Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: JR Farm-Stay 6
“There is nothing.” A woman said through gritted teeth.
The woman was Luo Huifei.
Before the apocalypse, she doubled as Wang Ming’s mistress and secretary.
She was together with Wang Ming when the apocalypse started.
As a result, Wang Ming didn’t bother to care about his wife and directly chose to survive with his mistress.
“What do you mean there is nothing?” Wang Ming asked.
“The pantry, storage room, and kitchen are empty.” Luo Huifei said, and a trace of murderous intent flashed in her eyes before she continued.
“It must be those four. They must have taken everything from the first floor and moved them to the second floor.” She said.
“I also think so.” A burly man said, clenching his hands in anger.
“Brother Wang, do you really not plan to go to the second floor?”
“They are only four, and we have one hundred and three. Why should we be afraid of them?”
“Brother Wang, let’s go to the second floor and take what is ours.”
“We have nine superpowers, and brother Wang is a rare gold-type superpower. What do we have to be afraid of? Brother Wang, we can’t let those four people take advantage of us.”
Hearing this, Wang Ming nodded in agreement.
He originally didn’t attack the four because he worried they had more accomplices in the house.
However, it had been several hours since they entered the house, and no accomplices had shown up.
“Brother Wang, we can’t let go of any resources. After all, we have children, the elderly and women. We must accumulate as many supplies as we can.” A man said in a righteous voice.
“Our weak ones risked their lives so that we can enter the house to find resources. How can we let them down?”
“Brother Wang, when should we go up?”
After listening to his team’s opinion, Wang Ming raised his hands to calm everyone down.
“Wait until midnight. Although we have a numbers advantage, we shouldn’t make things hard for ourselves by attacking when they are still awake.” He said, and several others nodded in admiration.
“Brother Wang is still the most thoughtful.”
“I will listen to Brother Wang.”
Wang Ming smiled when he heard the praises.
However, he soon frowned and turned to Luo Huifei.
“Huifei, how much supplies do we have?” He asked, and Luo Huifei shook her head with a sorrowful expression.
“You also know we haven’t gotten many supplies over the past two days. We can only last another day if we don’t get more supplies.” She said, and the team exploded.
Even those who were previously silent couldn’t stand it when they heard their supplies were about to be exhausted.
“We must recover all the supplies on the second floor.” Someone said.
“Brother Wang, I think we should make a plan. Otherwise…”

After that, the one hundred and three huddled together and thought of a plan.
At half past midnight, a little girl dragged her teddy bear and sleepily climbed the stairs to the second floor.
Seeing the child, Xu Fei narrowed his eyes, but Lin Rongrong felt her heart soften.
She often saw children like this in the hospital.
At this time, she naturally wanted to take care of the child and assure her that everything would be okay.
Soon after thinking about it, Lin Rongrong stood up and walked to the child, intending to talk to her and then send her downstairs.
However, as soon as she touched the child, the little girl’s doe eyes widened, and a hint of fear coloured her face.
Before Lin Rongrong could say anything, the child startled, choked and then burst into tears.
A moment later, a group of people came running from downstairs.
“Mumu, what happened?” A woman asked, running to hug the child.
“Mumu is a bad child.” The child cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“How can Mumu be a bad child? Mumu is a very good child.”
“But Mumu went upstairs without permission. This auntie scolded and pinched Mumu for going upstairs.” The child was inconsolable, and the adults glared at Lin Rongrong, their eyes filled with disdain.
“What?” Lin Rongrong couldn’t help but be shocked.
She didn’t expect a child to suddenly touch porcelain.
‘Hasn’t this industry been taken over by the elderly? How come a child has also entered this business?’ She thought, looking at the child with a helpless expression.
The little girl was about eight.
She wasn’t a standard beautiful child, but she was plump and had dimples on both sides of her cheeks.
When Lin Rongrong first saw the child, she felt the little girl was cute and desperately wanted to hug her.
Unexpectedly, the little angel suddenly and rudely transformed into a great demon!
Thinking of this, Lin Rongrong couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
‘It’s only been a few days since the apocalypse began. How can a sweet little girl suddenly become like this?’
Lin Rongrong felt sad when she thought of this.
However, this was not the time for sadness because the adults were glaring at Lin Rogrong as if wanting to tear her into pieces.
“This miss, how can you be so cruel to a child?” Someone asked.
“Mumu is only eight. Although we taught her the rules, children don’t have a good memory, and she may have forgotten. That’s why she went to the second floor.”
“What’s the big deal about going to the second floor? Can a child do anything? Can she steal supplies or kill people? If you ask me, this lady is too mean.”
“Brother Wang, you have to make the decision for me. Look at what she has done to my Mumu’s arm…” A woman cried, revealing a blue-black injury on the child’s arm.
Seeing the injury, Lin Rongrong finally lost her temper.
“Who are you trying to fool? I am a doctor, and that kind of scarring is at least three days old? Did I travel to the past to pinch your child?” She asked in an angry voice.
At this point, Lin Rongrong realised that Mo Chenxuan, Qin Wu, and Xu Fei were not alarmists.
The apocalypse really had the power to turn the whitest angels into the blackest devils.
“You dare to make excuses?” The child’s mother screamed in anger.
“Mumu is my treasure. How could I let her be injured?”
“Are you kidding me?” Lin Rongrong sneered.
If she hadn’t seen how the group used their weak ones as zombie bait, maybe she would have been convinced.
However, she had already seen the cruel reality and knew the child was not a treasure but a means to an end.
“You say you are a doctor, but I don’t believe you. Brother Shi, come and take a look at this injury.” The woman shouted, and a man squeezed through to their location.
The man was thin and had monkey cheeks and shifty eyes.
From his appearance, he hardly seemed like a doctor.
Even if he was a doctor, he was the kind of crook that was often mentioned in the news.
After reaching the child, he casually looked at the little girl’s arm and sneered.
“Sister Ma is right. This injury is new. It should have happened in the past ten minutes.”
Hearing this, Lin Rongrong didn’t know what to say.
‘This guy doesn’t even try to pretend.’ She thought, sighed and shook her head.
‘I am too lazy for this.’
“What do you want?” She asked.
“My child is only eight and your behaviour will definitely traumatise her. You should compensate us for mental damages.” Sister Ma said.
“Mumu is a delicate child and it will take our whole team to take care of her from now on.” Another said.
Lin Rongrong was speechless.
She never thought she would encounter such a situation in the apocalypse.
After all, few survivors had a good temper.
What kind of crazy person would try to touch porcelain against a survivor whose temper was unknown?
‘Are they relying on their numbers? Do they think I will obediently hand over our supplies because I am afraid of them?’ She wondered but didn’t show it on her face.
“How much compensation?” She asked instead.
“One thousand kilograms of rice, five thousand litres of water, and one thousand kilograms of flour.” Sister Ma said and several people nodded in agreement.
When she heard this, Lin Rongrong snorted.
“We can still end this night peacefully if you agree that river water won’t interfere with well water.” She said, her eyes narrowed into slits.
However, the opponents did not appreciate her kindness.
“Brother Wang, look at her! She has done something wrong but is threatening us instead of apologising.” Sister Ma cried.
“Brother Wang, we can’t swallow this breath.”
“Mumu is only eight. We can’t let her suffer in vain.”
“Miss, it’s good to drink a toast when it’s offered. Don’t wait until you are forced to drink a forfeit.” Wang Ming said, trying to sound wise but Lin Rongrong was already at the end of her rope.
No matter how good her temper was, she couldn’t stand these unscrupulous people.
“You should take your own advice.” She said.
