Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: JR Farm-Stay 3
“Do you know why we are staying on the second floor?” Mo Chenxuan asked, looking at the two,
When they heard the question, Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong looked at each other and shook their heads.
“Excluding birds and other flying beasts, zombies are currently at level one and can’t fly. That means living on a higher floor is safer than living on a lower floor. However, the floor can’t be too high. If for some reason the zombies enter the house, we may be forced to jump out of the window. Considering this, the second floor is the ideal height. It’s high enough to avoid walking zombies but low enough to ensure we won’t be too badly injured when we jump out.” Mo Chenxuan explained, and the other two couldn’t help but admire his careful thinking.
“You should always consider these things when choosing a place to stay.” He reminded.
“We understand.” Xu Fei said, and Lin Rongrong nodded.
After that, the three used furniture to block the windows and doors.
One hour later, the house was a temporary fortress.
“Shall we head to the second floor?” Lin Rongrong asked, but Mo Chenxuan shook his head.
“We may disturb Wu’er if we move around too much on the second floor. Let’s cook while we wait.”
“Why didn’t I think of it?” Lin Rongrong hit her forehead.
After all, their food and other supplies were in Qin Wu’s space.
Since they couldn’t access the space, for the time being, they could only use the supplies in the farmhouse.
“We can take this chance to prepare more food.” Xu Fei said, and the other two didn’t argue.
After that, the three used some stored water to clean pots and other utensils.
When that was done, they moved some food from the pantry and frozen storage and began preparing.
“Rice is easy to cook and can be made last. I want to make dumplings and noodles.” Lin Rongrong said.
Following that, the three worked hard.
They made dumplings, noodles, beef stew, rice, and some vegetable dishes
At around eight, Mo Chenxuan excused himself and went upstairs.
When he returned, he was no longer alone.
“Qin Wu, have you advanced?” Lin Rongrong asked as soon as she saw the person.
Hearing the question, Qin Wu nodded, her lips curled in a happy smile.
“I have advanced.” She said.
“Congratulations.” Xu Fei said.
“Congratulations. I am so envious.” Lin Rongrong also said.
“You will also advance soon.” Qin Wu comforted the two while looking around.
“I was just thinking of eating dumplings.” She muttered.
After that, Qin Wu collected the food and the supplies on the first floor before the four headed to the second floor.
As usual, the four showered before eating.
However, because there were enough bathrooms on the second floor, they didn’t have to wait for each other.

By the time they started eating, it was already past nine, and the zombies had begun circling the farmhouse.
At a glance, there were two dozen human zombies and at least twenty zombie beasts.
Seeing this, the four didn’t worry too much.
After all, they had made adequate preparations, and after the flyover, fifty zombies weren’t enough to scare them.
“Brother Chenxuan and I will take the first watch. Don’t worry about anything, and sleep well.” Qin Wu said before the two couples separated.
“Qin Wu, Mr. Mo, have a good night.” Lin Rongrong said.
Back in their room, Mo Chenxuan looked at Qin Wu with a thoughtful expression.
“Did all your superpowers upgrade?” He asked, and Qin Wu sighed before shaking her head.
“Just the space superpower. I thought they would all upgrade.” She said, glaring at Mo Chenxuan.
When Mo Chenxuan advanced, all his superpowers upgraded, but what about her?
‘Is it true Brother Chenxuan is the real child of heaven, and I am just a stepchild?’ She wondered but didn’t dwell on it.
“I will accompany you to exercise your water superpower.” Mo Chenxuan said Qin Wu nodded.
Soon after, the two entered her space.
First, Qin Wu used her superpower to fill some water troughs.
After she exhausted her water power, Mo Chexuan supplemented the water troughs with space water.
That way, their livestock would grow more healthily.
While Mo Chenxuan was supplementing the troughs, Qin Wu used space water to replenish her consumption.
When her superpower recovered, she watered the plants they planted until she once again exhausted her reserves.
In this way, Qin Wu consumed and replenished five times before calling it a day.
