Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 35
Chapter 35: JR Farm-Stay 2
Lin Rongrong’s attacks lacked power because her physical strength was low.
However, Xu Fei lacked power because he couldn’t properly control his superpower.
‘This needs to be corrected.’ Mo Chenxuan thought.
After killing the surrounding zombies, the group moved forward.
In no time, they arrived before the bougainvillaea hedge.
Seeing the hedge, Mo Chenxuan frowned and was about to say something, but his pupils suddenly shrunk.
“Move back.” He shouted, hastily pulling Qin Wu to retreat together.
Similarly, Xu Fei grabbed Lin Rongrong and also retreated.
Instantaneously, more than a dozen thorns flew from the hedge and attacked where they previously stood.
“This…” Lin Rongrong muttered with a confused expression.
Looking at the deep pits that suddenly appeared on the ground, the group couldn’t help but be frightened.
“How dangerous.” Lin Rongrong exclaimed.
“It won’t be a joke if we let those thorns pierce us.” Qin Wu agreed.
“Wu’er, your superpower can be used from a distance. Do you want to fight it first?” Mo Chenxuan asked.
“Good.” Qin Wu didn’t refuse.
Although Mo Chenxuan didn’t explicitly say it, Qin Wu knew what Mo Chenxuan was trying to do.
The mutated bougainvillaea could unleash crowd attacks.
At Qin Wu’s current level, it wasn’t easy to deal with it.
However, if she exerted herself to the limit, she would probably push her superpower to the second level.
“Be careful.” Lin Rongrong reminded, and Qin Wu nodded.
After that, Mo Chenxuan, Xu Fei, and Lin Rongrong stepped back while Qin Wu moved forward.
A moment later, Qin Wu swung her sword and a silver light galloped towards the bougainvillaea hedge.
However, when the light neared the plant, long vines protruded from the hedge and blocked the space slash.
Soon after, the vines broke, but the silver light also dissipated.
‘Looks like it won’t be easy.’ Qin Wu thought, her eyes narrowed into slits.
‘The only way to destroy a mutant plant is by digging out its crystal core. However, …’
Qin Wu had a headache when she looked at the hedge.
At a glance, the bougainvillaea hedge had a circumference of about one hundred metres.
Its branches were tightly squeezed together, and its roots were indiscernible.
“How can I find the crystal core in all this mess?” She muttered and soon frowned.

Like zombies and mutated beasts, mutant plants usually had one crystal core.
However, a rare few had more than one crystal core.
In her previous life, Qin Wu even heard of a mutant tree that had hundreds of crystal cores.
‘I hope this bougainvillaea only has one crystal core.’ She thought and rushed forward.
A moment later, three silver lights flew towards the lower half of the hedge.
Instantaneously, the vines came out to block, but Qin Wu was not done.
While the veins were blocking, she unleashed a slurry of space slashes at another position.
Unfortunately, she thought too simply.
Although the hedge didn’t extend more vines, it released hundreds of thorns.
These thorns poked holes into the space slashes, and the attacks cancelled each other.
“This bougainvillaea is so difficult to deal with.” Lin Rongrong stated, and Xu Fei nodded in agreement.
As Qin Wu fought, Xu Fei thought of how he would deal with it.
However, he couldn’t think of a way especially because his superpower was not suitable for long-range combat.
“You are limiting yourself.” Mo Chenxuan said, looking at Xu Fei with a solemn face.
“What does Mr. Mo mean?” Xu Fei asked.
“You are probably thinking that your superpower is not suitable for fighting the bougainvillaea.”
“Am I wrong?” Xu Fei asked in a confused voice.
“You are not wrong, but surviving the apocalypse is all about adapting. Your gold superpower is more suitable for close combat, but aren’t there ways you can adapt it for mid and long-range combat? Think about it.”
After saying that, Mo Chenxuan turned to Qin Wu.
At this time, Qin Wu simultaneously released three space slashes.
However, the three attacks were spread out and simultaneously attacked three places.
As before, vines blocked one attack, thorns blocked the other, but the third hit the edge.
Soon after, a one-metre gap was opened in the hedge, and Qin Wu couldn’t help but smile.
‘It seems I have to attack three places at once if I want to damage the bougainvillea, but that will consume a lot of superpower.’
