name after all these years. Her hands trembled, and her eyes—once so full of light—now overflowed with tears.

At that moment, across every world in the multiverse, the skies darkened and the rain poured endlessly. It wasn’t just water.

It was sorrow.

Mother Nature was crying—for the first time in eons.

Ever since she lost her son, she had held it all in. She had stayed strong for the world that still looked up to her. But now, with him in front of her, alive, breathing… she couldn’t hold back anymore.

Even Lumiera, who had witnessed countless emotions in her long life, felt her own chest tighten. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the heartbreaking scene.

A few gods stood nearby, their faces unreadable, like they were carved from stone. But inside? Their hearts were shaking. This moment wasn’t meant to happen. And yet, it had.

“My precious child…” she whispered again as if saying it could keep him from disappearing. She slowly pulled away just enough to cradle his face in her trembling hands. Her tears didn’t stop—they slid down her cheeks, one after another, like rivers breaking through a dam.

Veyra smiled.

It was a soft, broken smile—one he hadn’t worn in ages. A real one. His voice came out quieter than usual, almost like it belonged to a boy again.

“How are you, Mother?”

She let out a sob that sounded like the wind itself had shattered.

“Sad… so very sad,” she said, her voice barely more than a breath. “Why did you leave me, my child? Were you…tired of me? Did you not think of me? Not even once? Did you…not miss me?”

Her words stabbed deeper than any blade.

They weren’t accusations.

They were the aching whispers of a mother who had spent lifetimes staring into the void, waiting for a miracle.

Veyra gently placed his hands over hers, as if trying to stop her from falling apart.

“I did, Mother…” he whispered. “Every day. Every single moment, I thought of you.”

His voice broke, and for a second, he looked away, ashamed.

“I was hurt… so badly. I didn’t even know if I was still alive. My mind was a blur, my soul barely holding on. I tried to come back. I did. But I couldn’t…”

He paused, blinking back the tears now flooding his own eyes.

“I thought I would die out there. In that dark, cold place. I thought I’d never see you again. And that… that hurt more than anything.”

Gaia stared at him, her tears still falling, but her hands now steady as they cupped his cheeks. She leaned forward, resting her forehead against his.

“Then why didn’t you call for me?” she asked, her voice barely audible.

“Because I didn’t want you to see me like that,” Veyra said softly. “Broken. Weak. Not the son you raised to stand tall. And more than any other reason…I was scared.”

With a voice soaked in grief, Veyra whispered, “I was scared I’d hurt you again…”

Thalor’s fists clenched, his jaw tightening as regret washed over him. Yes… that was why he’d torn them apart. Because he believed Veyra had hurt Gaia. He believed his son was a danger.

Gaia looked up slowly, her golden eyes wide with disbelief. “Y-You… hurt me?” she asked, her voice barely holding together.

It felt like a blade through her heart—just the thought of it. The child she held, raised, and loved with every fiber of her being… had hurt her?

Her breath hitched.

Her Veyra… her most beautiful creation… How could he hurt her?

No—how could anyone ever make her believe that?

“D-Dear…?” Her voice trembled as she turned to Thalor, her eyes begging for an explanation. Eyes that had once looked at him with nothing but love now shimmered with hurt.

Thalor lowered his head, his voice quiet but heavy. “I was wrong,” he said. “I forgot… he was just a child. He didn’t know what he was doing.”

But the truth behind those words was heavier than even his guilt. He had lied to Gaia.

He told her that Veyra ran away on his own, when in reality… Thalor sent him away. Banished his own son under the fear—no, the assumption—that he might one day bring harm to Gaia.

And now, as he stood before her, he realized the depth of his mistake. Veyra had never raised a hand to hurt them. Not once. All that time, he had only wanted to come home.

Gaia stood frozen.

For the first time in countless ages… she felt something she had never expected.

Betrayal.

Not from her son.

But from the one man she trusted the most—her husband.

She took a step back, her lips trembling. “You… lied to me…”

The silence that followed was deafening. It was not the quiet of peace, but the stillness before a heart breaks.

And followed by the silence was rage.

For the first time, every realm to the very edge of existence shook under the rage of the entity who has given birth to countless planets and numerous beings

Her golden eyes turned red, her hair growing longer, fists clenched and her whole demeanor formed cracks on the platform, even though she still was wearing the bracelet.

In a voice which even sent a chill down Thalor’s spine, she asked, “Who gave you the right…to separate me from my child?!”