After that, the two left the space and soon appeared in the bedroom.
As before, the zombies were still howling and scratching the doors, but the two didn’t bother with them.
They instead went to bed and didn’t wake up until five.
After freshening up, they came out of their room and directly ran into Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong.
“Why didn’t you wake us for the second watch?” Lin Rongrong questioned.
“There was no need.” Qin Wu said and quickly continued.
“The situation was manageable, and we didn’t feel a watch was necessary.”
Of course, the real reason was that Mo Chenxuan’s spiritual power never missed a thing.
“Don’t do this next time.” Lin Rongrong warned, and Qin Wu shrugged in helplessness.
“Let’s have breakfast and then deal with the zombies outside.” Mo Chenxuan changed the subject.
Thirty minutes later, the four stood in front of a second-floor window.
“I will jump first. You can come down after I deal with the surrounding zombies.”
“It’s too dangerous.” Xu Fei frowned.
“Let’s lure the zombies to the other side before we jump down.”
“Alright.” Mo Chenxuan immediately agreed.
Although he was confident he could protect himself using spiritual power, there was no need to take risks if he could avoid it.
“Are we going to use noise again?” Lin Rongrong asked.
“It’s the easiest way.” Qin Wu said.
After that, the four circled around to another window and began making noise.
Instantaneously, the zombies reacted and began howling.
In less than five minutes, the surrounding zombies were all attracted to below the window, and the four subtly nodded.
“Let’s go.” Mo Chenxuan said.
A moment later, the four rushed back to the first window, and after confirming the waiting zombies were attracted away, they jumped from the second floor.
After landing, the four didn’t waste time.
They drew their weapons and circled around to attack the zombies.
In no time, they cleared the zombies and dug out their crystal cores.
“Our next target is the livestock sheds.” Mo Chenxuan said, pointing to the south.
“Brother Chenxuan, are there mutant plants along the way?”
“There is a patch of grass near the livestock sheds.” Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu nodded in understanding.
“A patch of grass? What can grass do?” Lin Rongrong didn’t take the grass seriously.
“Don’t underestimate grass.” Qin Wu warned with a solemn expression.
“It may not be physically powerful, but it may be poisonous or corrosive. We have to be careful.”
“I didn’t think of that. It seems everything is a potential danger in the apocalypse.” Lin Rongrong shuddered.
‘That’s what is scary about the apocalypse.’ Qin Wu thought.
In her previous life, many people died because they couldn’t adapt to the new reality.
They failed to see the danger in ‘grass’ or such innocuous things and ended up capsizing in the gutter.
“The most dangerous are fellow humans.” Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu nodded in agreement.
Before the apocalypse, even if people were reluctant to help others for fear of touching porcelain, people were still relatively kind to each other.
However, the apocalypse brought out the worst in most people.
Anything could be done in the name of survival, and even the most sacred principles could be betrayed.
Thinking of her previous life, Qin Wu gritted her teeth and unconsciously clenched her hands.
“Is it so bad?” Lin Rongrong didn’t believe it.
After all, it had been more than one week since the apocalypse began.
During that time, she had seen bad people, but she had mostly seen good ones.
Because of this, she believed most people could retain their morality during the apocalypse.
“Rongrong, you are a doctor, and your nature is kind. However, human beings are inherently driven by self-interest.” Xu Fei said.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s the early days, and supplies aren’t scarce. People are willing to step back or compromise. However, this situation won’t last.”
“Xu Fei is right.” Mo Chenxuan said and quickly continued.
“Soon, superpowers will objectively realise they have become more powerful than ordinary humans. Some will think of avenging past crimes or simply feel superior because of their new abilities. It won’t be long before superpowers start treating ordinary humans as less than them. This situation will only get worse when resources become scarce. Miss Lin should be prepared. The apocalypse is not a friendly place. You can expect to see the darkest side of human beings.”
“Rongrong, don’t trust people easily and don’t leave your back to others, expecting them to watch it for you. Rather than watch it, they are more likely to stab it to steal your supplies and power core.” Qin Wu added.
