Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: Uncle and Niece
“Brother Chenxuan, shall we check on the villagers?” Qin Wu asked, reaching over to take Mo Chenxuan’s hand.
“Okay.”
After that, the four left the house and went around the village.
Unfortunately, the situation was as expected.
Because Chen Da drew on the villagers; vitality, the people died before the old man.
The only survivors were the man in the army uniform and the little girl.
However, both were unconscious and still had painful expressions.
“Rongrong…” Qin Wu started, and Lin Rongrong stepped forward before hearing the rest of the sentence.
“I will check on them.”
Twenty minutes later, Lin Rongrong smiled and looked at the rest with a relieved expression.
“How are they?” Qin Wu asked.
“They are fine because the parasite eggs in their bodies haven’t hatched yet.”
“What will happen to them now that the parasite is dead?” Xu Fei asked, his brows creased in a frown.
“Don’t worry. The parasite is dead, and the eggs can no longer hatch. However, they must be removed from the two people’s bodies. Otherwise…”
“Doctor, can you please help us remove the eggs? I am willing to pay any price.” A voice suddenly asked.
When everyone turned to see, they saw the man had already woken up.
“How are you feeling?” Lin Rongrong asked, and the man shook her head.
“I am fine, but my niece is so young…”
While speaking, the man looked at the little girl with a distressed expression.
However, he was not a doctor and couldn’t help the little girl.
“Doctor, can you help us remove the eggs?”
“Removing the eggs is actually easy.” Lin Rongrong said and subconsciously blushed from embarrassment.
Seeing this, Qin Wu chuckled before she spoke.
“Do they need laxatives?” She asked.
“Exactly.” Lin Rongrong sighed and quickly continued.
“They could wait for the natural process, but it’s not good to let this kind of thing linger in the body.”
“Laxatives…” The man frowned and subconsciously looked around.
Before the apocalypse, he could just rush to a pharmacy to get laxatives.
However, this kind of thing was a luxury during the apocalypse.
Thinking about this, the man couldn’t help but worry.

After all, Chenjia village was in the middle of nowhere.
‘Maybe there are laxatives somewhere in the village.’ He suddenly thought and immediately stood up.
“Can you wait to discuss compensation until after I search for the medicine?” The man asked, looking at Lin Rongrong.
However, before Lin Rongrong could answer, Mo Chenxuan interrupted.
“We have the medicine.” Mo Chenxuan said, gesturing to Qin Wu to take out the laxatives.
Seeing this, the other three couldn’t help but be surprised.
After all, Mo Chenxuan was notoriously cautious when it came to things related to Qin Wu.
How could such a person suddenly expose Qin Wu’s space?
The other three couldn’t understand it, but they trusted Mo Chenxuan.
Since the man chose such an action, he must have a reason for it.
Thinking this way, the three relaxed and Qin Wu removed a pack of laxatives from her space.
“Rongrong, are these okay?” She asked, handing over the medicine.
“They are fine.” Lin Ronrong said, looking at the man.
“One tablet is enough for the child and two for you.”
“Thank you, doctor.” The man said and bowed to the team.
“We will wait outside.”
After that, the four left and waited in the large space outside the house.
“Brother Mo, do you know that soldier?” Lin Rongrong asked, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
“I know of him. He is a good man.” Mo Chenxuan said but didn’t explain.
When Mo Chenxuan first saw the two, he didn’t recognise them.
After all, when he first met them in his previous life, it was already more than fifteen years into the apocalypse.
At that time, the uncle was more than forty, and the girl was approaching thirty.
However, Mo Chenxuan had a good impression of the two.
It was because of this good impression that he decided to help them and possibly recruit them into his team.
One hour later, a man and a little girl walked out of the house.
“Thank you for saving my uncle and I.” The little girl said, sincerely bowing to the four.
“How did you get caught?” Lin Rongrong asked with a curious expression.
Hearing the question, the man blushed in embarrassment.
The man was called Lu Hao, and the little girl was Lu Yanyan.
Lu Hao was the third son of the Lu family in the capital.
The Lu family was a business clan with a deep background.
However, the family was very strict with its descendants.
According to the family’s tradition, the first son was the designated heir, and the second was the backup and usually assisted the first son.
As for the third and other sons, it depended on the situation.
If possible, the third son was usually sent to the army while other sons were allowed to pursue their interests.
In Lu Hao’s generation, the family had three sons and two daughters.
Following tradition, Lu Hao went to the army, and his two sisters entered into arranged marriages.
The first sister met a good man, and her marriage was happy.
However, the second sister was unlucky.
Unfortunately, the Lu family only cared about interests and had nothing to do with family affection.
Just three years after her marriage, Lu Hao’s second sister was abused to death, leaving behind a newborn daughter.
When they heard the news, the Lu family was naturally outraged.
However, not even the death of the second sister could get in the way of the family’s interests.
After the other family paid a lot of benefits, the Lu family let the matter drop.
At that time, Lu Hao did not have the power to seek justice for his little sister.
At a loss, he did his best and finally got custody of his little niece.
Since then, Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan had been relying on each other without much help from the Lu family.
After the apocalypse began, Lu Hao left the army and travelled more than one hundred kilometres to the little niece’s school.
Although he rescued the little girl, their journey was not smooth, and their circumstances were not good.
By the time they reached Chenjia village, both were hungry and couldn’t resist the temptation of food, water, and rest.
Unexpectedly, Chenjia village was a den of snakes, and they almost capsized in the gut.
When Lu Hao thought of what happened to them, he couldn’t help but feel a little scared and more grateful to the four.
“My name is Lu Hao, and this is my niece, she is Lu Yanyan.” Lu Hao introduced himself and quickly continued.
“I was careless and almost got the two of us into trouble. Thank you for saving us.” The man said in a sincere voice.
“You must be more careful in the future.” Lin Rongrong nodded, and the two nodded with bashful expressions.
Seeing this, Lin Rongrong chuckled and no longer nagged.
“Were you heading to or away from the capital?” Qin Wu asked, looking at the people with a solemn expression.
Although Mo Chenxuan had yet to say something, Qin Wu had already picked up on his thoughts.
Because of this, she couldn’t wait to investigate everything about the uncle and niece.
“We are heading to the capital.” Lu Hao said, his brows creased in a frown.
The reason they got into trouble was because their car broke down in the middle of nowhere.
As a result, they had to abandon most of their supplies and fight zombies as they looked for a replacement.
Unfortunately, their luck was not good.
Even though they found many cars, most were stripped to their bones.
They either didn’t have fuel, or their batteries or other parts had been taken away.
In such a situation, the two could only grit their teeth and walk forward.
“What about the big sisters and big brothers?” Lu Yanyan asked, looking at the four with earnest eyes.
Hearing this, Lin Rongrong and Xu Fei didn’t know what to say, but Qin Wu was not tangled.
“We are also going to the capital. Does Yanyan want to come with us?”
The little girl was pleasantly surprised when she heard that and immediately turned to her uncle.
“Uncle Hao, can we go with the big sisters and big brothers?” She asked.
If he was alone, Lu Hao would not think of it.
However, he was with his little niece.
Since the four had already saved them, Lu Hao didn’t think they had bad intentions towards them.
Most importantly, it was safer to travel with a group than alone.
That way, if an accident happened, they could help each other and not end up stranded like his niece, and he were.
“Four friends, thank you for your help. I, Lu Hao, will never forget this favour. You can come to me if you need anything.” He promised, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before he spoke.
“We will leave at first light. Let’s rest for now.” He said.
