Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 58
Chapter 58: Walking Around
“We have lost our guide.” Qin Wu suddenly said and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
He noticed when the little boy slipped away.
However, it was more important to deal with Qin Lan than to stop the little boy.
“It doesn’t matter.” He said.
“Mmh.” Qin Wu nodded.
After that, the two walked around the market and the situation was as expected.
Although there were many buyers, few could afford to buy the things in the shops and stalls.
In the end, those buyers could only sigh before leaving the market with gloomy faces.
Qin Wu frowned when she saw this.
At this moment, people could afford to walk away from the supplies.
After all, it was still the early days of the apocalypse and wild supplies weren’t completely gone.
However, when survivors could no longer find supplies in the surrounding towns and villages, the unrest in the base would hit a critical point.
When that happened, robberies, murders, and riots would follow.
“The base will become a powder keg if nothing is done soon.” Qin Wu commented.
“We won’t let it reach that point.” Mo Chenxuan said in a determined voice.
“Do you have a plan?”
“I will tell you when we return to the house.”
“Good.”
After that, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu left the market.
However, they didn’t return to the villa but instead went to zone B.
Zone B was the second residential district.
It had twenty high-rise buildings and each building had thirty floors.
Before the apocalypse, these apartment buildings were home to wealthy second generations and senior executives of major domestic and foreign companies.
At this time, only superpower teams could afford the rent and utility costs of the high-rise apartments. Even then, a one hundred members team could only afford two or three apartments.
When Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu arrived in Zone B, the place was clean and serene. It seemed unaffected by the apocalypse but when one looked closer, they couldn’t miss the changes.
“Gardens and the green environment were one of the major selling points of these apartment buildings. It’s too bad.” Qin Wu said, looking at the empty flower beds.
“It can’t be helped.” Mo Chenxuan said and Qin Wu nodded before speaking.
“Even if the black rain didn’t destroy or mutate the plants, the flowers would still be destroyed when living space becomes narrower.”
In the previous life, more and more survivors came to city B.
As a result, the designated living areas could not accommodate the additional people and homeless survivors began to appear on roadsides and between buildings.

Although Qin Wu didn’t know if that would happen in her current life, she was prepared for it.
“Let’s go to the next zone.” She said.
“Zone C is a military area. We can’t go there.” Mo Chenxuan reminded, leading towards zone D.
Zone D was an ordinary version of Zone B and was a mixture of apartment buildings and single-family homes.
Because of this, it was more populous than Zone B.
However, its environment was just as solemn as Zone B.
There were no flowers in the garden, no children playing on the grounds, and no pets running around.
After walking around for more than ten minutes, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu only saw a few harried survivors.
‘It’s depressing.’ Qin Wu thought as she and Mo Chenxuan headed to zone E.
District E was a ‘refugee’ camp.
There were no houses in this area; only standard tents, spread over several acres of flat ground.
“The apocalypse winter is not easy to survive.” Mo Chenxuan said as soon as he saw the tents.
Qin Wu nodded when she heard the statement.
“Brother Chenxuan, how many survivors are there in this area?” She asked.
After hearing the question, Mo Chenxuan spread his spiritual sense to the limit but soon frowned.
“My spiritual sense is not enough to cover the whole camp. However, I estimate fifty thousand people.”
“Fifty thousand…” Qin Wu muttered and quickly continued.
“If nothing is done, ninety per cent may not survive the coming winter.”
“I agree.” Mo Chenxuan said and couldn’t help but frown before he continued.
“It’s mid-September and if everything goes as expected, winter will come in four weeks. More people will have arrived in city B by then and the death toll will be even more disastrous.”
After that, neither Qin Wu nor Mo Chenxuan spoke.
Instead, they walked around zone E before returning to their house half an hour later.
“Sister Qin, I missed you so much.” A voice resounded as soon as the two entered Villa Eight.
“What are you talking about?” Qin Wu rolled her eyes but her lips involuntarily raised up.
“I am not used to not seeing you all the time.” Lin Rongrong said, rushing to hug Qin Wu.
“Our compound has several secondary villas. You can live here if you want.”
“I might just take you up on the offer.” Lin Rongrong said in a joking voice.
“You are welcome.”
“Where did you go? We have been waiting for more than an hour.”
“Brother Chenxuan and I went to the market and then walked around the base.”
“Let’s sit down and talk.” Mo Chenxuan said, took Qin Wu’s hand, and led everyone to the sitting room.
After everyone sat, Qin Wu looked at the Xu couple.
“Are your families okay?” She asked.
“They are okay.” Lin Rongrong said but a trace of anger flashed in her eyes.
Seeing this, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu looked at each other.
However, they didn’t intend to pry into other people’s business.
“It’s good if they are fine.” Qin Wu finally said, trusting that Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong would come to her and Mo Chenxuan if they encountered something they couldn’t handle.
“Brother Mo, what’s our next plan?” Xu Fei asked, looking at Mo Chenxuan with a solemn expression.
Along the way to City B, Xu Fei imagined many things.
However, his imagination fell short of reality.
Only after meeting his Xu family did he realise that the apocalypse was crueller than he thought.