Thinking of the consumption, Qin Wu drank a big mouthful of space water.
‘I need to replenish as I fight. Otherwise, I will exhaust my superpower before I destroy the bougainvillaea.’
After that, Qin Wu continuously attacked while drinking space water to replenish her reserves.
One hour later, she finally dug out the crystal core, and the mutant plant withered.
However, Qin Wu was extremely exhausted.
Her superpower was hovering at the bottom, and her aura was rising and falling.
“What’s wrong with Qin Wu?” Lin Rongrong asked in a worried
“She is about to advance.” Mo Chenxuan answered, his eyes narrowed into slits.
“Wu’er, hold on for a moment.” The man said and rushed towards the farmhouse.
Soon after, he destroyed the mutated common ivy and the surrounding zombies.
After that, he went into the house and didn’t return until ten minutes later.
“The house is clear.” He told the rest and directly carried Qin Wu into the house.
Without delay, he went to a second-floor bedroom and sent Qin Wu into his space.
“You can advance in peace. I will take care of the rest.”
“Thank you.” Qin Wu said, smiled and kissed Mo Chenxuan.
After Qin Wu began to advance, Mo Chenxuan left the space, secured the bedroom, and then went to find Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong.
“Will Qin Wu be okay?” Lin Rongrong asked.
“She will be fine.” Mo Chenxuan assured while looking at his watch.
It was only five in the afternoon.
Thinking that Qin Wu wouldn’t come out of seclusion for several hours, Mo Chenxuan conscripted Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong to secure the farmhouse and also look for supplies.
When he first cleared the house, Mo Chenxuan didn’t have time to catalogue the supplies.
However, he counted the rooms and knew what was where.
The first floor had a dozen rooms.
Of the dozen, six were bedrooms, one was a sitting room, another was a big kitchen, a pantry, a frozen storage, a dining room, and a big storage room.
The bedrooms, dining room, and sitting room were typical. They contained the necessary furniture but not much else.
After checking these rooms, Mo Chenxuan led the other two to the big storage room.
Soon after entering the room, Lin Rongrong gasped in surprise.
“There is so much firewood. There is also coal, charcoal, gas cylinders, and kerosene.” She exclaimed.
“People like to roast meat when they visit a farm stay.” Xu Fei said in a matter-of-fact voice.
“I will let Wu’er collect them after she advances.” Mo Chenxuan said and headed to the adjacent room.
The next room was the pantry.
At a glance, the pantry was almost as big as the previous storeroom.
Most importantly, it was filled to the brim.
“There at least thirty sacks of rice, twenty sacks of flour, twenty bottles of oil, dry spices, soy sauce, vinegar, barbecue sauce, cooking wine, salt, bottled water, wine, and even beer.” Xu Fei observed with a happy expression.
Although they had a lot of food, no one knew how long the apocalypse would last.
Considering that, accumulating as much food as possible was the right thing to do.
“I heard food is also a kind of currency. It’s a good thing to accumulate more of it.” Lin Rongrong said.
“This food may seem a lot, but it isn’t. Don’t forget we are all superpowers, and our food intake isn’t small. We shouldn’t trade with food unless necessary.” Mo Chenxuan reminded.
“We understand.” Lin Rongrong and Xu Fei immediately nodded.
“Shall we head to the next room?”
After that, the three went from room to room.
In the frozen storage, they found a lot of frozen meat, vegetables, and fruits.
Fortunately, the farmhouse had an independent generator, and the power was still on.
Because of this, the frozen foods were still in good condition and could be eaten without worry.
Following that, the three checked the kitchen and dining room, but the supplies weren’t significant compared to those in the storage rooms.
“The windows and doors are closed, but we need to secure the house more.” Mo Chenxuan said with a solemn expression.
“How do we do that?” Lin Rongrong asked.
“The zombies and mutant beasts will soon notice our presence. When they do, they will come to the farmhouse and may even break the windows and doors.” Mo Chenxuan started and quickly continued.
“We will use furniture to set up barricades. That way, even if the zombies try to break in, we will have a chance to escape.”
“Escape? How? Won’t we also be trapped inside the house?” Lin Rongrong asked.
“Not necessarily.” Mo Chenxuan smiled.
