Chapter 31: Teammates
“Mr. Mo, thank you for saving Rongrong and I.” Xu Fei suddenly said.

“You are welcome.” Mo Chenxuan nodded.

Hearing this, Xu Fei looked at Mo Chenxuan with a solemn expression.

“If possible, Rongrong and I want to join your team.” He said.

This time, Mo Chenxuan didn’t directly answer but instead looked at Xu Fei.

“Wu’er and I plan to vie for power in city B.” Mo Chenxuan started and quickly continued.

“Although my team will mostly be out of the base, I will be involved in politics and power struggles. Can you and Miss Lin live such a life?”

Xu Fei sighed.

When he learned about the apocalypse, his first instinct was to save himself and Lin Rongrong.

However, as time went by, he began to realise the apocalypse wasn’t so easy to navigate.

Personal strength was a good thing, but it wasn’t enough.

Thinking about it now, he was grateful he met Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu.

Otherwise, their situation would be a lot harder than it currently was.

“We don’t mind politics and power struggles, but we mind the slaughter of innocent people.” Xu Fei made his stand, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before extending his hand.

“Welcome to the team.” He said.

“Thank you.”

Mo Chenxuan and Xu Fei showered after Qin Wu and Lin Rongrong.

After that, Qin Wu collected their things, and the four had dinner in the outer room.

“Qin Wu, you really know how to live. When did you prepare the hot water and food?” Lin Rongrong asked.

“After we cleared the villa area.” Qin Wu answered, and Lin Rongrong sighed.

“Space is so convenient.” She said and then continued.

“Qin Wu, you don’t have to share with us from now on. You should keep it for yourself and Mr. Mo.”

Qin Wu rolled her eyes when she heard that.

“I wouldn’t share if we didn’t have enough. However, we have enough, and you are our team now.”

“But…”

“No buts.” Qin Wu said in a firm voice and removed a container from her space.

“There are twenty purified crystal cores in this container. You can use them to practice.”

“Purified?” Lin Rongrong asked.

“Do you feel a bit uncomfortable when you use a crystal core?” Qin Wu asked.

“We do.” Lin Rongrong nodded and looked at Xu Fei who also nodded.

“It’s because of impurities.” Qin Wu pushed the box towards the two.

“These purified crystal cores will be easier and more comfortable to use. Try them.”

“How…” Lin Rongrong started but quickly stopped herself.

“Thank you.” She said, and Qin Wu nodded.

At the same time, Xu Fei removed a paper bag from his backpack.

“These are all the crystal cores we have collected.” He said, pushing the paper to Qin Wu.

“We will return them after we purify them.”

“No. Just give us half.” Lin Rongrong said, quickly continuing when she saw Qin Wu was about to refuse.

“Qin Wu, we are a team, but we can’t take advantage of you. It’s a long way to city B, and we won’t be at ease if we keep accepting your generosity without giving anything in return. Although the crystal cores are not enough, it’s all we have. Please accept half from now on. ”

However, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu knew the importance of crystal cores and couldn’t be too greedy since Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong were their teammates.

“We will keep one-third.” Mo Chenxuan concluded and stood up.

“It’s quarter past ten. We need to leave.” He said.

After that, the four people returned to their cars and drove into the school.

A few minutes later, the cars stopped, and the four got out.

“It looks like the school hall.” Qin Wu observed, and Lin Rongrong nodded.

“The door is closed though.” She said.

After taking their camping bags from the cars, the four walked to the door, and Mo Chenxuan knocked.

One minute…

Two minutes…

When they received no answer, Qin Wu knocked again, but the outcome was the same.

“Maybe we should have stayed in the guardhouse or in our cars. There don’t seem to be any zombies around.” Lin Rongrong said.

“Shhh…, I hear voices.” Qin Wu said, pressing her ear to the door.

Unfortunately, even after a few minutes, the door remained closed.

“It’s only a few hours before dawn. Let’s sleep in the cars.” Qin Wu shrugged and said.

“Both cars are armoured and spacious. It’s not a big deal to sleep in them.” Lin Rongrong agreed.

“Don’t worry about security. Wu’er and I will keep watch tonight.” Mo Chenxuan said.

“Mr. Mo, Rongrong, and I can keep watch in the first half of the night while you keep watch in the second half.” Xu Fei countered.

“Okay. Wake us at fifteen minutes to two. ” Mo Chenxuan said.

In fact, there was no need to keep watch since he had spiritual power and was always observing the surroundings.

However, he didn’t want to reveal this superpower so he could only let the couple do as they wished.

After saying goodnight, the two couples returned to their cars.

“We should prepare one of the prefab homes when we have a chance. That way, we can take it out when stranded outside.” Qin Wu sighed.

“We can only do that when it’s just our people.” Mo Chenxuan said while rubbing his woman’s hair.

“Let’s go to sleep.”

Nothing happened that night.

At fifteen minutes past five, two cars drove towards the gate and stopped at the guard house.

Like the previous night, the four cleaned up and had breakfast before driving into the school.

“Our target is the dormitories, the storerooms, the library, and the classrooms.” Qin Wu said into the walkie-talkie.

“Library? Classrooms? Why?” Lin Rongrong asked in a confused voice.

“Brother Chenxuan and I may one day have children. I want to be prepared when the time comes.” Qin Wu said, and Mo Chenxuan reached over to take her hand, soothingly using his thumb to rub the back of her hand.
